Overview

Moesif covers the path from API activity to customer behavior and billing: teams can analyze consumption, monitor for issues and apply quotas or usage-based charges. It supports REST, GraphQL, XML/SOAP and RPC, as well as incoming and outgoing calls. Custom metrics can also bring non-API traffic into the picture, making it relevant to products where API events are only part of customer usage.

Analytics include heat maps, time series, segmentation, funnels, retention charts and customer behavior analysis. Those views can help teams move beyond raw request counts to understand which customers use which capabilities. Monitoring and alerts add operational visibility, while billing meters, prepaid credits, governance and a product catalog extend the platform into monetization. Funnel reports, cohort and retention tools, and warehouse export are supported; session replay is not.

Integrations span gateways and frameworks including Kong, Amazon API Gateway, NGINX, Node.js, Python, Java and .NET. Client-side and adjacent tools include Browser JavaScript, Segment, Google Tag Manager, Salesforce, Slack, PagerDuty and Zapier. That breadth makes Moesif useful across API infrastructure and customer workflows, but teams should consider whether its event-based pricing suits their traffic profile.

Key features

Analytics and monitoring

Heat maps, funnels, segmentation and retention charts help teams connect API activity to customer behavior rather than treating every request alike. Monitoring and alerts complement those reports by surfacing issues that affect performance or customers. Moesif is a stronger fit for teams that need both product insight and operational awareness than for those seeking only a lightweight request counter.

Usage-based monetization

Billing meters, quotas, prepaid credits, governance and a product catalog support teams building paid API access around consumption. These tools can bring measurement and monetization into the same platform, although teams should weigh event costs and the Growth plan’s additional-member charge as usage expands.

Deployment and security

Moesif is a managed SaaS service running on AWS and Azure, and it supports APIs hosted on-premises or in the cloud. It states that it maintains an active SOC 2 Type 2 attestation and encrypts data in transit and at rest in ISO/IEC 27001- and ISO/IEC 27017-compliant data centers. Privacy controls include client-side encryption with BYOK, sensitive-data masking, audit logs, enterprise SSO and fine-grained access control. Enterprise can add customizable retention and a secure proxy for sensitive data or compliance needs.

Pricing

Moesif uses event-based pricing, with a free plan and a 14-day trial. The trial includes all Growth features and 10,000,000 events for 14 days. Paid plans include one year of data retention; Enterprise retention is customizable. Extra self-service events are billed monthly on a pay-as-you-go basis, so high-volume teams should estimate event needs before settling on a plan.

Plan	Price	What it means
Free	0.00 USD per free	Automatically applied after the 14-day trial.
Growth	Custom pricing	The trial includes all Growth features and 10,000,000 events for 14 days. Additional self-service events are pay-as-you-go and invoiced monthly; each additional team member costs $75/month. The per-member charge matters for larger teams.
Enterprise	Custom pricing	Offers custom data retention policies, a secure proxy for sensitive data or compliance needs, and wire transfer/ACH payment. It is the fit for organizations requiring those controls and terms.

Growth and Enterprise have custom pricing. Enterprise prospects can request a proof of concept with deployment assistance. Customers can contact support at support@moesif.com.

Platforms

Moesif is available as a web service and supports API and self-hosted environments. Its managed service runs on AWS and Azure while accommodating APIs hosted on-premises or in the cloud. That combination suits organizations with mixed infrastructure, although it remains a SaaS service rather than a self-hosted Moesif deployment.

Who it's for

Moesif is aimed at API-driven organizations and product-led teams that want to understand how customers and partners consume APIs. It is particularly relevant when analytics, alerts and usage-based monetization need to work together, or when teams need to analyze multiple API styles. Organizations seeking a simple request counter, session replay, or a known fixed Growth price should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pros: Supports REST, GraphQL, XML/SOAP, RPC and custom non-API metrics, giving teams a broad view of product usage.
Pros: Combines analytics, monitoring and monetization tools, which can reduce the gap between understanding usage and charging for it.
Pros: BYOK, masking, audit logs, SSO and fine-grained access control address privacy and access needs.
Cons: Growth adds $75/month for each additional team member, which can raise costs as a team grows.
Cons: Extra self-service events are billed monthly, making traffic growth a pricing consideration.
Cons: Session replay is not supported, and Enterprise retention or secure proxy requirements place some needs in the custom-pricing tier.

Alternatives

Consider API Analytics Software or API Monetization Software if you want to compare category options, or API Marketplace Software and Product Analytics Tools for adjacent categories.

Revenium is worth considering for a free entry point with a defined cap: its Observe plan includes 100,000 transactions/month, seven days of retention and one user, but no SLA.
Apirelio may suit teams that want defined low-cost tiers: Growth is 19.00 USD per month for 2M events/month, five projects, 30-day retention and five members; Scale is 49.00 USD per month.
Atatus API Analytics is an option for teams seeking paid API monitoring with a 14-day free trial and pricing based on infrastructure size, data volume and monitoring needs.
DigitalAPI may fit teams focused on API catalog and governance capabilities, with its Starter plan at 2.50 USD per month including one gateway connection, up to 25 APIs, catalogue, RBAC, docs, sandbox and email support.
API Analytics offers a free plan with up to 1 million stored requests per user; older requests are replaced by new requests.
Apitally is another API analytics option, with a Starter plan that includes three apps, three dashboard users, 1,000 API consumers and unlimited API requests for metrics.
Treblle is an alternative with a Core plan at 233.00 USD per month billed yearly, covering five APIs, 500 requests/min, 5 million API requests/month, 30 days of retention and one workspace.

Verdict

Choose Moesif if your team needs to connect API customer behavior with monitoring and usage-based monetization across varied API styles and infrastructure. Its mix of analytics, billing tools and privacy controls is the central advantage. Look elsewhere if predictable published pricing, session replay or avoiding event-based overages matters more than having those capabilities together.
