Overview

Unspam brings message scoring, seed-mailbox placement checks, rendering previews, and ongoing monitoring into one service. Spam tests show which authentication, reputation, blacklist, or content checks affected a score, making the results more actionable than a score alone. Placement tests report where a campaign lands across Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, and other providers.

That combination is valuable for teams diagnosing several kinds of deliverability problems in one workflow. The trade-off is that the Free plan excludes DMARC monitoring and full API access, so teams needing continuous oversight or integration will need the Custom plan.

Key features

Diagnostics and previews

Rendering previews cover more than 50 real email clients and devices, in both light and dark modes. This is a strong fit for teams that need to check appearance alongside deliverability; the Free plan, however, provides only three device previews each month.

Monitoring and integrations

Scheduled tests track placement and spam scores, with email alerts when results decline. Unspam also supports sender reputation, authentication, and blocklist monitoring. Its API can test messages sent through SES, Postmark, SendGrid, Mailgun, or a sender’s own SMTP setup. The API spans 39 endpoints across seven areas, and compatible AI clients can use the MCP server to run tests and retrieve results.

Submitted test emails, including headers and message content, are collected and stored to provide the service. For AI-generated reports, Unspam sends test content and results to OpenAI; content may be retained for up to 30 days and is not used to train or improve models. The privacy policy says stored data is kept on services and providers certified to ISO/IEC 27001:2013, PCI DSS, SOC 1 Type II, and SOC 2 Type II or higher. Teams handling sensitive email should weigh those data flows before enabling AI reports.

Pricing

Unspam’s pricing ranges from a small no-account allowance to a pay-per-test plan. The free options are useful for occasional checks, but their limits matter if deliverability work is routine.

No account — 0.00 USD per free: Includes three spam tests, two inbox placements, and one device preview per month, with 24-hour data retention. It suits a quick, occasional check, but the small quotas and short retention make it unsuitable for tracking campaigns over time.
Free — price not listed: Includes 21 tests per month, comprising five spam tests, three inbox placements, and three device previews; unlimited sender accounts; 14-day data retention; and an AI assistant. It gives teams more room to evaluate workflows, but excludes DMARC monitoring and full API access.
Custom plan — 5.00 USD per month: Billed at a $5 monthly minimum, then pay per test, with rates that drop as volume grows. Customers choose test volumes and get three-year data retention, unlimited sender accounts, AI assistant, API and MCP access, and DMARC monitoring. This is the fit for teams that need automation or longer-term monitoring; the monthly minimum and usage-based charges make costs depend on test volume.

Platforms

Unspam is available on the web and through an API. The MCP server extends test-running and result retrieval to compatible AI clients.

Who it's for

Marketers, founders, agencies, and product teams can use Unspam to investigate spam scoring, inbox placement, and rendering in one service. It is especially suitable when teams need scheduled tracking or want to connect tests to their sending setup. Occasional users may find the no-account plan sufficient; teams that need comprehensive API access, DMARC monitoring, or retained history should consider the Custom plan.

Pros and cons

Pro: Combines spam scoring, placement checks, and rendering previews, helping teams investigate multiple deliverability concerns in one service.
Pro: Scheduled tests and decline alerts support ongoing oversight rather than one-off diagnosis.
Pro: API and MCP access, plus support for several sending services and custom SMTP, give automated workflows multiple integration paths.
Con: The no-account plan allows just three spam tests, two placements, and one preview monthly, limiting repeated checks.
Con: Free excludes DMARC monitoring and full API access, key capabilities for teams moving from evaluation to continuous monitoring.
Con: Test emails and their contents are stored, and AI reports involve sending content and results to OpenAI, a consideration for sensitive campaigns.

Alternatives

These alternatives serve different testing and monitoring needs; the right choice depends on whether deliverability diagnostics, previews, sandboxing, or broader email testing is the priority.

GlockApps offers a free plan, a free trial, web and API access, and DMARC-oriented allowances; choose it if those DMARC limits better fit your evaluation.
MailSlurp combines a free plan with inbox creation, sandbox sending, device rendering, and inbox placement; choose it when those testing capabilities are the priority.
Litmus is a paid web, API, and extension option with a free trial; consider it if you prefer a paid service with a trial.
Twilio Email Testing offers web access, a 60-day free trial plan, and paid testing credits; consider it if that trial structure suits your needs.
Mailosaur is a paid API and web service with a free trial; consider it if that pricing model and platform combination fit.
Mailpit is free and supports self-hosting across several platforms; choose it if a self-hosted option is more suitable.
Mailtrap Email Sandbox offers a freemium API and web service; consider it for sandbox email testing.

Verdict

Unspam.email is a strong choice for teams that want spam diagnostics, inbox placement, rendering previews, and monitoring together, especially when API or MCP access can support their workflow. Its central drawback is the gap between the limited Free plan and the Custom plan’s monthly minimum plus usage-based charges. Choose it for connected deliverability work; look elsewhere if a small free allowance is not enough and test-volume pricing is a poor fit.
