Overview

AskSia is an AI homework solver for problems in math, science, engineering, business, and computer science. It provides step-by-step explanations, with several ways to enter a question: type it, paste it, photograph it, or speak it. LaTeX input is also supported, which is useful for entering mathematical notation.

The service is aimed at high school students and students in their first two years of university. Its role is broader than returning a solution: after solving a problem, students can ask for another method, practice problems, or flashcards. AskSia also says it offers more than 184 topic-specific solvers, giving students a way to work with subject-focused tools.

AskSia is freemium, with a free plan that includes daily problem solves, step-by-step solutions, and photo input. The stated plan price is 0.00 USD per free. The available details do not specify the daily solve allowance, so students should check the service for the applicable limit before relying on it for regular study.

Key features

Flexible problem input and explanations

Students can submit a problem as text, a photo, or spoken input, and the solver supports LaTeX. AskSia then presents a step-by-step solution rather than only a final answer. Document uploads are also supported, and the listed study tools include hints or guided mode.

Practice beyond the first answer

Once a problem has been solved, students can request an alternate solution method, generate practice problems, or create flashcards. These options make AskSia useful for revisiting a concept or checking whether a method makes sense, rather than treating each answer as a stopping point.

Browser extension and course materials

The Chrome extension lists support for Canvas, Blackboard, Brightspace, Moodle, Everytime, CyberCampus, Echo360, and Panopto. It is read-only and does not write to the learning management system or share the user's LMS password with AskSia. The extension's stated security details say synced course materials are encrypted with TLS 1.3 in transit and AES-256 at rest, are not used to train AI, and can be deleted.

Exports

The web app lists export options to PDF, DOCX, Notion, and Google Docs. These can help students keep or organize their work outside AskSia.

Pricing

AskSia lists a free plan at 0.00 USD per free. It includes daily problem solves, step-by-step solutions, and photo input. The pricing information provided here does not state a solve quota or describe paid-plan pricing, so prospective users should confirm current limits and options on AskSia before choosing it as a primary study tool.

Platforms

AskSia is listed for web, iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows, and as a Chrome extension. Its platform coverage spans mobile, desktop, and browser use. The extension is the option with the stated LMS integrations; the web app lists the document export formats.

Who it's for

AskSia is designed for high school students and students in their first two years of university who want help understanding homework across several subject areas. Its multiple input methods may suit students working from written or photographed questions, while alternate methods, practice problems, and flashcards support follow-up study.

It is not presented as a tool for completing tests. AskSia's service agreement prohibits using the platform to cheat or plagiarize and recommends that users avoid it during tests or exams. The company also states that it is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any university.

Alternatives

Students comparing homework tools can also consider QuestionAI, Mathway, Solvely, and ShowYourWork. For a more math-focused comparison, Symbolab, Cymath, Homework Rabbit, and Photomath are other options. Verdict

AskSia combines a broad subject range with step-by-step solutions, flexible question input, and study tools for continuing beyond an initial answer. Its free plan and wide platform availability make it accessible to students who want to explore an AI solver, while the extension's read-only approach and stated data protections may matter to students using course materials. The main practical unknown in the listed plan details is the free daily solve limit. AskSia is best treated as a learning aid, not a way to produce work for tests or submit answers without understanding them.

For support, AskSia lists contact@asksia.ai, says its inbox is checked daily, and aims to respond within 48 hours.
