What SongSmith.io is
SongSmith.io is a browser-based songwriter’s notepad for writing lyrics and chords together, collaborating, and recording demos. Chord suggestions can be placed above lyrics and adjusted to align with syllables; other music tools include chord shapes, transposition, progressions, a tuner, metronome and autoscroll. A word tool looks up rhymes, synonyms, related words and near-sounding words for lyric writing. Co-writers can edit a shared song after an email invitation, and the service includes comments, direct messages and one-to-one browser video calls. Its maker says call audio and video travel directly between browsers rather than through its servers. Songs can be formatted as chord-over-lyric sheets for printing or rehearsal. The free plan supports up to five songs and includes writing, collaboration and reference tools. Pro adds unlimited songs, demo recording and version history; its recordings can run up to three minutes, and version history stores up to 50 checkpoints per song.
