Overview

Boardable is governance software for nonprofit boards, committees, and the people who support them. It is best suited to organizations that want preparation, meetings, decisions, and follow-up in one place. The trade-off is a paid, per-seat service with plan caps that matter as an organization grows.

Key features

Timed agendas can include attachments and be assembled into shareable board packets, giving members a focused set of materials to prepare from. Scheduling, secure video meetings, polls, votes, motion tracking, and minute taking extend that workflow into the meeting; decision and action-item tracking help carry work forward. Templates and recurring meetings suit boards with regular cycles, while outcome reporting adds a way to follow results.

Discussions, documents, and tasks sit alongside meeting tools. Integrations include Google Drive, Dropbox, SharePoint, Office 365, OneDrive, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and YouTube livestreaming. That breadth is useful for organizations already relying on those services, though the product’s core value is the combined governance workflow rather than a single meeting feature.

The iOS and Android apps provide access to meetings, packets, documents, discussions, polls, tasks, and the directory. That should help board members who need materials away from a desktop. Boardable says it uses AWS hosting, TLS 1.2+ in transit, AWS-managed encryption at rest, SSO, and two-factor authentication. It also states support for SOC 2, HIPAA, and GDPR standards, selectable US, Canada, or EU data residency, and WCAG 2.1 Level AA for its web application and public site. A 24/7 help center and a Success team trained on nonprofit governance round out its support offer.

Pricing

Boardable has no free plan. Its 14-day free trial includes full Professional features, and an organization can start without choosing a plan first. That makes it possible to assess the full workflow before committing, but the trial is short for boards that meet infrequently.

Plan	Price	Included limits and features
Essentials	Starting at $20.99 /user/mo; billed annually at $251.88	1,000 files, 5 meeting guests, 10 groups, 4 survey sends and 400 responses/mo
Professional	Starting at $29.99 /user/mo; billed annually at $359.88	Unlimited file storage, 10 meeting guests, 25 groups; Boardable Video is an optional add-on
Professional+	Starting at $35.99 /user/mo; billed annually at $431.88	Unlimited file storage, meeting guests, groups, and surveys; Boardable Video included

Essentials is the entry point for smaller organizations willing to work within file, guest, group, and survey caps. Professional removes the storage ceiling and raises guest and group limits, but does not include Boardable Video. Professional+ is the clearest fit for organizations that need unrestricted guests, groups, and surveys or want video included. In every plan, admins, board members, committee members, and observers count as paid user seats; meeting guests and survey respondents do not. Seat totals therefore include more than voting members, even though occasional guests and respondents add no seat charge.

Platforms

Boardable supports web, Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android. The mobile apps cover a broad set of board activities, while the web application also has a stated WCAG 2.1 Level AA standard.

Who it's for

Nonprofits that coordinate recurring board or committee meetings, circulate formal materials, record decisions, and track follow-up are the natural audience. Organizations with many observers should account for those users as seats, while groups that need only a free document-sharing or meeting tool may find the full governance package and annual per-user commitment unnecessary.

Pros and cons

Pro: Agendas, packets, meetings, votes, minutes, and follow-up share one workflow, reducing the need to split core governance work across separate tools.
Pro: Integrations cover major file and meeting services, and mobile apps extend access to packets, discussions, polls, tasks, and the directory.
Pro: Meeting guests and survey respondents do not consume paid seats, which helps organizations involve occasional participants without expanding their seat count.
Con: There is no free plan, and annual per-user pricing means the cost scales with every admin, board member, committee member, and observer.
Con: Essentials has finite storage, guest, group, and survey quotas; Professional still caps guests and groups and charges extra for Boardable Video.

Alternatives

For a board-management shortlist, compare Board Management Software, Board Portal Software, Nonprofit Board Management Software, and Meeting Management Software.

Choose BoardiGO if a free plan matters most: its Free tier supports one organization, up to 10 users, 2 GB of storage, core board-governance workflow, and task management. OnBoard is another paid option, with agenda and board-book building, mobile apps, Zoom and calendar integrations, annotations, and a resource library on Essentials. Sherpany offers paid plans with a free trial and options organized around meeting preparation, conduct, follow-up, and task tracking. Consider Govenda as another paid board-management option.

BoardPAC is a paid alternative available across mobile, desktop, web, and self-hosted environments. Nasdaq Boardvantage emphasizes all-inclusive pricing without hidden fees or upcharges and scalability across entities, subsidiaries, committees, and teams. iBabs is another paid option with web, Windows, iOS, and Android support. Convene offers paid plans, including a Lite tier with a meetings module, secure cloud hosting, and permission-based access.

Verdict

Boardable is a strong fit for nonprofits that want one system to prepare board materials, run meetings, record decisions, and manage follow-up, with mobile access for members. Its broad workflow and integrations are the main reasons to choose it; annual per-seat pricing, seat counting for observers, and lower-tier quotas are the main reasons to look elsewhere if the organization is small, price-sensitive, or needs an uncapped guest and survey experience.
