Overview

EngageBay combines a visual sales pipeline with email marketing, live chat and helpdesk tools. Lead scoring, audience segmentation and workflow automation connect prospect capture with follow-up, while imports from HubSpot, Salesforce and CSV give teams a route to bring existing contacts over. More than 250 business-tool integrations add useful breadth for companies consolidating several workflows in one service.

The free plan is permanent, requires no credit card and supports up to 15 users. That seat allowance is unusually practical for a small team, but the cap of 250 contacts and companies, plus 1,000 branded emails a month, makes it a fit for a limited audience rather than a growing database.

Key features

Sales and CRM: A visual pipeline and lead scoring help organize prospects and prioritize follow-up. Contact imports from HubSpot, Salesforce or CSV reduce the burden of switching, though the free tier's contact cap limits how much of a large database can stay in the service.
Marketing tools: Email automation, segmentation, landing pages, forms, popups and A/B testing cover common campaign and lead-capture needs. The free plan includes two lists, 10 popups, 10 forms and one landing page, with only 1,000 branded emails monthly; that is enough to start small, not to run high-volume campaigns.
Support and AI: Live chat and helpdesk are included in the free plan. AI features include a chatbot that can be trained with a knowledge base, files and links, which can help teams use their own support material in customer conversations.
Integrations and assistance: More than 250 integrations, live chat and email support, guided onboarding, video tutorials and free onboarding support make the platform more approachable for teams moving multiple processes into one system.

Pricing

EngageBay uses a freemium model. Its free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and allows up to 15 users, 250 contacts and companies, 1,000 branded emails monthly, two lists, 10 web popups, 10 forms and one landing page. It is a meaningful starting point for a small team, but the contact and email caps are the first constraints to check against real campaign needs.

Basic — 11.04 USD per month, billed paid yearly: Includes 500 contacts and companies. The lower entry price suits a small contact base, but the annual billing term and 500-contact ceiling leave less room than the free tier's 15-user allowance might suggest. The supplied plan details do not state a seat allowance.
Growth — 42.49 USD per month, billed per user/month: Includes 3,000 contacts and companies. It is a step up for teams whose audience has outgrown Basic, but per-user billing makes team size a direct cost consideration.
Pro — 67.99 USD per month, billed per user/month: Includes 5,000 contacts and companies in the plan details; the Pro contact limit is also stated as up to 10,000, with more requiring contact with the team. Confirm the applicable cap before committing if the database is near that range. Per-user billing means this tier can become costly as seats increase.

The paid-from price is 11.04 USD per user per month, while Basic is described with annual billing; compare the billing basis carefully rather than treating the entry price as the same seat-based monthly rate across tiers.

Platforms

EngageBay is fully cloud-based and works in any browser. The platform is listed for web, and a mobile app is also available, giving teams a mobile option alongside browser access.

Who it's for

EngageBay is a sensible choice for small businesses that want CRM, campaign tools and customer support in one place, especially if they have a modest contact list and can make use of the free plan's 15 seats. It is less compelling for teams with a large audience, high email volume or many paid users: contact limits and per-user pricing can undermine the appeal of consolidation as the operation scales.

Pros and cons

Pro: The permanent free tier includes CRM, email marketing, live chat and helpdesk, with up to 15 users and no credit card requirement, so a team can start without a trial deadline.
Pro: Pipeline, lead scoring, automation, campaign and lead-capture features sit alongside more than 250 integrations, reducing the need to split routine work across separate tools.
Con: Free accounts stop at 250 contacts and companies and 1,000 branded emails a month, limiting use for larger lists or frequent campaigns.
Con: Growth and Pro are billed per user per month, so adding seats raises the cost; Pro's contact cap should be checked if a business is approaching 10,000 contacts.

Alternatives

For a broader set of options by use case, compare CRM Software, Marketing Automation Software, Email Marketing Software and Lead Nurturing Software.

Manago AI (formerly SALESmanago) is a paid platform with a free trial and Android, iOS, API and web support; choose it if those platform options and a trial matter more than EngageBay's free plan.
Mautic offers a free plan and trial, including a 14-day trial without a credit card, and supports API, self-hosted and web use; it is worth considering if self-hosting is important.
Brevo Conversations has a free forever plan for one user and web, iOS and Android support; choose it if a one-user free plan and mobile-platform coverage better match your needs.
Klaviyo offers a free plan with up to 250 active profiles and 500 email sends monthly; its published free email allowance is lower than EngageBay's 1,000 branded emails.
GetResponse offers a free plan and trial, with a Starter plan that includes unlimited monthly email sends and one custom automation workflow; it may suit readers prioritizing those campaign terms.
ActiveCampaign is paid and offers a free trial, making it an option for readers willing to start with a trial rather than a permanent free plan.
Aritic PinPoint has a free plan and trial; its Lite plan is 59.00 USD per month and includes 350+ direct integrations, so it may fit readers who prioritize that integration count.
Bloomreach Content is a paid alternative with web, Android, iOS, API and self-hosted platforms.

Verdict

Choose EngageBay if you are a small team looking to bring CRM, marketing and customer support together, and the permanent free tier's 15 seats and basic campaign allowance cover your needs. Its range of connected tools and broad integrations are the strongest reasons to choose it. Look elsewhere if your contact base or email volume is already large, or if per-user paid pricing would make a growing team expensive to support.
