Overview

Teams can build self-service menus, department routing and after-hours handling from components such as schedules, decisions, queues, voicemail and human or AI destinations. HTTP actions can exchange data with approved external services, extending a flow beyond fixed call routing. That flexibility is useful when calls need to trigger or consult another service, but it also means the setup is more involved than a basic menu.

Key features

Before release, the builder checks for broken paths, missing assets and invalid settings, while simulation lets teams try caller choices. These checks can catch configuration problems before customers encounter them, though teams still need to decide whether the flow behaves as intended. Drafts, versions, number assignments and production state are kept separate; publishing sends a selected version to an assigned phone number. That separation helps teams manage changes without confusing a draft with a live flow.

Momo describes security measures including tenant separation, permissions, audit trails, secure credential handling, delivery diagnostics, monitoring and incident response. Its privacy practices include access controls, monitoring, encryption where appropriate and retention tied to service, contractual and legal requirements. Customers remain responsible for consent, caller identity, permitted content, opt-outs, recording notices and sector-specific obligations. The IVR page gives support contact support@business.momo.tz and describes a team familiar with regional operations.

Pricing

Pay as you go costs 0.00 TZS per free, with no monthly fee; calls and messages use rate-card prices, and SMS costs TZS 23 each. It avoids a subscription but provides no bundled allowances, so usage-based costs matter.

Starter costs 25000.00 TZS per month, billed monthly. It includes 1 phone number, 300 inbound minutes, 30 outbound minutes, 1,000 WhatsApp messages, 50 IVR runs, 200 flow sessions, TZS 10,000 in AI credits and SMS at TZS 19 per message. It is the entry subscription for a team with modest call and flow volumes.

Growth is 60000.00 TZS per month, billed monthly, for 2 phone numbers, 900 inbound minutes, 90 outbound minutes, 3,000 WhatsApp messages, 150 IVR runs, 600 flow sessions, TZS 20,000 in AI credits and SMS at TZS 17 per message. Business costs 150000.00 TZS per month, billed monthly, and raises those allowances to 4 numbers, 2,700 inbound minutes, 270 outbound minutes, 9,000 WhatsApp messages, 450 IVR runs, 1,800 flow sessions, TZS 40,000 AI credits and SMS at TZS 15 per message. These tiers suit growing operations that need progressively more numbers and usage rather than a different core builder.

Scale costs 380000.00 TZS per month, billed monthly, and includes 8 numbers, 8,100 inbound minutes, 810 outbound minutes, 27,000 WhatsApp messages, 1,350 IVR runs, 5,400 flow sessions, TZS 80,000 AI credits and SMS at TZS 15 per message. Enterprise has custom pricing, with phone numbers, allowances and prices sized to the business and a named contact. The free Pay as you go option has no monthly fee, but the plans with monthly bundles cost more as their allowances grow; teams should match the included quotas to expected usage.

Platforms

The browser version runs without downloads or installation, making it the broadest route for teams across operating systems. A macOS desktop app is available, while Windows and Linux desktop apps are coming soon. Although those systems are listed as platforms, teams that need an installed desktop app on Windows or Linux cannot rely on one yet.

Who it's for

Momo Business IVR is a fit for teams operating for East African customers that need to build, validate and publish call routing with defined usage allowances. It is less suited to buyers seeking a fully bundled, unrestricted plan: monthly tiers have specific quotas, while pay-as-you-go calls and messages are charged at rate-card prices.

Pros and cons

Pros: Pre-publication validation and simulation help teams catch broken routes or missing assets before a flow goes live.
Pros: Separating drafts, versions and production assignments gives teams clearer control over which flow reaches each number.
Pros: Browser access needs no installation, and HTTP actions can connect flows to approved external services.
Cons: Windows and Linux desktop apps are not yet available, limiting teams that require native desktop software.
Cons: Monthly plans cap minutes, messages, IVR runs and sessions, so high usage may require a larger tier or custom arrangement.
Cons: Customers retain responsibility for consent, recording notices and other sector-specific compliance duties.

Alternatives

Compare options in IVR Software if you want to survey the category. Choose Teloz IVR if a free forever plan with 100 minutes of US/Canada calling and mobile apps is a better fit. Voicent offers a free tier with 100 minutes/texts and a Windows or self-hosted option. CallFire IVR is another web and API option, with no free plan and a $99 monthly Lite plan. Consider JVoiceXML for a free VoiceXML interpreter for Java, or Agent Voice Response for free self-hosted use.

Genesys Workforce Engagement Management is a paid alternative with mobile, desktop and web platforms. KloudTalk is a paid option spanning web, desktop and mobile platforms. VoiceGuide is a paid, Windows and self-hosted option with a free trial.

Verdict

Choose Momo Business IVR if your team serves East African customers and needs a visual way to validate, simulate and control published call flows. The strongest reason to choose it is the combination of pre-release checks and clear separation between drafts and live assignments. Look elsewhere if you require an installed Windows or Linux app, or if your usage does not fit its monthly quotas and rate-card model.
