Overview

Workzoom connects its talent modules through shared employee data, which can reduce the need to maintain separate employee records across functions. The connection does not make every workflow automatic: administrators must, for example, reference a review in a compensation request or record succession readiness themselves. Organizations seeking a system that moves those decisions forward without manual steps should weigh that limitation carefully.

Workzoom was founded in 2000 and is headquartered in Toronto, Ontario. It targets organizations with 50 to 5,000 employees, a range for which combining talent tools with HR and payroll records may be useful.

Key features

Performance and learning

Performance tools cover cascading goals, 360-degree reviews, competency frameworks and 9-Box or 12-Box evaluations. That gives organizations several ways to structure feedback and assess performance and potential. Learning supports SCORM, Articulate Rise, video and PDF courses, along with automatic course assignment, certification-expiry notifications and progress reports. The combination suits organizations that need to manage both reviews and tracked learning in the same system.

Career and succession

Administrators can map career paths, record development plans and compare an employee’s recorded skills and certifications with a target job profile. Succession tools let them link plans to positions, assign potential successors, set readiness levels and report on coverage. These functions make Workzoom relevant to organizations formalizing career development and succession processes, but they are only as current as the records administrators maintain: career planning is not employee self-service, and readiness is not pulled in automatically.

Connections, security and support

Workzoom supports SAML 2.0 single sign-on with Azure AD, Okta and OneLogin, GL exports to major accounting platforms, and supported imports and connectors for benefits carriers, background-check providers and accounting systems. Its security measures include AES-256 encryption at rest, TLS 1.2 in transit, isolated client database schemas, and Canadian or US AWS data residency selected at onboarding. The AWS data centers have SOC 1/2/3 and ISO 27001 certifications; reports are available under NDA. Support is included with each subscription, with cases submitted in the platform or through an implementation specialist.

Pricing

Workzoom has no free plan or free trial, so organizations must commit to a paid subscription to use it. The Talent plan costs 4.00 USD per month, billed monthly. It includes performance reviews and 360-degree feedback, learning courses and certification tracking, career planning and development plans, and succession plans and readiness levels.

The Talent Suite plan is 4.00 USD per employee / month, billed monthly by default; annual prepay saves 5%. Canadian customers are billed in CAD at the same numeric rate. It includes Performance, Learning, Career Planning and Succession, and monthly minimums may apply. Per-employee pricing makes the headcount-based cost relevant to budgeting, while minimums can affect smaller teams. The plan descriptions name the same four core areas, so the stated distinction is the Talent Suite’s employee-based billing terms and possible minimums.

Platforms

Workzoom offers iOS and Android apps and a responsive browser experience, alongside API access. Mobile apps give employees and managers a phone-based option, while the browser version supports access on desktop devices.

Who it's for

Workzoom is a stronger fit for mid-market employers that want performance, learning, career planning and succession connected to HR and payroll employee records. It is less suitable for organizations that need employees to maintain their own career plans or expect succession readiness to update automatically. The lack of a free plan or trial also makes it a poor fit for teams that require a no-cost way to evaluate or use talent software.

Pros and cons

Pro: Performance, learning, career planning and succession share employee data with HR and payroll, bringing several talent processes together.
Pro: Learning includes multiple course formats, automatic assignment, expiry notifications and progress reporting.
Pro: Included support and named identity, accounting and provider connections can help organizations working across those systems.
Con: Career plans and succession readiness require administrator maintenance, limiting employee ownership and automatic workflow continuity.
Con: Module connections do not automatically carry actions such as review references or readiness updates between workflows.
Con: There is no free plan or free trial, so prospective customers cannot start with a no-cost option.
