Overview

Tebex is a monetization service for game servers and studios selling digital goods. It is best suited to operators who want a game-oriented store and sales administration in one place; the main trade-off is a percentage fee on sales, including on the free plan.

Web and in-game storefronts can sell items, subscriptions, season passes, and DLC. Tebex also handles checkout, sales tax, fraud detection, chargebacks, and disputes as Merchant of Record. That combination is useful for a game business that would otherwise need to assemble several services, but it comes with a clear boundary: Tebex does not support physical goods or marketplace services.

Key features

Stores and integrations

Developers can use Webstore Builder, Headless API, or Checkout API. Official server plugins cover Minecraft, Hytale, Rust, ARK, and FiveM, which also has a built-in native integration. These options make Tebex a natural candidate for operators in those communities. Checkout API access is less certain: it requires prior compliance-team approval and is unavailable to some UGC creators, including FiveM and RedM creators.

Payments and sales administration

Tebex supports more than 130 local and global payment methods, giving buyers a broad range of checkout choices. As Merchant of Record, it calculates, collects, and remits sales tax; fraud detection and chargeback handling are included, and it manages disputes end to end. It also says it ensures PCI, GDPR, and sanctions compliance worldwide. This is a substantial administrative bundle, particularly for small teams, though the platform fee applies alongside it.

Support

Advertised 24/7 support covers payment, integration, and technical questions. That scope matters for a storefront tied to purchases and game-server integrations, where payment or setup issues can affect sales.

Pricing

Tebex is freemium, with a free Starter plan and a 90-day Plus trial for new stores that requires no payment details. Every plan carries a platform fee: 5% for most games and 15% for FiveM. The higher FiveM rate makes the free option less compelling for stores with meaningful sales volume, even before considering upgrades.

Plan	Price	What it includes
Starter	£0 monthly fee	5% platform fee for most games, 15% for FiveM, and unlimited packages.
Plus	£12.49/mo	Same platform fees and unlimited packages, plus custom templates, HTML/CSS editing, and custom domain support.
Plus prepaid — 3 months	£33.72 upfront for 3 months	Tebex Plus; 15% savings versus monthly.
Plus prepaid — 6 months	£63.70 upfront for 6 months	Tebex Plus; 15% savings versus monthly.
Plus prepaid — 12 months	£119.90 upfront for 12 months	Tebex Plus; 20% savings versus monthly.

Starter is the straightforward choice for a new or smaller store that can use the standard storefront. Plus is for operators who need more control over store appearance or want a custom domain; the monthly subscription does not reduce the sales fee. Prepaid Plus lowers the subscription cost if the commitment suits the business, but requires paying the term upfront. The 90-day trial gives new stores time to evaluate Plus without entering payment details.

Platforms

Tebex supports web, API, and extension integrations. Its official game plugins and FiveM native integration make it particularly relevant to game-server operators using supported platforms. Payouts are supported in 9 currencies.

Who it's for

Tebex is a strong fit for game-server operators and studios selling digital goods who value supported game integrations and want payment processing, tax handling, and dispute administration bundled together. It is not suitable for physical-goods sellers or marketplace operators. Teams that require Checkout API access should confirm eligibility before building around it, especially UGC creators who may be excluded.

Pros and cons

Pros: Storefronts cover in-game and web sales of items, subscriptions, season passes, and DLC, with plugins for several established game communities.
Pros: More than 130 payment methods and Merchant of Record tax handling reduce the operational work of running international digital sales.
Pros: Fraud detection, chargeback handling, end-to-end dispute management, and round-the-clock support cover important parts of purchase operations.
Cons: The 5% fee for most games and 15% for FiveM applies even on Starter; upgrading to Plus adds a monthly subscription without changing those rates.
Cons: Physical goods and marketplace services are outside Tebex's eligibility, while Checkout API access requires approval and excludes some creators.

Alternatives

For app-focused monetization, RevenueCat offers a free plan up to $2,500 in monthly tracked revenue, then charges 1% of tracked revenue; it is the more relevant option for teams working across Android, iOS, macOS, web, and API rather than game-server storefronts. Adapty is another app-oriented choice, free while earnings stay under $5K/month and charging 1% of monthly revenue above that threshold, with Android, iOS, web, and API support.

Xsolla may suit teams seeking a hosted payment process and standard purchase flows without backend infrastructure; its SDK pricing is 5% per transaction with no monthly fee or minimum volume. Qonversion is worth considering for app subscription monetization: Pro is free at or under $7,000 MTR, then billed monthly based on monthly tracked revenue, and includes unlimited apps and seats.

AppLovin MAX is a free option for Android and iOS publishers focused on ad mediation, with bidding networks paying AppLovin a fee on generated ad revenue. Google AdMob is another free Android, iOS, API, and web option for advertising monetization; earnings depend on advertiser demand and ad performance, with a USD 100 payment threshold.

Superwall is an app-focused alternative for teams needing paywall tools: its Startup plan costs $49.00 USD per month plus 1% of MAR and includes surveys, localization, AI-powered localization, and collaborators. CAS.AI Mediation is a free option for Android, API, and iOS app ad mediation; it takes a cut from earnings, and its no-loss A/B test applies to apps with 5,000 or more daily active users.

Verdict

Choose Tebex if you run a game server or studio selling digital goods and want game-specific storefronts with payment, tax, and dispute handling in one service. Its broad operational coverage is the main reason to choose it; the recurring percentage fee, steep FiveM rate, and eligibility restrictions are the reasons to look elsewhere.
