Overview

Riverside is a remote podcast and video interview studio for creators and teams that want recording, editing, and publishing tools in one service. Its strongest fit is a production workflow built around separate participant tracks; the main trade-off is that downloading those tracks is capped on most paid plans.

Key features

Recording and post-production

Riverside records video and supports local recording, separate participant tracks, and automatic transcription. Free recordings are limited to 720p video and 44.1 kHz audio, while Pro raises that to 4K and 48 kHz and adds in-person multi-camera recording. The higher-quality option is useful for polished interview production, but it sits behind an annual-billed plan.

Pro also bundles unlimited text-based editing, an AI editing and repurposing agent, Magic Clips, show notes, and audio enhancement. Those tools make Pro the most complete creator plan when recording and post-production belong in the same workflow. Its 15-hour monthly separate-track download allowance can still constrain frequent editors, even though recording itself is unlimited.

Publishing and webinars

Pro includes podcast hosting and analytics, plus publishing to YouTube, Spotify, Apple, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other destinations. Integrations and workflows include Spotify, Transistor, Castos, HubSpot, Salesforce, webinar webhooks, Adobe Premiere Pro, and Final Cut Pro. This breadth favors creators distributing to several channels, though Grow is the plan that explicitly includes unlimited multistream destinations.

The Webinar plan adds capacity for up to 100 registrants, branded registration forms, Q&A, live call-ins, polls, analytics, and HubSpot lead syncing. That is a focused package for interactive online events rather than a general upgrade for podcasters; Business raises webinar capacity to 10,000 registrants.

Pricing

Riverside has a free plan, a 14-day trial, and paid options. The stated entry price is $24/mo (annual); the plan prices below clarify what each tier costs and includes.

Free: 0.00 USD per free. It provides two hours of multi-track recordings, up to 720p video, 44.1 kHz audio, and unlimited single-track recording and editing, with a Riverside watermark. This is a sensible way to try the workflow, but the multi-track allowance and watermark limit its suitability for regular client-facing work.
Standard: 19.00 USD per month, billed monthly, with five hours of multi-track recording per month and 4K video. Its monthly billing avoids an annual commitment, but the stated package does not include the Pro editing and publishing bundle.
Pro: 24.00 USD per month, billed $288 annually. It includes up to 4K video, 48 kHz audio, one studio, and 15 hours of separate-track downloads. The annual term is the key trade-off for creators who need its full production tools.
Grow: 34.00 USD per month, billed $408 annually. It includes 1080p live streaming, unlimited multistream destinations, two studios, and 20 hours of separate-track downloads. Choose it for streaming and added studio capacity, not for the highest video resolution.
Webinar: 79.00 USD per month, billed $948 annually. It includes up to 100 webinar registrants, three studios, 25 hours of separate-track downloads, and HubSpot integration, making it a better fit for structured audience events than routine podcast production.
Business: custom pricing, with unlimited studios, unlimited separate-track downloads, and up to 10,000 webinar registrants. Its scale suits organizations whose studio, download, or webinar needs exceed the fixed tiers.

On Pro, Grow, and Webinar, recording time is unlimited, but separate-track downloads are capped monthly at 15, 20, and 25 hours respectively. Buyers should size the plan around the files they need to export, not just recording duration.

Platforms

Riverside is offered for Android, iOS, macOS, web, and Windows, with an API also listed. Recording runs in browsers and desktop software. On computers, supported browsers are Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Safari 18.2 or newer; some studio features are unavailable in Safari. Linux computers are unsupported for recording, so Linux-based producers should look elsewhere.

Who it's for

Riverside suits podcasters, interview creators, and production teams who want participant tracks and a path from recording through editing and distribution. Pro is the clearest fit for regular productions that need its editing toolkit and podcast publishing; Grow is more relevant when live streaming and multiple studios matter. Webinar fits teams running interactive events, while the free plan is best treated as a limited starting point.

Riverside says it is SOC 2 compliant and its security is ISO/IEC 27001 certified, initially approved in May 2022. Business adds a dedicated customer success manager and 24/7 live priority chat support, a meaningful distinction for organizations that need a higher-support arrangement.

Pros and cons

Pro covers substantial production work: high-resolution recording, multi-camera sessions, editing aids, audio enhancement, hosting, and analytics sit in one plan.
Unlimited recording on key paid tiers: Pro, Grow, and Webinar remove recording-duration limits, useful for long interviews and events.
Downloads remain quota-bound: even unlimited recordings do not mean unlimited separate-track exports, which may interrupt post-production on Pro, Grow, or Webinar.
Entry-level choices involve compromises: Free has a watermark and only two hours of multi-track recording; Standard is monthly but has a five-hour monthly multi-track cap.
Platform coverage has a real gap: Linux is unsupported for recording, and Safari users do not get every studio feature.

Alternatives

For a recording-focused comparison, browse Podcast Recording Software. Editors prioritizing sound work can compare Audio Editing Software, while live-stream-first buyers can explore Live Streaming Software. Live TV streaming services is a separate category for viewers seeking TV services.

Iris.fm is worth considering for a lower-cost remote recording setup: it has a free plan with browser-based guests and a $9.00 USD per month Starter plan with two hours of recording.
Async is a better match for someone exploring AI media chat rather than a full Riverside-style studio: its free tier gives 10 lifetime AI credits, one hour of media upload to AI chat, up to 720p export, and 2 GB storage.
Cleanfeed is an alternative for those who want a freemium recording service with Linux among its listed platforms.
Zencastr may suit creators who value generous free recording and download allowances: its free plan supports six participants, unlimited recording and downloads, up to 4K video, unlimited track storage, and five podcast shows.
Adobe Podcast is a web-based freemium alternative centered on audio tools; its free plan includes speech enhancement with per-file, daily, and project limits.
Boomcaster is another freemium option, with a $20.00 USD per month Starter plan that includes five hours of studio-quality recording and livestreaming.
Spreaker is better suited to podcast hosting and episode publishing: its free plan allows one podcast, unlimited episodes, and six months of statistics.
Airtape Studio is another freemium option for podcast recording.

Verdict

Choose Riverside if you want remote recording, participant tracks, and a capable editing and publishing workflow in one service, especially when Pro’s tools justify an annual commitment. Look elsewhere if Linux recording is essential or your team regularly needs more separate-track downloads than the fixed plans allow.
