Overview

MyStudyLife is an academic planner for students who need to coordinate changing class schedules with assignments and exam revision. It suits learners who want those plans together across web, iOS and Android; parents can also follow a student’s upcoming work through Family Connect. Its main trade-off is the free plan’s five-task limit.

Made by a company founded in 2011 and based in Cavendish Square, London, MyStudyLife also offers a separate solution for schools. For other options, see Study Planner Apps and Daily Planner Apps.

Key features

Timetables and tasks

Rotating, block, A/B and custom timetables, with term dates and holidays, make the planner more suitable for academic schedules that change across days or terms than a basic weekly calendar. Homework tasks come in seven types and support due dates, reminders, partial completion and automatic repetition. That gives students room to track work in stages and manage recurring study, but five simultaneous homework and revision tasks on Free is a tight ceiling for anyone handling several classes.

Exam planning and Scout

Exam countdowns put deadlines in view, while grade recording keeps results alongside the schedule. Scout, the AI coach, can answer questions about a student’s schedule and build weekly or exam revision plans from classes and deadlines. Unlimited Scout use comes with MSL+; Free includes only a first AI timetable scan, so students who want ongoing AI planning need the paid plan.

Calendar, focus and access

Calendar connections include Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook, iCal feeds, Blackboard and Canvas. Combined with cloud storage and offline use, this helps students consult their planner across devices and alongside connected calendars. However, a device’s data must sync before that device is lost for it to be retrieved elsewhere. A Pomodoro timer supports timed focus sessions, and Family Connect lets parents or guardians view upcoming work and exams and help add classes or tasks.

Privacy

MyStudyLife says it does not sell user information or show ads, and that users can export or delete their data at any time. It describes its service as GDPR and FERPA aligned.

Pricing

MyStudyLife uses a freemium model with two plans:

Free: 0.00 USD per free. It includes the full planner, web, iPhone and Android access, up to five homework and revision tasks at a time, and a first AI timetable scan. It is a sensible starting point for students with a small active workload, but the task cap and limited Scout access may become restrictive.
MSL+: 6.99 USD per month, billed $6.99/month. It removes the task cap and adds subtasks, repeating tasks, unlimited Scout AI, calendar sync, activities, and additional task and exam types. This is the more suitable plan for students who need to keep many assignments active or want continuing AI and calendar support.

A 7-day trial is available. Choose MSL+ if the free task limit would interfere with day-to-day planning; otherwise, Free covers the core planner without a subscription.

Platforms

MyStudyLife is available on web, iOS and Android. Its cross-device cloud sync is useful for students who switch between a phone and browser, with the caveat that offline changes need to sync before a device is lost.

Who it's for

MyStudyLife is best suited to students balancing nonstandard timetables, homework and exam revision in one place. Family Connect makes it relevant to parents or guardians who want visibility and a way to help add schoolwork. Students who keep only a few active tasks may be comfortable on Free; those with busier workloads should account for MSL+.

Pros and cons

Pros: Flexible timetable formats, academic dates, task reminders and partial completion support varied school routines.
Pros: Exam countdowns, grade recording, a focus timer and Scout combine planning with study support.
Pros: Family Connect gives parents or guardians a way to view and help manage upcoming work.
Cons: Free allows only five homework and revision tasks at a time, which can be limiting once assignments and study plans accumulate.
Cons: Unlimited Scout and calendar sync are MSL+ features, so the free tier does not offer the full set of planning connections.
Cons: Data on an offline device must sync before that device is lost to be retrieved on another device.

Helium is an option for readers who specifically want open-source software with publicly available code.

Planner Pig offers pre-paid plans for one, three or six months.
Altitask is a web and browser-extension option with a free allowance of three Altitasks, 25 tasks, five projects, five notes and five forms.

Verdict

Choose MyStudyLife if you want a student-focused planner that brings flexible timetables, assignments and exam preparation together, especially if Family Connect would help a parent stay involved. The five-task Free limit is the main reason to look elsewhere or move to MSL+; students seeking a fully open-ended free workload should compare alternatives before committing.
