Overview

Engagement Hub brings mentoring, alumni networking, events, communications, and reporting together rather than treating them as separate programs. That makes it a natural fit for alumni, career, enrollment, experiential learning, and mentorship departments seeking a shared engagement platform. It is designed for institutional use, not as a standalone networking app for individuals.

Its scope reaches from prospective-student outreach through lifelong alumni engagement. The platform also supports pathway planning, education matching, a counselor dashboard, course-level curriculum, and LMS integrations, extending its relevance beyond alumni relations alone.

Key features

Mentoring and connections

AI-assisted matching pairs prospective students, current students, and alumni with peers or mentors according to interests, goals, and career journeys. Schools can support informal conversations, structured career or peer mentoring, or programs administered by PeopleGrove on their behalf. This range suits institutions with different levels of program capacity, though it also means schools should decide how much of the mentoring operation they want to run themselves.

Ask Anything uses AI to route questions to a suitable peer, alumni mentor, or staff expert. Alumni can use it without signing in or creating an account, lowering the barrier to asking for help. The platform also includes conversational prompts, video chat, SMS, notifications, and a mobile app, giving institutions several ways to sustain contact.

Alumni, events, and reporting

An alumni directory, networking groups, and business listings help turn the platform into a continuing community rather than a mentorship-only service. Event and campaign management covers virtual and in-person events, with ticketing, attendance, and fundraising integration. Those tools can support engagement programs that need to connect participation with fundraising activity.

Analytics and CASE-aligned reporting help institutions track outcomes and report engagement. Named integrations include Slate, Salesforce, and GiveCampus. PeopleGrove is SOC 2 certified, a relevant assurance for institutions assessing a platform that handles community and program activity.

Pricing

Engagement Hub is paid software with custom pricing. PeopleGrove invites institutions to speak with an expert about pricing, training, and implementation, so it is not a self-serve purchase with a published entry price. A free plan is available, but no terms or limits for that plan are provided; schools should clarify its scope along with implementation needs before choosing it.

This purchasing model is better suited to institutions evaluating a campus-wide service than to individuals or small groups seeking a clearly priced tool. Schools should also account for training and implementation in their decision, rather than comparing it on subscription price alone.

Platforms

Engagement Hub is available on the web and has mobile apps. Its combination of web access and mobile communication tools supports use by students and alumni beyond campus, while institutional administrators can manage engagement programs centrally.

Who it's for

Colleges and universities looking to connect enrollment, career, mentorship, experiential learning, and alumni efforts are the clearest fit. Schools that want mentoring, networking, events, and reporting in one institutional platform should consider it. It is less compelling for organizations that need only a basic alumni directory or for buyers who require transparent, fixed pricing before entering a sales process.

Pros and cons

Pros: It connects prospective students, current students, alumni, and staff across a long educational timeline, which can support continuity between enrollment, student support, and alumni engagement.
Pros: Mentoring options range from informal introductions to structured programs and PeopleGrove-administered programs, accommodating different institutional operating models.
Pros: Ask Anything allows alumni to ask questions without an account, while event tools connect attendance and ticketing with fundraising integration.
Cons: Custom pricing and a sales-led discussion of training and implementation make early budget comparisons harder.
Cons: The institutional breadth may be more than a school needs if its priority is only a directory or a single mentoring program.

Alternatives

For curriculum-focused needs, consider OpenCurriculum if a free web tool with explicit course and storage limits is a better fit: its Teacher plan is 0.00 USD per free for one user, 10 courses, and 200 MB of file storage, while Team is 0.00 USD per free for up to 10 users, 50 courses, and 1.5 GB total storage. Outcomap is another web option for buyers prioritizing maps: its Free plan is 0.00 USD per free forever, with one map, five AI map generations and edits per month, and PDFs up to five pages; Pro is 7.50 USD per year, billed $90.

Choose Modern Campus CMS if a paid product with Android, iOS, API, self-hosted, and web platforms better matches the requirement. Ilios is a paid, open-source option for buyers who want a community-based application whose code can be forked on GitHub. Kuali Curriculum Management and Akari are curriculum-management alternatives with pricing available through a personalized demo or by requesting a demo, respectively. Atlas may suit schools looking for standards resources or a public Atlas site; its Standards plan is 0.00 USD per free, and Public Atlas Site is 500.00 USD per year as an annual fee. mapEDU is a freemium web alternative.

Verdict

PeopleGrove Engagement Hub is the strongest fit for colleges and universities that want one institutional platform for mentoring, alumni networking, events, communications, and engagement reporting. Its main reason to choose is that it supports relationships from prospective-student outreach through alumni life; its main reason to look elsewhere is the custom-priced, implementation-led buying process, especially if a school needs only a narrower tool.
