Xiaomi has now introduced the Redmi A2 and Redmi A2+ smartphones to the Indian market, following their global launch a few months ago. These devices serve as successors to the budget-friendly Redmi A1 and Redmi A1+ models. Both the Redmi A2 and Redmi A2+ come with a 6.52-inch IPS LCD display having 1600 x 720 pixels HD+ resolution. The screen features a small waterdrop notch that houses the front-facing camera, while the slim bezels enhance the overall aesthetics. The display operates at a 60Hz refresh rate, ensuring smooth visuals.
Dual SIM support and a dedicated microSD card slot are notable features of both devices. They are powered by the MediaTek Helio G36 SoC, delivering reliable performance. The phones offer up to 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage, providing ample space for apps, media, and files. On the rear, the phones house a dual-camera setup consisting of an 8 MP primary camera and a QVGA lens. For capturing selfies, the A2 series is equipped with a 5 MP front shooter.
A robust 5000mAh battery powers the devices, ensuring extended battery life. The battery is backed by a not so impressive 10W charging support. Connectivity options with the phones include a micro-USB port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The phones offer up to 3 GB of virtual RAM support, that promises a smooth user experience. Moreover, users can enjoy a stock Android 13 experience along with access to an FM radio app.
The phones exhibit a stylish appeal with a faux leather finish on the back. They are offered in Sea Green, Aqua Blue, and Classic Black color options. Notably, the devices come with scratch-resistant displays and splash-resistant bodies, providing an added layer of durability.
In terms of pricing and availability, the Redmi A2 is available in multiple configurations. The 2 GB RAM and 32 GB storage variant is priced at Rs. 6,299 while the 2 GB RAM and 64 GB storage variant is priced at Rs. 6,799. The model with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage is priced at Rs. 7,999. On the other hand, the Redmi A2+ is offered in a single configuration with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage which is priced at Rs. 8,499. These devices will be available for purchase starting from May 23rd through platforms such as Amazon.in, Mi.com, Mi home stores, and various offline stores. It’s important to note that the Redmi A2 2 GB RAM and 64 GB storage variant will be made available at a later date.
As part of the launch offers, customers purchasing the Redmi A2 and A2+ can avail of an instant discount when using ICICI, HDFC, and Axis Bank Credit Cards, or by opting for Credit Card EMI. The Redmi A2 2 GB + 32 GB variant offers a flat Rs. 300 instant discounts, while the 4 GB + 64 GB variant provides a discount of Rs. 500. Additionally, customers can benefit from a limited-period offer of a free 1-year extended warranty, adding further value to their purchase.
