Overview

Pelcro is a subscription and membership platform for publishers and membership organizations. It suits teams selling access to digital or print content, memberships, or donations, especially when they need configurable paywalls and developer tools. Its strongest case is bringing those revenue models together; customer caps and custom-work charges deserve a close look before committing.

Key features

Pelcro supports metered and premium-content paywalls, registration walls, and entitlement rules. Publishers can build custom paywalls without code, then target them by location, device, or user behaviour and compare variants through A/B testing and analytics. That combination is useful for organizations tuning conversion, though the customer limits attached to plans may constrain growth.

Subscriptions cover digital and print products with recurring monthly, annual, or custom billing cycles. Membership tiers and one-time or recurring donations share the checkout flow, while group licenses let organizations provision and reassign seats for teams, schools, or other groups. These options make Pelcro more suitable for publishers with varied access models than a tool focused only on one-off sales.

Integrations include Stripe, PayPal, Tap Payments, WorldPay, Cybersource, Google Analytics, Mailchimp, WordPress, and Zapier. Open API and Core API resources, a JavaScript SDK, and webhooks provide routes for custom integrations and event notifications. Pelcro says it undergoes annual independent SOC 2 audits and has completed a SOC 2 Type II audit covering Security and Availability. Stripe Elements is the default for card payments, keeping card data in Stripe-hosted fields rather than Pelcro or customer servers.

Pricing

Pelcro has a free plan and paid plans from $450/mo. The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and is billed monthly, with a 100-customer cap. It is a small-scale starting point, but that cap makes it a poor fit for a growing audience.

Advanced costs 450.00 USD per month, billed $450 Per Month, and covers up to 2,000 customers. It includes a $100 signup credit, $5.63 AI credits/mo, APIs and webhooks, Apple Pay and Google Pay, and an unbranded interface. This is the clearest fit for a publisher needing those capabilities below 2,000 customers; the free tier's lower cap makes it a substantial step up in capacity.

Professional costs 800.00 USD per month, billed $800 Per Month, for up to 5,000 customers. It adds group subscriptions, tax management, and accounting reports, alongside a $100 signup credit and $10 AI credits/mo. Organizations needing group licensing or those reporting tools have a concrete reason to choose it over Advanced. Enterprise is custom pricing for 5,000+ customers.

Pelcro says it charges no transaction fees beyond the payment processor's fees and no setup fees unless customizations, migrations, or integrations are requested. Customer caps and starred features vary by plan, so confirm the fit with sales, particularly if you expect to need custom work.

Platforms

Pelcro supports Android, iOS, web, and API access. That mix accommodates mobile and web offerings as well as custom integrations.

Who it's for

Pelcro is aimed at media companies, magazines, newspapers, B2B publications, nonprofits, and professional associations across North America and Europe. It makes most sense for an organization combining paid content with memberships or donations, or one that needs group access and custom integrations. A small publisher with no need for these capabilities may find the 100-customer free-plan ceiling limiting as it grows.

Pros and cons

Pro: Metered and premium paywalls, subscriptions, memberships, and donations fit within one platform, supporting multiple revenue models.
Pro: Targeting, A/B testing, and analytics give publishers tools to refine paywall presentation.
Pro: Group seat provisioning and reassignment address organizational subscriptions, while APIs, SDK, and webhooks support custom setups.
Con: The free plan stops at 100 customers, and paid plans also impose customer caps.
Con: Custom pricing for Enterprise and possible fees for customizations, migrations, or integrations make larger or nonstandard deployments harder to budget upfront.

Verdict

Choose Pelcro if your publishing or membership organization needs paywalls alongside recurring subscriptions, group access, or donations, and values options for targeting and custom integration. Its broad revenue toolkit is the central reason to choose it. Look elsewhere if the 100-customer free cap or the paid-plan limits do not suit your scale, or if custom deployment costs make the budget uncertain.
