Overview

Freshsales is a sales CRM from Freshworks for teams that need to manage leads, conversations, and deals in one place. It suits small and growing sales teams especially well, though the three-user free-plan cap and steeper Pro and Enterprise prices make team growth a cost to plan for.

Its strongest case is the combination of communication channels, pipeline management, and sales automation, with Freddy AI supporting lead and deal work. The trade-off is that several more advanced controls—such as territory management and audit logs—sit on higher-priced plans.

Key features

Lead, contact, and deal management

Freshsales supports lead capture, qualification, routing, and tracking, alongside lead scoring and capture forms. A 360-degree contact view follows customers through their buying journey, while teams can customize pipeline stages, move deals through kanban views, and use forecasting and AI-powered closing recommendations. These tools give sales teams a connected view of prospects and deal progress; teams needing territory management or contact scoring must move to Pro.

Communication and automation

Built-in email, phone, and chat keep customer conversations alongside CRM work, with integrations for Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp Business. Email sync, templates, customer journeys, task management, auto-assignment, sales sequences, workflows, and internal notifications cover routine follow-up and coordination. Growth includes basic workflows, while sales sequences are a Pro feature, so teams with more involved outreach needs should account for the upgrade.

Freddy AI and integrations

Freddy AI can surface leads and deals, offer insights, help write emails, and recommend ways to close deals. Paid plans include 500 chatbot sessions once per account; each session lasts at most 24 hours, and session validity follows the payment cycle. Freshsales connects to more than 100 apps through the Freshworks Marketplace and offers APIs for custom integrations.

Mobile and security

The iOS and Android apps support offline mode, Google Maps synchronization, check-in, voice notes, and Gmail and Outlook add-ons. That makes the mobile offering more than a compact pipeline viewer for teams working away from a desk. Freshworks says its application receives current security patches; its Trust Center lists ISO/IEC 27001:2022, ISO/IEC 27701:2019, SOC 3, SOC 2 Type 2, and other compliance materials.

Pricing

Freshsales has a free plan and paid plans billed annually. Growth starts at $9 per user per month, Pro at $39 per month, and Enterprise at $59 per month; the latter two prices are also billed annually. Growth is the economical starting point for startups and SMBs: it includes kanban, contact lifecycle stages, chat, email and phone, email templates, custom fields, and basic workflows. Its modest price comes with a narrower feature set than the upper tiers.

Pro is aimed at growing and mid-sized businesses and adds contact scoring, deal insights, custom sales activities, territory management, and sales sequences. Enterprise targets mid to large-sized businesses, adding forecasting insights, field-level permissions, custom modules, a sandbox, and audit logs. These upgrades are most relevant when teams need more structured oversight and control; smaller teams may not need to pay for them.

The free plan costs $0.00 USD per free and supports up to three users, which is useful for a small team evaluating a shared CRM but restrictive as headcount grows. A 21-day trial opens the fully loaded CRM. To keep using the service afterward, users must choose a plan and pay by credit card; otherwise, accounts are suspended. Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express are accepted across currencies.

Platforms

Freshsales is available on web, iOS, Android, and as an extension, with API support. Its mobile apps add offline access and practical field-work tools such as check-in and voice notes.

Who it's for

Freshsales is a strong fit for startups and SMBs that want lead management, customer communications, pipeline tracking, and basic workflows in a single CRM. The free tier can accommodate a team of up to three, while Growth offers a relatively accessible paid entry point. Larger or more process-heavy sales organizations should compare the cost of Pro and Enterprise against their need for scoring, sequences, territory controls, or auditability.

Pros and cons

Pros: Chat, email, and phone are built into the CRM, keeping customer communication close to leads and deals.
Pros: Growth includes kanban, custom fields, and basic workflows, giving small teams a useful sales process foundation.
Pros: Mobile offline mode, check-in, voice notes, and map synchronization support field-based work.
Cons: The free plan is capped at three users, so even a modestly larger team must pay.
Cons: Sales sequences, territory management, and contact scoring require the $39-per-month Pro plan, well above Growth's starting price.
Cons: Trial accounts are suspended unless users continue on a paid plan after 21 days, so evaluation requires a timely purchasing decision.

Alternatives

For a dedicated CRM shortlist, compare CRM Software and Sales Force Automation Software. Freshsales is also relevant to teams exploring Insurance CRM Software, Professional Services CRM Software, and CRM Data Migration Software. For conversion-focused tools, see Conversion Rate Optimization Software.

Choose Webflow CMS instead when the priority is a free way to explore a web CMS, with limited CMS, two static pages, 1 GB bandwidth, and 50 form submissions. Omniconvert Explore is an alternative for website visitor exploration, offering its full Explore feature set free for up to 50,000 visitors without a credit card. Consider Zoho PageSense for website testing and optimization, with a free tier covering 5,000 monthly tracked users, one project, one-month data retention, and five goals.

ConvertFlow is another option for funnel campaigns: its free plan allows five campaigns, while integrations require a paid plan. FigPii suits teams looking for free experimentation tools, including unlimited A/B tests, heatmaps, recordings, and polls within a 15,000-visitor monthly limit. For personalization, Croct offers a free tier for up to 10,000 monthly active users, with content personalization and A/B testing. FunnelKit is an alternative to consider for funnel and checkout tools. Personyze is another option to compare for personalization.

Verdict

Freshsales is a sensible choice for small and growing sales teams that want communication channels, lead and deal management, and automation joined in one CRM. Growth is the clearest fit for a team seeking those essentials at a lower annual-billing entry price; look elsewhere or budget for a higher tier if your team exceeds three users on free or needs advanced controls and sequences.
