What TESSA OER is
TESSA OER is an education research and development project, founded in 2005, that works with partners to support primary and secondary teachers across sub-Saharan Africa. Its open educational resources are aligned with national curricula and available in multiple language and country versions. The collection has 90 subject-based modules: 75 structured units for primary education and 15 for secondary education. Materials include practical activities, case studies, classroom resources, and guidance on teaching strategies for engaging learners. Handbooks and toolkits help teachers and teacher educators use the subject resources. The materials support professional learning from initial teacher education through ongoing development, and teachers and teacher educators can share adaptations in a dedicated space. The modular resources are published under an open Creative Commons licence and are free to use and adapt. They are available online and offline in digital and printed formats, for independent use or integration into pre-service and in-service training programmes.
