TurboPLM
TurboPLM is product lifecycle management software for teams that build physical products.
What TurboPLM is
TurboPLM is product lifecycle management software for teams that build physical products. It covers part masters, multi-level bills of materials, revisions, manufacturing processes and engineering change control. Parts move through In Work, In Review, Released and Obsolete states; released revisions cannot be changed, with that rule enforced server-side. Change requests and notices can track affected revisions, date or serial-number effectivity, stock dispositions and printable notices. The system records serial and lot genealogy, as-built versus as-designed reports, service repairs and as-maintained structures. Teams can require electronic signatures and set separate read and write access for parts, documents, changes, projects and build units. A browser viewer supports STEP, IGES, BREP, STL, glTF, OBJ and 3MF files. TurboPLM is open source under GNU AGPL v3 and can be started with Docker Compose; self-hosted deployments use PostgreSQL. The hosted free plan allows one member and up to 100 parts. Pro costs $10 a month, billed monthly by card, with unlimited members and parts.
Good
- Free plan includes every module
- Released revisions are immutable
- Tracks serial and lot genealogy
- Supports multiple CAD file formats
- Pro includes unlimited members and parts
Watch out
- Free hosted plan is limited to one member
- Free hosted plan caps parts at 100
- Pro costs $10 a month
- Community support uses GitHub issues
Who it suits
TurboPLM suits hardware teams that need product structures, BOMs, revision control and engineering change processes. Its self-hosted option is for teams prepared to run the software on their own hardware.
Verdict
TurboPLM brings revision control, BOM management and traceability into one product lifecycle workflow. Teams should weigh the free hosted limits against the Pro plan or self-hosting.
