Overview

Floways is church management software for congregations and ministry organizations that want member records, giving and event tools connected in one platform. It is strongest for churches that need more than a people directory; its free modules lower the barrier to entry, while the paid tiers bundle broader capabilities at meaningful monthly cost.

Key features

People and ministry workflows

The People module brings profiles, households, pastoral notes, ministry activity, smart lists, tags, reporting and follow-up workflows together. Digital forms, volunteer background-check management, and email and SMS tools can reduce the need to coordinate those tasks across separate systems. The free People plan includes unlimited profiles, households, workflows, notes, tags and reporting, making it a substantial starting point for churches that mainly need member management.

Connected church modules

Giving, Ticketing, Groups, Services, Check-Ins, Bookings, Registrations, Sites and Content extend the platform beyond member records. Floways says its modules share data and work natively together, which is most valuable for organizations planning to use several modules rather than only one. Custom registration forms, payment collection and attendee check-in support event administration. Registrations are free for events, with standard processing fees for paid events; Ticketing has no module fee but charges A$1 per ticket, or 20% for tickets under A$5, plus card processing.

Security, data and AI

Floways says it hosts on AWS Sydney, keeps AU/NZ customer data in Australia, and encrypts stored data with AES-256 and connections with TLS 1.2 or higher. It says each church has a separate PostgreSQL database. Customers can export data as JSON or CSV at no charge, a useful safeguard when evaluating a long-term system. Payment handling is through PCI-DSS Level 1 compliant processors; Floways says it does not store raw card numbers or CVVs.

Floways AI is described as coming soon, with an assistant, workflow agents and an MCP server for compatible external AI clients. The company says church data is not used to train AI models and that AI features can be disabled by module or organization. Since these capabilities are not yet available, they should not be a deciding reason to subscribe today.

Pricing

Floways combines free modules with paid subscriptions. People, Giving and Registrations are free; Giving has no monthly fee but payment processing charges apply, and paid registrations incur standard processing fees. Australian card processing is 1.75% plus A$0.30 per transaction. BECS direct debit is 1.5% plus A$0.45, capped at A$5.

Ticketing is also a free module, but its per-ticket fee can make it a poor fit for frequent low-priced events: A$1 per ticket, or 20% under A$5, is charged in addition to card processing.

Floways Core is billed A$99/mo, AUD, excluding GST, and includes nine modules at unlimited tiers. It excludes Sites and App and has a 30-day trial. This tier suits churches seeking a broad core system without the full web and app offering. Shared storage is 10 GB.

Floways Complete is billed A$169/mo, AUD, excluding GST, and includes every available module, with Sites and App at Ultimate tier plus the Church Hub shared app. Its 25 GB shared storage and wider module coverage suit organizations that will use the full platform; smaller churches may be paying for breadth they do not need. Build Your Subscription offers 2 GB shared storage, while additional storage across plans is available for a monthly fee.

Large Church has custom subscription pricing for organizations with 500+ members; volume rebates are available and dedicated support is included. Dedicated Support is otherwise an optional A$799 per year plus GST add-on, covering priority email and phone support and a named contact. That charge should be included in the budget for churches that need this support level.

Platforms

Floways is available on Android, iOS and the web. The Complete plan includes the Church Hub shared app, while the platform also offers a dedicated App module.

Who it's for

Floways identifies local churches, denominational bodies, parachurch ministries and faith-based nonprofits as its intended users. It is a particularly good match for organizations that want member management alongside giving, events and ministry workflows, and can justify a subscription as they move beyond free modules. A church seeking only a small, low-cost people database may find Core's monthly fee unnecessary.

Pros and cons

Pros

Useful free foundation: People includes unlimited profiles and core record-management tools, while Giving and Registrations carry no monthly module fee.
Broad connected scope: The twelve-module design can consolidate member, event and ministry administration for churches adopting multiple parts of the platform.
Clear data protections and portability: The stated encryption, Australian hosting for AU/NZ data, tenant separation and free JSON or CSV exports address important operational concerns.

Cons

Paid tiers step up quickly: Core costs A$99/mo and Complete A$169/mo, both excluding GST, which may be difficult to justify for organizations needing only a subset of tools.
Some event costs sit outside subscription pricing: Ticketing adds a per-ticket charge plus card processing, and payment processing fees also apply to giving and paid registrations.
Storage varies by tier: Build Your Subscription starts at 2 GB, compared with 10 GB for Core and 25 GB for Complete; extra storage costs monthly.
AI is not yet available: The planned AI tools cannot serve as a current advantage in a purchase decision.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison, see Church Event Management Software.

Choose ChurchPlan instead if a free plan with unlimited members, online giving, automated tax receipts and a personalized church mobile app best matches your needs. Subsplash Church App is another option to consider for its free Subsplash Giving plan, with card and ACH processing fees.

TimelyChurch may suit a smaller church wanting a free tier capped at 100 people and 500 MB, or a Growth plan priced at $49 per month or $488 per year for up to 500 people. Faith Teams offers a free account capped at 100 active people, with online giving required within 30 days of signup.

Fellowr is worth comparing if you prefer a free plan with no member cap and can work within metered allowances. Planning Center may fit churches that prefer separate free modules, including Calendar for one room and People with an unlimited database and reporting.

Consider ChurchTrac if paid monthly plans based on people counts better suit your budgeting. Convoke may be a better fit for event registration needs, with a free Starter plan for up to 50 registered attendees.

Verdict

Floways is a strong choice for churches and faith-based organizations that want member management connected to giving, events and ministry operations, and are prepared to pay for a wider platform as needs grow. Its unlimited free People plan and broad module set are compelling advantages. Look elsewhere if your requirements are narrow, your event volumes make per-ticket charges unattractive, or the A$99/mo Core starting point exceeds your budget.
