Overview

Boomerang covers both sides of inbox timing: users can schedule outgoing mail, snooze messages, and set follow-up reminders, or pause incoming mail until they are ready to deal with it. Meeting booking and email-writing guidance extend it beyond a send-later utility. That breadth is most useful when email and scheduling are both regular parts of a person's work; someone who only wants to delay a few messages may find the paid plans more than they need.

Key features

Email timing and follow-up

Send Later schedules delivery, while snoozing and reminders bring messages back when attention is needed. Inbox Pause can stop new messages arriving and can be scheduled to activate automatically. This is a practical set of controls for people who need to protect focus time without losing track of follow-ups. Basic allows only 10 message credits per month, however, so it is a restrictive long-term option for frequent use.

Meeting scheduling and writing guidance

Magic Live Calendar supports bookable schedules, suggested meeting times, free/busy sharing, and team scheduling. Team scheduling works with Zoom and Google Meet and supports multiple calendars, which makes it more relevant to teams coordinating across calendars than to users who only need personal appointment booking. Respondable uses AI to offer real-time advice on email effectiveness and tone; Pro includes its advanced version.

Tracking and integrations

Boomerang supports open, reply, and click tracking, as well as real-time alerts and CRM synchronization. Premium adds Track by Default and Salesforce/CRM Integration, giving it a clearer fit for sales or customer-facing work where tracking and CRM connections matter. Teams are also presented for sales, customer success, recruiting, and education use cases.

Security and support

Baydin says it completes SOC 2 Type II audits annually. Boomerang says it stores message headers to identify messages for sending or returning, not message bodies, and that its Gmail service uses Google OAuth 2.0 rather than accessing user passwords. Technical support is available by email; the Teams offering lists priority email support.

Pricing

Boomerang is freemium, with a 30-day trial and paid plans starting at 4.98 USD per user per month billed annually. Basic costs 0.00 USD per free and includes 10 message credits per month, Gmail/G Suite, Send Later, and Boomerang Reminders. It is enough for occasional use, but the cap makes it a poor fit for an active inbox routine.

Personal costs 4.98 USD per month billed annually and provides unlimited message credits, Gmail, iPhone and Android apps, and Notes. It is the least expensive paid option and the natural step up for an individual who needs regular use and mobile access, but it does not include the advanced Respondable or Inbox Pause features named in Pro.

Pro costs 14.98 USD per month billed annually. It includes unlimited message credits, Gmail/G Suite, Advanced Respondable, Advanced Inbox Pause, and Recurring Messages. This is the stronger fit for users who want deeper writing and inbox controls, though it costs substantially more than Personal.

Premium costs 49.98 USD per month billed annually and adds Track by Default, Premium Support, and Salesforce/CRM Integration alongside unlimited message credits and Gmail/G Suite. It is aimed at users or teams that can make use of those sales-oriented tracking and CRM capabilities; it is difficult to justify for someone who only needs scheduling and reminders. Teams has custom pricing, with priority email support.

Platforms

Boomerang for Gmail is offered as a browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, and Opera. The service lists Gmail and Outlook among its email-client support, and mobile apps are available for iOS and Android, with mobile access included in paid plans beginning with Personal. The broader platform listing also includes macOS and Windows.

Who it's for

Boomerang is a good match for Gmail users who regularly schedule messages, manage follow-ups, or want to limit incoming distractions. It becomes more compelling for people who also arrange meetings or need email tracking, and for teams that use CRM integrations. It is less suitable for occasional users who can stay within a small free allowance or for anyone seeking only a simple scheduling tool without the broader set of features.

Pros and cons

Pros: Send scheduling, snoozing, reminders, and scheduled Inbox Pause cover outgoing and incoming email timing.
Pros: Magic Live Calendar combines suggested times, bookable schedules, free/busy sharing, and team scheduling, with Zoom and Google Meet integrations.
Pros: Tracking spans opens, replies, and clicks, while Premium adds default tracking and Salesforce/CRM integration.
Cons: Basic's 10 monthly message credits are too few for many regular users.
Cons: Mobile access begins with the annually billed Personal plan, so free users do not get the mobile apps as a plan benefit.
Cons: Advanced writing and inbox controls require Pro, while CRM integration and premium support sit at the much higher-priced Premium tier.

Alternatives

Mailbutler Smart Assistant is another freemium option with a free plan and broader listed platform coverage, including web and Linux; its Starter tier notes that sent emails include a visible Mailbutler element.

Mixmax may suit readers focused on tracked email volume or sequences: its free plan allows 20 tracked emails per month and up to 50 sequence recipients per month.

Mailsuite is an alternative for readers who want a freemium email-tracking tool with a listed Mailtrack plan at 6.99 USD per month, including unlimited tracked emails and seven days of tracking history.

Right Inbox has a free Limited plan for solo use with five emails per month, so it is a possibility for very light use rather than a high-volume workflow.

Yesware offers a free plan with basic open and attachment tracking, 10 campaign recipients per month, and a meeting scheduler.

Streak may appeal to readers who need mail merge, with its free plan allowing 50 mail merge sends per day.

LeadBoxer is another freemium option, with free plans for its app and platform.

RevenueGrid is a paid alternative with a free trial and a Salesforce-focused Activity Capture 360 plan.

Verdict

Boomerang is a strong choice for Gmail users who want one tool for message timing, follow-up, meeting coordination, and writing guidance, with higher tiers extending into tracking and CRM work. The main reason to choose it is that breadth; the main reason to look elsewhere is the sharp gap between Basic's 10 monthly credits and the annual-billed paid plans needed for unlimited use and mobile access.
