What TalkType is
TalkType is dictation software for people who find it difficult to get ideas onto the page, including neurodivergent thinkers. It transcribes speech in real time without voice training or setup and can enter text into apps with text fields, including Word, Google Docs, Outlook, Teams and Slack. A browser version supports dictation and copying text elsewhere; Windows and Mac downloads and iPhone and Android apps are also available. TalkType includes a document editor and library, automatic punctuation, voice commands and custom vocabulary. Its AI tools can proofread, restructure writing, change its tone and follow custom prompts. Accessibility options include light and dark modes, adjustable font sizes and OpenDyslexic typeface support. The cloud service stores customer data in the UK, encrypts it at rest and in transit, and says it deletes speech audio after transcription and does not use customer data to train AI models. Plans are paid, with a 14-day trial and monthly, annual and multi-year options. Unlimited dictation is subject to fair usage.
