What GFI MailEssentials is
GFI MailEssentials is an anti-spam and email security solution for on-premise mail servers. Its SpamRazer engine evaluates reputation, message fingerprints, and content, while Anti-Phishing checks known phishing links and common phishing terms. Multiple antivirus engines scan inbound, outbound, and internal email; Avira and Bitdefender are included, with Kaspersky, Sophos, and Cyren available separately. Content rules can inspect keywords, attachment types, compressed files, headers, and message content, including regular expressions. Additional tools handle newsletters, discussion lists, outbound disclaimers, mail monitoring, and automated replies. The list server integrates with Microsoft Exchange and can use Microsoft Access or Microsoft SQL Server for subscriber data. MailEssentials runs on Microsoft Exchange or as a gateway before SMTP-compliant servers, including Office 365. It requires 64-bit Windows Server versions listed by GFI, and supports VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization.
