Overview

Drooms is a virtual data room for teams handling sensitive documents and deal workflows. It is best suited to M&A, due diligence, fundraising, and asset-management work that needs controlled access and structured Q&A. Its strongest case is the combination of granular permissions and collaborative review; the main trade-off is that Starter’s storage and seat caps make it a narrow starting point.

Key features

Deal review and coordination

The Q&A workspace supports approval levels, attachments, and links between questions, answers, and documents, which helps keep transaction discussions connected to the material they concern. Notes & Highlights support collaborative review, while audit trails and document watermarking add useful oversight for confidential projects.

Listed AI functions cover redaction, document naming and allocation, translation, and question answering. These can reduce routine document-handling work, but access depends on plan: Business includes full AI capability, while Professional names Drooms Intelligence, limited redaction, and document translation.

Access and security

SSO, two-factor authentication, and permissions at both user and document level give administrators several ways to control access. Drooms says transfers use SSL and AES 256-bit encryption, and cites ISO 27001:2022 and ISO 27018:2020 certifications. It also says data is processed and stored on European infrastructure with georedundant servers, and states annual system availability of 99.9%.

The company says it regularly conducts internal and external security audits and penetration tests. Its mobile app supports Q&A, document browsing, folder management, access control, chat, notifications, translations, and AI Assistant; sign-in options include password, SSO, and Face ID. An API factsheet describes data-room creation, user management, SSO, CRM synchronization, and reporting-data import, making the product relevant to organizations that need workflow integration.

Pricing

Starter is free and includes 150 MB of storage, 2 user licenses, 3 data room projects, and 24/7 email support only. That is enough to begin a small project, but the limited storage and seats make it poorly suited to a substantial transaction. Drooms also states 0.5 GB of storage included, while the Starter plan specifies 150 MB.

Business is €19/mo and lists 2–10 GB of storage, 20–100 user licenses, unlimited projects, and full AI capability. It fits teams that need room for more participants and projects alongside the broadest AI access. Professional is also €19/mo; it lists 500 MB–10 GB, 2–20 user licenses, unlimited projects, Drooms Intelligence, limited redaction, and translation. It may suit smaller teams that can work within those narrower AI and seat allowances. The pricing page shows €19 annually for both plans; Professional also says annual billing saves 10%, while Business displays monthly and annual options.

Enterprise uses custom pricing, with tailored configurations, dedicated onboarding and a customer success manager, premium features, priority support, and flexible billing. It is the tier to consider when standard plan limits or support arrangements do not fit the project.

Platforms

Drooms is available on the web and iOS. Its iOS app covers key review and coordination tasks, but the listed platform range is narrower than web-plus-mobile suites spanning more operating systems.

Who it's for

Drooms is a strong fit for organizations running confidential due diligence, M&A, fundraising, asset-management, or non-performing-loan projects, especially when review questions, document controls, and European data infrastructure matter. Small teams can start free, while larger projects can move to unlimited-project paid tiers. It is less compelling for a short or very small project that needs only basic document sharing, since Starter’s 150 MB and two licenses leave little room to grow.

Pros and cons

Pros: Q&A approvals, document-linked discussions, and collaborative notes keep review work organized around transaction documents.
Pros: Granular permissions, SSO, two-factor authentication, audit trails, and watermarking provide several layers of access and activity control.
Pros: European data infrastructure and stated 99.9% annual availability address important operational considerations for sensitive projects.
Cons: Starter’s 150 MB, two licenses, and three projects constrain its usefulness beyond a small initial project.
Cons: AI access is tier-dependent; Professional limits redaction and has fewer listed user licenses than Business.
Cons: The listed platform options are web and iOS, which may not suit teams that require broader operating-system coverage.

Alternatives

Ellty is worth considering for a web-based free option: its Standard plan is $0.00 USD per month billed annually and includes one user, 50 GB per user, a 2 GB maximum upload, and 200 assets per room. Its published allowance is far larger than Drooms Starter’s, though the stated plan is limited to one user.

Ansarada offers free data-room setup and preparation until the room goes live or 90 days after creation, whichever comes first, so it may suit a project that needs a defined preparation period before launch.

netfiles Deal Room is a paid alternative with a free trial and support across many listed platforms, including Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, Windows, and web. Consider it when operating-system coverage matters more than Drooms’ listed web-and-iOS availability.

Peony is another freemium web option, with a free tier capped at 50 documents. Its listed Business plan is $30.00 USD per month billed annually, for up to 1,000 documents and three data rooms per admin.

FORDATA VDR is a paid alternative with a free trial and a broader set of listed platforms, including self-hosted deployment. Its LITE plan is €275.00 EUR per month and includes 1 GB of storage and 15 users.

iDeals Virtual Data Room is a paid option with a free trial; its Premier plan includes a single project, unlimited administrators and users, and tailored storage.

ShareVault is a paid alternative with a free trial and plans for advisory projects, one-off transactions, and internal or board document sharing.

Clinked is a paid option with a free trial and listed Android, iOS, and web support; its Start Up plan shows 200 GB of storage and 1–25 users, with monthly pricing shown at $11 per user.

Verdict

Choose Drooms for confidential deal work where document-level controls, linked Q&A, and collaborative review belong in the same data room. Its free tier lowers the barrier to starting a project, and paid plans expand seats, storage, and AI capability. Look elsewhere if you need a generous free workspace, wider platform coverage, or a plan whose allowances are not tier-dependent.
