Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Smart Fire TV in India as planned. This happens to be the first Redmi-branded smart TV powered by Amazon FireOS to go on sale in the country. This TV model is currently only available in a single 32-inch variant. It is worth noting that Xiaomi already offers FireOS TVs in Europe, but those models are Xiaomi-branded rather than Redmi, as is the case with this new TV.
Coming to specs, the Redmi Smart Fire TV features a 32-inch LED-backlit LCD panel with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, which is considered HD Ready, and a 60Hz refresh rate. The display offers a response time of up to 6.5ms and a viewing angle of 178-degree. Like all Xiaomi televisions, it comes equipped with the company’s proprietary picture profile called ‘Vivid Picture Engine.’ The screen is also paired with 20W (2 x 10W) speakers and offers support for Dolby Audio, DTS-HD, and DTS Virtual: X. While the TV has a metal frame, other parts of the body, including the stands, are made of plastic.
The Redmi Smart Fire TV runs on Amazon Fire OS 7 and supports all major streaming platforms, free live TV channels, as well as Alexa, Miracast, and Apple AirPlay. It also comes with a new voice-enabled remote control that is distinct from the one included with the company’s Android TV-powered televisions. This updated remote control features playback control keys, mute, guide, apps, and Alexa, making it a convenient tool for users.
The Redmi Smart Fire TV is equipped with an unnamed chipset featuring a quad-core CPU (4 x ARM Cortex-A35) and an ARM Mali G31 MP2 GPU, along with 1 GB RAM and 8 GB storage. As for connectivity, the TV provides dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and Ethernet. It also includes necessary ports, including 1 x AV, 2 x HDMI (one of which is ARC compatible), a 3.5mm headphone jack, an antenna, and 2 x USB ports.
The Redmi Smart Fire TV 32 is available in India for Rs. 13,999. For a limited time, it will be offered at a discounted price of Rs. 12,999. Customers can also use bank discounts or coupons to bring the price down even further to Rs. 11,999.
The television will be available for purchase on Mi.com and Amazon India starting from March 21 at 12 PM.
Also, a unique aspect of the Redmi Smart Fire TV is that the television is packaged in an environmentally friendly box that can be reused to make DIY furniture.
