Overview

ESM combines IT service management with asset management, discovery and the Neurons Platform, then adds service modules for HR, facilities, governance, risk and compliance, project portfolio management, and security operations. That breadth makes it a fit for enterprises trying to coordinate service work across departments rather than buy a narrow IT help desk.

Its scope is also its main trade-off: this is a sales-led enterprise purchase, not a clearly priced tool a team can adopt on a simple monthly budget. Ivanti directs buyers to sales for service management options.

Key features

Service workflows across departments

The ESM package includes HR Service Management and Facilities Service Management alongside GRC, Project Portfolio Management and Security Operations Management. Service catalogs, employee portals, knowledge bases, omnichannel intake and workflow automation support a shared service experience. HR knowledge base and HRIS synchronization are included, while portfolio tools cover project intake, prioritization, scenario and capacity planning, budgets, executive reporting and cross-project dependencies. This is useful where departments need connected processes; teams needing only IT ticketing may not benefit from the wider package.

AI assistance and integrations

Analyst AI Assist can correlate incidents, classify and summarize tickets, translate and help write responses, generate knowledge, and create dashboard widgets. The Self-Service AI Agent accepts natural-language requests and troubleshooting queries, and can plan, orchestrate and execute tasks. These capabilities target both service staff and employees seeking self-service, though buyers should weigh the automation scope against the need for an enterprise-wide deployment.

Ivanti says its ITSM module is built around 11 ITIL 4-certified practices. Its low-code/no-code iPaaS, powered by Workato, offers more than 1,000 connectors and templates, with two-way workflows across services such as Microsoft Teams, SAP, Jira, Slack, Salesforce, Workday and Active Directory. That breadth can help connect existing systems without making each integration a bespoke project.

Security and asset operations

IT asset management and asset discovery sit alongside security operations. The latter tracks remediation activities and vulnerabilities and can bring in events through REST APIs and out-of-the-box integrations. Ivanti discusses SOC 2, ISO/IEC 27001 and FedRAMP among its security and compliance frameworks. These features strengthen the case for organizations managing service and security work together, but the package’s range may be unnecessary for teams with a more limited remit.

Pricing

Enterprise Service Management (ESM): custom pricing. The plan includes ITSM capabilities, HR Service Management, Facilities Service Management, GRC, PPM, Security Operations Management and the Self-Service AI Agent. Ivanti directs buyers to contact sales for service management options; iPaaS add-on pricing is also available through sales or a demo request. There is no published seat price or self-serve plan to compare, so budget approval depends on a sales conversation.

Platforms

Ivanti lists Android, iOS, web and API support, with deployment options that include both hosted and self-managed approaches. The solution plans describe mobile-app access, and the product comparison includes omnichannel and mobile service management. This gives distributed employees more than a desktop route into service, while the API and deployment choices suit organizations connecting the platform to existing systems.

Who it's for

ESM is aimed at enterprises extending service management across the organization and supporting workflows outside IT. It is particularly relevant when HR, facilities, project portfolio and security teams need to work within a broader service-management environment. A team looking chiefly for an IT help desk, predictable public pricing or a small free tier should compare more focused products first.

Pros and cons

Pro: ITSM, HR, facilities, GRC, PPM and security operations share one package, making it suited to cross-department service work.
Pro: AI assistance spans ticket handling, knowledge creation and employee self-service rather than stopping at simple response suggestions.
Pro: More than 1,000 iPaaS connectors and two-way workflows offer broad integration options for established enterprise systems.
Con: Custom pricing requires a sales discussion, making quick cost comparisons harder.
Con: The extensive departmental scope is a poor fit if an organization only needs a straightforward IT help desk.

Alternatives

ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus is worth comparing for teams that want a freemium option or published monthly IT help desk plans: Standard is 13.00 USD per month and Professional is 27.00 USD per month, with asset management in the latter.
ServiceNow Enterprise Service Management is another paid ESM option to consider.
OpenText Service Management offers SaaS plans with custom pricing and a stated 99.9% SLA uptime.
Freshservice suits buyers comparing published annual-billed entry pricing and a free trial: Starter is 19.00 USD per month, with knowledge management, task management, a support portal and omnichannel support.
Vivantio is an alternative with a published range of $49–$99 per agent per month, billed annually, and free end users.
Alemba Service Manager is another paid, web-based option to compare.
Matrix42 Enterprise Service Management is another paid ESM option, with Android, iOS and web support.
Jira is worth considering when a freemium product with a free tier and trial is preferable.

Verdict

Ivanti Neurons ESM is the stronger fit for enterprises that want IT and non-IT service operations, portfolio work and security remediation under one broad service-management umbrella. Its combination of cross-department modules, AI assistance and extensive integrations is the reason to choose it. Look elsewhere if a published price, a simple IT help desk or a free starting tier matters more than enterprise-wide scope.
