Overview

RouteNote distributes music to more than 50 digital platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Facebook, SoundCloud and Deezer. Artists and labels choose the stores, pricing tiers and countries for each release. RouteNote reviews uploads before delivery, so control over destinations does not remove the approval step.

After approval, RouteNote says delivery to selected stores takes place within 24 hours, excluding weekends. Store publication is separate: most stores make releases live within 14 days, while some may take up to 28 days. Existing releases can also be sent to new partner stores without an additional charge; users can opt out by contacting support.

Key features

Distribution and release control

Choosing stores and territories is useful for artists who want to target particular markets rather than distribute everywhere by default. The broad partner network provides reach, though the approval process and store publication timelines mean a release is not immediately live just because delivery has begun.

Revenue and services

Artists and labels with RouteNote accounts can split revenue on a release, which helps collaborators share proceeds through the service. Free-plan splits are calculated after RouteNote’s 15% share. RouteNote also offers publishing administration and monthly payouts.

YouTube and mobile access

RouteNote says releases can be submitted to its YouTube Content ID system so audio used in videos can be monetized. Its mobile app lets users check earnings and statistics, browse their discography and contact support; the iOS app also supports release uploads. That makes the app more useful for account management than for a complete mobile workflow across both platforms.

Premium tools and account security

Premium includes fast-track moderation, no lock-in, 90 days of Trends data and fan location insights. These are useful extras for creators who value quicker moderation or want a limited window of audience data, but they do not remove annual per-release renewals. RouteNote says sensitive account changes are verified with one-time passcodes sent to the linked email address.

Pricing

The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and has no upfront distribution fee; artists keep 85% of net revenue. RouteNote says Free includes unlimited artists, unlimited uploads and full access to its services. It is the sensible starting point for artists who want to avoid release fees and accept the 15% revenue share.

Premium charges once per release, keeps 100% of streaming and download revenue, and adds a $9.99 annual renewal fee per release starting the following year. The initial prices are 10.00 USD per once for a Single (1 track), 20.00 USD per once for an EP (2–6 tracks), 30.00 USD per once for an Album (7–18 tracks), and 45.00 USD per once for an Extended Album (19+ tracks). Premium is a better fit when retaining the full streaming and download share is worth paying upfront and renewing each release. The renewal matters most to artists with a growing catalogue, since the fee applies to every release each year.

All Access is a custom pricing option. The pricing page also describes Premium benefits including fast-track moderation, no lock-in, 90 days of Trends data and fan location insights. RouteNote says it offers 24/7 email and ticket support.

Platforms

RouteNote is available on Android, iOS and the web. The mobile app supports earnings, statistics, discography browsing and support contact, with release uploading available on iOS.

Who it's for

RouteNote serves artists and labels of all sizes. Free is most appropriate for new or budget-conscious artists who want unlimited uploads without an upfront distribution fee. Premium suits artists who prefer to keep all streaming and download revenue and can justify both the initial release charge and recurring annual renewal. Those who need predictable costs across a large catalogue should weigh the per-release renewal burden carefully.

Pros and cons

Pros: Free has no upfront distribution fee and supports unlimited artists and uploads, making it practical to release broadly before committing to per-release charges.
Pros: Store, pricing-tier and territory controls let artists tailor where releases are offered.
Pros: Premium retains all streaming and download revenue and includes fast-track moderation, Trends data and fan location insights.
Cons: Free gives RouteNote 15% of net revenue, reducing the artist’s share on every release.
Cons: Premium renews at $9.99 per release each year from the following year, so maintaining a large catalogue can create recurring costs.
Cons: Store publication can take up to 28 days even after RouteNote delivers an approved release.

Alternatives

Music Distribution Platforms is the broader category to compare if you want to weigh RouteNote against other distributors. For music intended as library material rather than artist releases, see Stock Music Libraries.

UnitedMasters is worth considering if royalty splits and a stated $20 minimum before cashing out matter; its free DEBUT tier is available, while DEBUT+ costs 19.99 USD per year and includes unlimited releases.

FreshTunes offers a free New artist plan with one artist, standard review time and support up to 10 days; its YouTube Content ID, songwriter royalties and UGC platforms commission is 20%.

ONErpm is another free option, with no registration, annual or upload fees on its Emerging plan; it earns a percentage of revenue from plays, views and downloads.

Indiefy, NotaDist and 7Days Digital are other freemium distributors to compare.

Amuse is a paid alternative with an Artist plan at 23.99 USD per year for one artist, unlimited releases, ASAP release in 24 hours and daily streaming insights. Ditto Music is also paid, with a Starter plan at 19.00 USD per year for unlimited releases for one artist across 150+ platforms, and a Pro plan at 59.00 USD per year for two artists.

Verdict

RouteNote is a strong fit for independent artists and labels who want wide store reach, destination controls and a no-upfront-fee option. Choose Free to avoid release charges, or Premium when keeping all streaming and download revenue justifies the initial fee and annual renewal. Look elsewhere if recurring per-release costs or the wait for store publication do not suit your release plans.
