Overview

Adopt overlays web applications with contextual instructions, process validation, self-help, and analytics. Teams manage and publish guides through Nexthink’s web interface, with guide content developed in Adopt Editor through the browser extension. Because Adopt sits within the Applications module and relies on some of its core capabilities, organizations already using Nexthink are the clearest fit.

The product is now presented as Nexthink Guides, a DEX-powered digital adoption platform. Standalone Adopt users are directed to classic documentation until they move to the Infinity-integrated version, a distinction worth clarifying when planning deployment or support.

Key features

Guides and analytics

Walkthrough and Tooltip guides can start automatically, while Walkthrough and Media guides can be surfaced in Context help. That range supports both prompted instruction and help employees seek out themselves. Adoption dashboards track guide duration, completion, and drop-off, giving administrators a way to spot where users finish or abandon a guided process.

Application targeting and safeguards

Nexthink says Adopt works across browser-based enterprise software, including Workday, Salesforce, ServiceNow, and ChatGPT. Connectors for Workday, SAP, Salesforce, and SAP SuccessFactors can bring in user attributes for targeting guide visibility; this can make guidance more relevant, but requires connector setup.

The AI models run in AWS Bedrock in the customer’s geographic region. Customer data is not used to train those models, and data is encrypted in transit with HTTPS and at rest with AES-256. Administrators should review and adjust AI-generated guide content before publishing, since it can be inaccurate or inconsistent. Guide actions run in the employee’s own session, so Nexthink advises restricting guide-creation permissions to trusted users, particularly for sensitive applications.

Pricing

Nexthink Adopt: custom pricing. An additional license may be required depending on the customer’s licensing model, so buyers should confirm licensing with their Nexthink representative. The plan is paid, and no public seat counts, usage quotas, or trial terms are available to compare; organizations will need a quote to establish the cost and applicable terms.

Platforms

Adopt is a cloud deployment for browser-based applications on Windows, macOS, IGEL OS, Android, and iOS. Employees need the Nexthink browser extension to access published guides. The extension is available for Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge; Mozilla Firefox is not supported. That requirement makes browser compatibility and extension deployment a practical prerequisite, not a minor convenience.

Who it's for

Adopt is a strong candidate for IT teams using Nexthink that want to guide employees through browser-based enterprise workflows and measure whether those guides are completed. It is less compelling for organizations that need Firefox support, cannot deploy the required extension, or want an independent adoption product without Nexthink Applications dependencies.

Nexthink focuses its software on helping IT shape productive workplaces. Its support addendum describes first-level helpdesk assistance by telephone, email, chat, or other direct messaging, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Nexthink’s Trust Center also describes security and privacy practices that include GDPR, CCPA, and EU AI Act compliance.

Pros and cons

Pros

Guidance plus measurement: contextual guides and dashboards covering duration, completion, and drop-off let teams assess engagement rather than simply publish instructions.
Flexible guide delivery: automatic Walkthroughs and Tooltips, alongside Context help for Walkthroughs and Media guides, support different ways employees encounter assistance.
Regional AI processing and encryption: customer-region AWS Bedrock processing, no use of customer data to train the models, and encryption in transit and at rest provide concrete safeguards.

Cons

Extension deployment is mandatory: employees need the Nexthink extension to receive published guides, adding a deployment dependency.
No Firefox support: organizations that rely on Mozilla’s browser cannot use Adopt there.
Licensing may add cost: an additional license may be necessary, and custom pricing requires a direct quote.
AI and guide actions need oversight: generated content can be inconsistent, and guide actions execute in the user’s session, so review and tightly controlled authoring permissions matter.

Verdict

Choose Nexthink Adopt if your organization already uses Nexthink and needs browser-based guidance whose uptake can be measured. The combination of contextual help and adoption analytics is its clearest advantage. Look elsewhere if Firefox support, avoiding an extension rollout, or predictable standalone licensing is essential.
