What Recast is

Recast uses Claude AI to turn PDFs, article links, text, and topics into content for different platforms. It offers nine formats, including social posts, video scripts, newsletters, blog outlines, takeaways, and hooks. Study Mode can make study guides, slide decks, flashcards, quizzes, and citations from course material. Users can set tone and reading level; the Free Beta also includes Brand Voice and translation into 10 languages. It runs on the web and is responsive on mobile and tablet, though optimized for desktop. The Free Beta costs $0/month and allows 10 generations per day across five input types, but requires an Anthropic API key. Users pay Anthropic directly for usage, typically $0.05–$0.30 per generation depending on length. Recast says keys and generation history stay in browser storage, and inputs go from the browser directly to Anthropic. For URL input, page content is fetched through the public CORS proxy allorigins.win. Flashcards can be exported to Anki and Quizlet. The planned Pro tier is $15/month and lists unlimited generations, no API key, bulk upload of up to 10 files, priority generation, and direct founder support.
