Overview

HeyHub Student combines social features, facility services and an on-site marketplace in a digital ecosystem for student housing. Its breadth can help operators consolidate resident-facing tasks, while the custom-priced license and potential integration work call for a deployment decision based on the needs of each site.

Key features

Location-aware communities, interest matching, dynamic profiles, group chats, hangouts and direct messages give residents multiple ways to connect. Events, staff broadcasts, polls and surveys add channels for participation and updates. This mix is useful for properties that want social engagement alongside operational communication, rather than a service-request tool alone.

Residents can report maintenance and wellbeing issues, use keyless entry, contact concierge, book rooms and receive mail or package alerts. The app also supports rent payments, amenity booking, package tracking and resident service requests. For a site seeking to place these functions alongside community features, the combination is a clear strength.

HeyHub Marketplace supports food and drink orders, retail purchases, discounts, table ordering, card payments and on-site job opportunities. Platform transactions use PayPal or Stripe, and HeyHub says it does not hold partner payments. That arrangement may suit partners comfortable with those payment providers; operators should consider it alongside their own transaction requirements.

HeyHub says it can connect with CRM, property-management and access-control systems, and that integrations are possible through its open API. A designated account manager and a customer-service portal monitored daily support partners. HeyHub states that it is GDPR compliant, but does not monitor in-app conversations; users can report misconduct for the partner team to review. That approach leaves conversation moderation to the partner after a report, which operators should account for.

Pricing

The free Free test plan is free and includes HeyHub Community and HeyHub Facility modules for colleagues, with no credit card required. It is a useful way for colleagues to try those modules, but it is not presented as the full student license for residents.

The HeyHub sector-specific license has custom pricing: residential sites are priced per unit, commercial sites per square foot, and mixed-use sites after a site review. Integrations and bespoke development are excluded from the standard license, so sites needing either should factor that into scope and cost discussions. The per-unit or per-area model requires operators to assess the quote against their site's size and requirements.

Platforms

HeyHub Student supports Android, iOS and web, giving residents access across mobile and browser platforms.

Who it's for

It is a stronger match for student accommodation operators seeking community, resident services and marketplace functions together, especially where existing systems need to connect. HeyHub typically recommends deployments of at least 150 units or 50,000 square feet for meaningful impact, though it considers exceptions case by case. After features and products are finalised, launch is estimated at about 8–10 weeks; bespoke development or multiple integrations can extend that timeline. Pilot schemes run from 6 to 12 months, with duration set according to partner requirements and HeyHub's recommendations.

Pros and cons

Pro: Community, communications, facility services and marketplace functions sit in one platform, suiting operators who want more than resident service requests.
Pro: Connections to CRM, property-management and access-control systems can support sites working with existing infrastructure.
Con: The typical scale recommendation may make the product less suitable for smaller properties, despite case-by-case exceptions.
Con: Custom pricing, with integrations and bespoke development outside the standard license, makes budgeting dependent on site scope.
Con: Conversations are not monitored; partners must review misconduct reports.

Alternatives

Property Management Resident Experience Software is a category overview for readers comparing resident platforms.

Flamingo is worth considering for a freemium option with a free resident event marketplace and event-management and engagement-analytics features. Bilt Hospitality for Housing is another paid, demo-led option for owners and operators. Homebody is a paid alternative with a free plan. Zego Resident Experience Management offers custom-priced packages, while BuildingLink uses custom quotes that vary by package, integrations and community size. hoa.to may suit readers who prefer unit-based monthly pricing and a free trial; its Self-managed plan is $0.90 per unit per month with a $29 monthly minimum. MyCoridor offers a free trial and a Basic plan for up to 50 units, priced at $1 per month for the first three months and then $35 per month. Livly is a paid option without a free plan; its Livly Pro tier includes portfolio management, messaging, amenity reservations with payments, an AI-moderated community feed and an AI maintenance assistant.

Verdict

HeyHub Student is a strong candidate for established student accommodation sites that want social engagement, resident services and marketplace functions in one platform. Its breadth and integration potential are the main reasons to choose it; operators should look elsewhere if they need a straightforward low-cost license, a smaller-scale deployment, or in-app conversation monitoring.
