Overview

Waiterio is restaurant and bar point-of-sale software for operators who need table service and online ordering in one workflow. It is best suited to restaurants and bars that want a website and QR ordering alongside their POS, provided a monthly cap or paid order allowance fits their volume.

Key features

Orders and service

Waiterio manages tables, menus, staff, payments, discounts, and sales reports, and can send orders to the kitchen and generate invoices. Table management, a kitchen display, and employee permissions make it relevant to teams coordinating service, rather than businesses looking only for a simple checkout. The free allowance is measured in tables served: each table counts as one order, up to 100 per month. That can make the cap arrive sooner than a tally of individual transactions might suggest.

Online ordering and website

The restaurant website builder accepts online orders and brings them into the same dashboard as in-person orders. Pickup and delivery scheduling, advance ordering, contactless delivery requests, and support for multiple locations make it useful for restaurants combining dine-in service with takeaway or delivery. Google Maps integration can show the restaurant's location on its site.

QR ordering, payments, and printing

Customers can scan table QR codes to view the menu and submit orders. Waiterio accepts cash, vouchers, and credit cards; card payments can run through an external terminal or supported phones. Card transactions are handled by an external PCI-compliant payment gateway rather than stored or processed on Waiterio's servers.

For printed tickets, Waiterio supports thermal printers using ESC POS. Its documentation recommends Wi-Fi printers; parallel and serial connections are unsupported, so restaurants relying on those setups should check compatibility before choosing it. Users cannot create new orders while offline, a meaningful weakness for service locations with unreliable connectivity.

Pricing

Waiterio has a free plan and a free trial. The free plan permits up to 100 orders (tables served) per month, making it a low-risk fit for very small or low-volume operations, but a poor fit once that ceiling is routinely exceeded.

Small: 39.00 USD per month, billed monthly, for 600 orders per month. It suits a restaurant whose volume is above the free cap but within 600.
Medium: 59.00 USD per month, billed monthly, for 1,200 orders per month. The higher allowance is aimed at busier operations that do not need unlimited orders.
Large: 79.00 USD per month, billed monthly, for unlimited orders per month. It removes the stated quota, making it the clearest fit for operators whose monthly volume exceeds the other tiers.

The paid plans scale by monthly order allowance; the free tier's 100-order limit is the main constraint to weigh before relying on it for regular service.

Platforms

Waiterio supports Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, web, and Windows. That range gives restaurant teams options across mobile and desktop devices.

Who it's for

Waiterio is aimed at restaurants and bars, especially those combining table service with delivery or takeaway. It makes most sense when shared order handling, restaurant web ordering, and QR self-ordering are useful together. It is less suitable for teams that need to keep entering new orders through an internet outage or require parallel or serial thermal-printer connections.

Pros and cons

Pro: Online and in-person orders share a dashboard, helping restaurants manage both channels in one POS workflow.
Pro: The website builder supports pickup, delivery scheduling, advance orders, multiple locations, and contactless delivery requests.
Pro: QR menu ordering gives diners a way to place table orders directly.
Con: The free plan stops at 100 tables served per month, which may be restrictive even for a modest service operation.
Con: New orders cannot be created offline, leaving service dependent on connectivity.
Con: Printer support excludes parallel and serial connections, limiting compatibility with some existing setups.

Support comes through the team, tutorials, documentation, and in-app screenshot sharing, useful channels for operators configuring workflows and resolving questions.

Alternatives

Compare restaurant POS software if you want to consider the category more broadly.

Loyverse is a freemium option with Android, iOS, API, and web platforms; its POS includes 31 days of sales history, while unlimited history costs 5.00 USD per month per store or $50/year.
Heartland Retail has a free plan and a starting price of 89.00 USD per month; consider it if its retail POS offering better fits your operation.
Floreant POS is a free, open-source POS for Windows and Linux, with macOS and self-hosted options; consider it if a free open-source system is the priority.
NCR Voyix POS is a paid option for grocery, convenience and fuel, department, and specialty retail; consider it for those retail categories rather than restaurant service.
HungerRush has a qualifying free Starter plan for one location and one POS terminal, plus custom pricing; consider it if those terms fit your restaurant.
LOOP POS has a free-forever plan for one outlet, two staff accounts, 30 days of sales history, and 50 AI prompts per month, with Growth at 29.00 USD per month.
OrderMate is another paid POS option.
Lightspeed Restaurant has a 69.00 USD per month Starter plan with offline mode, menu management, floor plans, Advanced Insights, and 24/7 support; consider it if offline operation is essential.

Verdict

Waiterio is a strong fit for restaurants and bars that want table and kitchen workflows joined to web and QR ordering, particularly when online and offline sales should land in one dashboard. Its free plan offers a way to start, and paid tiers raise the order ceiling, but the 100-table monthly free cap and inability to create orders offline are decisive limitations. Choose it if its order allowances and connectivity requirements suit your service; look elsewhere if offline order entry is essential.
