Overview

Veryfi Invoices OCR API is a developer-facing service for turning invoices into data that other software can use. It is best suited to teams building accounts-payable, bill-pay, or purchase-order matching workflows. Its breadth of extraction and integrity checks is appealing, but the $500 monthly minimum makes the paid entry point a substantial commitment.

It returns structured JSON with supplier, line-item, tax, payment, and total information, alongside the recognized invoice text. Veryfi says it supports more than 150 fields and handles PDFs and images across differing layouts, geographies, and languages.

Key features

Structured extraction and OCR

Returning both field-level data and OCR text gives downstream applications two useful forms of output: structured values for processing and recognized text for other uses. Line-item extraction is included, and the API supports purchase-order matching, making it relevant to invoice workflows that need more than basic text recognition.

Integrity checks and workflow connections

Veryfi describes checks for duplicate and altered invoices, including digital tampering analysis and PDF layer analysis. Those checks can help flag questionable documents in accounts-payable flows, though they do not replace a broader review process. Integrations with n8n and Zapier offer workflow connections, while SDKs and code samples cover Python, Node.js, PHP, C#, and Java, among other languages.

Security and support

Veryfi states that its platform is SOC 2 Type II certified and uses TLS 1.2 and 1.3, salted password hashing, and AES encryption at rest and in transit. It says it complies with GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA, and will sign a BAA upon request. API documentation, FAQs, human expert support, and a free demo round out the support options.

A transaction covers one document of up to 15 pages. Longer documents need a custom account configuration, an important constraint for businesses processing lengthy invoices.

Pricing

Free

The Free plan costs $0 per invoice and allows up to 100 documents per month. It is a useful way to start with modest volume, but the monthly cap makes it unsuitable as a high-throughput production allowance.

Starter

Starter costs $0.16 per invoice, billed monthly with a $500/mo minimum commitment. It covers 0–25,000 transactions per month, with a 15-page maximum per transaction. The commitment sets a high floor even for teams that do not need the full transaction range; the plan is a better fit when recurring volume justifies that minimum. The page shows an included-invoices figure of 3,125 per month.

Growth

Growth uses custom pricing with volume discounts. It offers unlimited storage, custom data retention, and SLA options, so it is aimed at buyers with larger or more tailored deployment requirements who can work with sales on terms.

A free trial is available. The Free plan is billed monthly; Starter is billed monthly, while Growth is described as volume-discount pricing through sales.

Platforms

Veryfi lists Android, iOS, web, and API support. For a product centered on programmatic extraction, the API is the core fit; mobile and web availability broaden the platform footprint.

Who it's for

This API suits software teams and businesses automating accounts payable, bill pay, or three-way purchase-order matching. Its structured fields, OCR text, and duplicate and tampering checks are most relevant when invoices need to move through systems with less manual data entry and an additional integrity screen.

It is a weaker fit for very low-volume buyers seeking a low-cost paid tier: the free allowance stops at 100 documents monthly, and Starter carries a $500/mo minimum. Teams handling documents longer than 15 pages also need a custom configuration.

Pros and cons

Broad invoice output: More than 150 supported fields, line items, and OCR text give developers both structured values and recognized text to work with.
Invoice integrity checks: Duplicate detection and tampering analysis address risks beyond ordinary extraction.
Developer and workflow support: SDKs, code samples, n8n, and Zapier give teams several routes for integrating processing.
Strong stated safeguards: SOC 2 Type II certification, named encryption practices, and GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA compliance are relevant for sensitive invoice data.
High paid entry threshold: Starter's $500/mo minimum commitment may outweigh its per-invoice rate for smaller workloads.
Free cap and page ceiling: Free stops at 100 documents per month, and transactions are limited to 15 pages without custom configuration.

Alternatives

Nanonets Invoice OCR is worth considering for teams that want a free plan and trial with API access, email integration, and cloud storage; its free offer starts with $50 in credits, then charges $100/month for 100 credits.

Parseur offers a free plan for up to 20 pages per month, one user, and 90-day document retention, with unlimited mailboxes and extracted fields; it is an option for readers comparing a smaller free allowance.
Webdocs for AP uses quote-based pricing for an AP-focused option.
SAP Concur Invoice has subscription-style pricing by quote for buyers prepared to request a price.
ZoneCapture is another paid option.

Verdict

Veryfi Invoices OCR API is a strong candidate for teams that need broad invoice extraction, OCR text, and document integrity checks inside accounts-payable or bill-pay systems. Choose it when that capability justifies the Starter commitment; look elsewhere if your workload is small, your budget cannot support $500/mo, or your documents routinely exceed 15 pages.
