Overview

Bigin by Zoho CRM is a CRM for small businesses that want to organize sales around visual pipelines. It suits solo operators on the free plan and growing small teams that need shared pipelines and automation. Its strongest case is a practical mix of sales tools, mobile apps and clear entry-level pricing; the free plan is deliberately narrow.

Bigin’s maker was founded in 2020. Zoho says its wider platform serves 150 million users and has more than 30 years of experience serving businesses. Bigin says setup takes about 30 minutes.

Key features

Pipeline and workflow management

Visual pipelines give sales work a clear structure, while workflow automation can reduce repetitive steps. The free edition’s one pipeline and three automations suit an individual with a simple process, not a team needing shared views. Paid tiers raise both limits and add team pipelines: Express provides three, Premier five and Bigin 360 fifteen.

Email, messaging and integrations

Email sync and email marketing support customer communication alongside pipeline work. WhatsApp integration lets users send messages, receive replies and track conversation history. Connections to Zoho Books, QuickBooks, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Shopify, Mailchimp and Zapier broaden the ways Bigin can fit into an existing small-business toolset.

AI and administration

Zia-powered features include writing assistance, summaries, suggested replies and churn analysis. Premier includes 1,000 AI credits per month, and Bigin 360 includes 3,000; those allowances make the higher tiers more relevant to teams that expect regular AI use. Paid plans also include user profiles and roles, multiple team pipelines, onboarding, webinars, admin training, data-import help and support.

Privacy and support

Zoho says its infrastructure is certified for ISO 27001, GDPR, SOC 2 and HIPAA. It also says customer data is not sold or used for advertising and can be exported at any time. Support is available by phone, email and live chat 24 hours a day, five days a week.

Pricing

Bigin offers a free plan and paid editions with monthly or annual billing; annual pricing saves up to 35%. The prices below are annual rates, charged per user per year.

Plan	Price and limits	Best for
Free	Free; one user, 500 records, one pipeline and three automations.	A solo user checking whether a single-pipeline workflow is enough.
Express	$84.00 per user per year ($7.00 per user/month, billed annually); three team pipelines, 50,000 records, 30 automations and 10 custom fields per module.	Small teams that need shared pipelines and room to grow beyond the free caps.
Premier	$144.00 per user per year ($12.00 per user/month, billed annually); five team pipelines, 100,000 records, 50 automations, 25 custom fields per module and 1,000 AI credits per month.	Teams needing more automation and custom fields, with a defined AI allowance.
Bigin 360	$216.00 per user per year ($18.00 per user/month, billed annually); 15 team pipelines, 1,000,000 records, 100 automation rules, 5 GB file storage and 3,000 AI credits per month.	Teams with substantially larger record and pipeline needs, or higher automation and AI usage.

The free plan’s one-user ceiling rules it out for shared CRM work, and its 500-record cap can constrain even a solo business as contacts accumulate. Express expands capacity and adds team pipelines, but has no stated monthly AI-credit allowance. Premier and Bigin 360 cost more for larger quotas, with Bigin 360 also specifying file storage. A 15-day free trial requires no credit card, and users can cancel anytime; Bigin also offers free onboarding and a 100% money-back guarantee.

Platforms

Apps are available for iOS, iPadOS, Android and macOS, with mobile apps for iOS and Android. That gives teams a way to work from phones and tablets as well as Mac computers.

Who it's for

Bigin is aimed at small businesses and MSMEs, including businesses with 1 to 20 employees. It is a sensible fit for a small sales operation that wants pipelines, email and messaging in one CRM and can select a tier around its record and automation needs. Businesses that need a free multi-user plan should look elsewhere; so should teams whose requirements exceed the specified pipeline, record or automation allowances.

Pros and cons

Pros

Clear path from solo use to team workflows: Free starts with one pipeline, while paid plans provide up to 15 team pipelines.
Defined paid-tier quotas: Record, automation, custom-field and AI-credit limits make it easier to match the edition to expected usage.
Useful communication coverage: Email sync, email marketing and WhatsApp conversation history keep customer communication tied to sales work.
Low-friction evaluation: The 15-day trial has no credit-card requirement, and cancellation is allowed anytime.

Cons

Free is strictly single-user: Teams must pay to share the CRM, and the free plan also stops at 500 records and one pipeline.
Feature capacity depends on tier: Pipeline, record, automation, custom-field, booking, mass-email and AI-credit limits vary by edition.
Annual prices require a yearly commitment: The headline $7.00 per user/month Express rate is billed annually, even though monthly billing is also offered.

Alternatives

The Agency CRM may suit a small agency prioritizing client and invoice limits: its free plan supports one user, up to five clients and 10 invoices per month, alongside basic CRM and pipeline tools.
Zoho CRM is worth considering if a free CRM for up to three users matters more than Bigin’s one-user free plan.
Freshsales is another freemium option with a free plan for up to three users.
HubSpot CRM offers a free plan for two users with no credit card requirement and no expiration date.
Capsule CRM may fit a smaller contact list: its free plan supports two users, 250 contacts, five custom fields and one sales pipeline.
Magnetic is an alternative to consider.
Salesforce Sales Cloud is another option to compare.
EspoCRM may be worth considering for teams evaluating open-source CRM software.

Verdict

Bigin is a strong fit for small businesses that want visual sales pipelines, integrated customer communication and paid tiers with clearly stepped-up limits. The main reason to choose it is the progression from a constrained solo plan to multi-pipeline team editions, with automation and AI capacity rising by tier. Look elsewhere if you need multiple users without paying: Bigin’s free plan is only for one.
