Overview

Founded in 2010, Boomerang brings together tools for sending, tracking and managing email, alongside ways to coordinate meeting times. That combination makes it a stronger fit for people who manage recurring correspondence and inbox volume than for someone who only occasionally schedules a message.

The plans are not interchangeable across account types: Personal is for Gmail addresses, while Basic, Pro and Premium support Gmail and Google Workspace accounts. Check that distinction before choosing a tier, especially if you use a work account.

Key features

Email controls and writing help

Send Later, follow-up reminders, snoozing, read receipts and Inbox Pause cover different parts of the email cycle. Automated follow-ups and recurring emails add value for repeat communication; Respondable offers real-time AI suggestions intended to make messages more actionable and help select a tone. These tools are most useful when email is a daily workflow, rather than an occasional task.

Basic counts messages scheduled with Boomerang features against its 10 monthly message credits. That cap can make the free plan a brief trial of routine use rather than a durable option for people scheduling messages often.

Meeting coordination

Meeting Poll lets invitees vote on a time, while Bookable Schedule, Free/Busy sharing and Suggest Times support other scheduling needs. Bookable Schedule can use multiple calendars: the Gmail product page identifies Zoom and Google Meet integrations, and the Outlook page identifies Microsoft Teams and Zoom. That gives teams several ways to coordinate, though the relevant meeting integrations depend on whether you use the Gmail or Outlook product.

Boomerang says it holds SOC 2 certification for enterprise security and compliance. Premium includes priority support; the enterprise offering adds a dedicated customer success manager, onboarding and customized training.

Pricing

Boomerang is freemium, with a free plan and a 30-day trial. Basic costs 0.00 USD per free and allows 10 message credits per month for Gmail and Google Workspace accounts. It is a reasonable starting point for light use, but the cap matters if you schedule messages regularly.

Personal costs 4.98 USD per month, billed annually. It provides unlimited message credits and iPhone and Android apps, but only for Gmail accounts. It suits an individual Gmail user who wants to move beyond Basic’s quota without needing the advanced features in higher tiers.

Pro costs 14.98 USD per month, billed annually, for Gmail and Google Workspace accounts. It adds advanced Inbox Pause and Respondable features and recurring messages, on top of unlimited message credits. This is the more appropriate tier for people who use inbox controls and writing assistance as part of a regular workflow.

Premium costs 49.98 USD per month, billed annually, and also supports Gmail and Google Workspace. It includes unlimited message credits, Track by Default, priority support, Toolbox and Salesforce/CRM integration. The higher price is easiest to justify when tracking, CRM integration or priority support is important; those extras are harder to value for someone who mainly needs scheduling and reminders. The enterprise offering has custom pricing and includes a dedicated customer success manager, onboarding, customized training and priority support.

Platforms

Boomerang is available on Android, iOS, the web and as a browser extension. Its mobile apps are also included with Personal, while that plan’s Gmail-only account eligibility may rule it out for Google Workspace users.

Who it's for

The Outlook product page describes use by sales and business people, small businesses, freelancers, executives and people with crowded inboxes. In practice, the broad feature mix best serves users who need email follow-up and inbox control alongside meeting coordination. It is a weaker choice for someone who wants occasional scheduling without a recurring need for the wider toolkit.

Pros and cons

Pros: Email scheduling, follow-up reminders, snoozing, read receipts and Inbox Pause address several inbox tasks in one product.
Pros: Meeting Poll, Bookable Schedule, Free/Busy sharing and Suggest Times support both group availability and booking needs.
Pros: Unlimited message credits start with Personal, and Pro and Premium also cover Google Workspace accounts.
Cons: Basic’s 10 monthly message credits can be restrictive for frequent scheduling.
Cons: Personal is limited to Gmail, so it is not the paid entry point for Google Workspace users.
Cons: Pro and Premium require annual billing, and Premium’s 49.98 USD per month may be difficult to justify without its tracking, CRM or support benefits.

Alternatives

For a broader category comparison, see Email Scheduling Software.

Mixmax is another freemium option with a free plan and a free trial; its Free tier includes 20 tracked emails per month and up to 50 sequence recipients per month. Choose it if those tracking and sequence limits better match your needs.

FollowUpThen offers a free plan with 50 active followups per month and apps for Android, iOS and web. It is worth considering if follow-up reminders are the priority and that monthly allowance is sufficient.

Hunter has a free plan with 50 monthly credits and one connected email account, and supports API, extension and web access. It is an alternative if that credit-based approach and platform mix suit your workflow.

Yesware includes basic open and attachment tracking, 10 campaign recipients per month and a meeting scheduler on its free plan. Choose it if those specific free-tier features matter more than Boomerang’s inbox controls.

Right Inbox has a free Limited plan for solo use, capped at five emails per month and excluding mail merge, sequences and CRM integration. It is an option for very light individual use.

Mailmeteor offers a free Hobby plan with 500 emails per month, templates, tracking, scheduling and attachments. That is a better fit if a higher monthly email allowance and those sending tools are the main criteria.

Scurry has a free Seedling plan with 100 Acorns per month, three emails per sequence and one active workflow. Consider it if those workflow limits fit your needs.

SendLater offers a Windows-only free plan that schedules email once, with resend delay limited to a maximum of four hours. It is a simpler alternative if Windows access and that narrow scheduling use are enough.

Verdict

Boomerang is a strong fit for Gmail or Outlook users who regularly manage follow-ups, inbox volume and meeting coordination, and its range of controls is the main reason to choose it. Look elsewhere if you only need occasional message scheduling: Basic’s 10 monthly credits run out quickly, while unlimited credits require a paid plan.
