Overview

Skylight Calendar is a WiFi-connected touchscreen for coordinating a household’s schedules, chores, and lists, with companion mobile and desktop apps. It suits families who want shared planning visible around the home; the trade-off is committing to a plugged-in display and, for its fuller set of tools, a paid Plus plan.

Key features

Calendar syncing works in both directions with Google, Apple, Outlook, Yahoo, Cozi, Readdle Calendars, and calendars shared by public link. That broad compatibility can bring existing schedules into a family view without making Skylight the household’s only calendar. The free tier covers calendar management, tasks, and lists on the display or in Skylight’s mobile and desktop apps.

Household organization goes beyond appointments: members can have chores assigned, and families can create as many kinds of lists as they need; a grocery list is included by default. Multiple Skylight displays can be linked across rooms or households, sharing events, chores, lists, meals, and other data. That is useful for a large or distributed household, but the always-on WiFi and outlet requirements make placement dependent on connectivity and power.

Calendar Plus adds event and list import, habit tracking, rewards, meal planning, photo screensavers, and Disney-themed animations and screensavers. These additions make the subscription most relevant to families who will use planning and engagement tools regularly, rather than those who only need a shared calendar and basic lists. Calendar Max can add its Grocery List items to an Instacart order in two taps, a convenience limited to the US.

Skylight says its team is available 24/7, 365 days a year. Purchases from myskylight.com can be returned for a full refund within four months, and covered device issues in the first three years are replaced free of charge. Skylight says software updates and support for the listed Calendar products are available for two years beginning July 15, 2024; vulnerabilities can be reported by email. Its privacy statement identifies Glimpse LLC as the maker and says it collects account, calendar, photo, device, and usage data.

Pricing

Skylight’s pricing combines a one-time hardware purchase with an optional subscription, while the product’s pricing summary also describes a free plan and paid plans from $79/yr. The 10-inch Calendar costs 149.99 USD per once and includes one free month of Plus; after that, Calendar Plus is 79.00 USD per year, with the first month free before the annual charge. Plus is the choice for households that want imports, meal planning, rewards, habit tracking, or its photo and Disney screensavers. Families content with calendar management, tasks, and lists can stay on the free feature set.

Hardware choices are the 10-inch Calendar at 149.99 USD per once, a 15-inch Calendar with refurbished memory at 269.99 USD per once, a 15-inch Calendar 2 with advanced hardware and swappable Snap Frames at 319.99 USD per once, or Calendar Max at 599.99 USD per once. Max has a 27-inch QHD touchscreen, is wall-mounting only, and makes Plus optional. These are substantial differences in display size and mounting flexibility, so the larger models make sense only if their form factor fits the home. The separate Skylight Calendar 10-inch plan is priced at 149.99 USD per month and includes a 10-inch HD touchscreen, Tasks Manager, color coding, mobile app, custom lists, and WiFi connectivity; that monthly term is a major cost distinction from the one-time 10-inch purchase.

Platforms

Skylight Calendar supports Android, iOS, and web access, with mobile apps for iOS and Android and desktop-app access for free features. The display itself needs WiFi at all times and must be plugged into an outlet, so it is not a portable, battery-powered calendar.

Who it's for

Skylight is best for families who want schedules and household tasks visible on a shared screen, especially when they already use one of its supported calendars. Chores for multiple people, shared lists, reminders, meal planning, and linked displays give it a practical household focus. It is less suitable for anyone seeking a screen-free or portable system, or for households unwilling to depend on a continuously connected, powered device.

Pros and cons

Pro: Two-way sync across several popular calendar services helps keep an existing schedule connected to the shared display.
Pro: Shared chores, flexible lists, reminders, and linked displays address household coordination beyond calendar events.
Pro: A free feature set covers calendars, tasks, and lists, while Plus keeps additional planning and display features optional.
Con: The display requires constant WiFi and an outlet, limiting where it can be used.
Con: The Plus feature set adds an ongoing annual subscription after its free first month.
Con: Calendar Max is wall-mounting only, which rules it out for households wanting a movable display.

Alternatives

For other household-focused options, browse Family Calendar Apps or Calendar apps. Choose FamCal if you want a family organization app available on Android, iOS, macOS, and web; its annual Premium subscription is 39.99 USD per year. Famnest is a fit for families wanting a free shared calendar, to-dos, chores and routines, meal-planning basics, and recipes, with a premium tier at 6.99 USD. OpenFamily offers a free self-hosted option for people who want to keep their data on their own infrastructure.

Ahenora is worth considering for a family of two adults wanting shared tasks, calendar, lists, chat, and reminders in its free plan. Fami combines a shared calendar, chores, shopping list, budget, and family places in its free core feature set. Equal House offers a free shared calendar, meals, and parties within a three-day planning horizon, alongside its Fairness Engine and Auto-Balance. Famnly is an iOS-only alternative with a free plan that includes one managed member. Cozi is a simpler option for shared calendars, automatic notifications, grocery and to-do lists, and a recipe library on its free plan.

Verdict

Choose Skylight Calendar if your family will benefit from schedules, chores, and lists gathered on a shared touchscreen, with optional Plus tools for deeper planning. Its broad calendar syncing and household features are the draw; look elsewhere if constant WiFi, a plugged-in display, or the extra Plus subscription does not fit your home or budget.
