Overview

SolidPing covers more than basic website availability: it supports 40 check types, from HTTP, TCP, and DNS through databases, email servers, Docker, Kubernetes, headless browsers, and custom JavaScript. Checks can run every 10 seconds, and monitoring spans six locations. That breadth makes it useful for teams tracking infrastructure and application dependencies alongside public endpoints.

The hosted service stores account, monitoring, incident, and backup data in France on OVHcloud. SolidPing says it uses TLS 1.2 or later in transit, encryption at rest, application-layer encryption for selected credentials, and Argon2id password hashing by default. It does not hold ISO 27001 or SOC 2 certification, which may rule it out for organizations that require either credential.

Key features

Checks, alerts, and on-call

SSL-expiry alerts and server monitoring complement the varied check types. Notifications can go to Slack, Discord, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat, Mattermost, Matrix, Zulip, Telegram, email, webhooks, PagerDuty, ntfy, Gotify, Pushover, and Web Push. On-call rotation schedules, overrides, iCal feeds, and multi-step escalation policies are included even on Free, giving small teams access to structured escalation without a paid tier.

There is an important channel caveat: hosted plans do not include SMS, voice, or WhatsApp alerts. Those channels are possible on self-hosted installations when users supply their own provider credentials. That distinction matters if phone-based escalation is a requirement rather than a nice-to-have.

Status pages and integrations

Public status pages can show sections, incident updates, subscribers, and per-check uptime and response-time metrics. Custom domains are limited by plan, so teams wanting branded status pages need a paid hosted tier or self-hosting. A REST API and MCP endpoint support integrations, while sign-in options include Slack, Discord, Google, GitHub, GitLab, Microsoft, OIDC, and LDAP.

Pricing

The hosted Free plan costs 0.00 EUR per free forever. It allows five team members, 10 check executions per minute, 100 monitors, and one private-location agent. Status pages carry a SolidPing badge and cannot use a custom domain. It is a capable starting point for small setups, but the monitor and execution ceilings make it less suitable as coverage expands.

Starter costs 5.00 EUR per month, billed monthly with VAT excluded. It raises capacity to 10 team members, 20 check executions per minute, 1,000 monitors, and two private-location agents, and adds one custom status-page domain and white labeling. This is the lowest-cost hosted option for teams that have outgrown the Free monitor cap or need a branded page.

Pro costs 15.00 EUR per month, billed monthly with VAT excluded. It supports 50 team members, 100 check executions per minute, 2,000 monitors, three private-location agents, and three custom status-page domains, with white labeling. Scale costs 45.00 EUR per month, billed monthly with VAT excluded, and raises those limits to 250 members, 500 executions per minute, 5,000 monitors, five private agents, and 10 custom domains. Pro fits larger teams needing more throughput and page domains; Scale is for substantially broader monitoring and collaboration needs.

Self-hosted costs 0.00 EUR per free forever and provides unlimited monitors, check rate, private-location agents, and status-page domains, with 30 members by default. It is the strongest option for avoiding hosted quotas and enabling phone alerts through personal provider credentials, but it requires operating the service yourself. SolidPing is a single Go binary using SQLite or PostgreSQL, released under AGPL-3.0.

Platforms

SolidPing is available on the web, Linux, and Windows, and supports API and self-hosted use. Self-hosting gives deployment and provider-credential control; hosted use avoids running the monitoring service yourself.

Who it's for

SolidPing is a strong fit for teams that want one platform for application, infrastructure, and service checks, together with on-call schedules and public status pages. Its Free tier makes those workflows accessible to small teams, while the paid tiers scale monitor, execution, member, and domain capacity. It is less compelling for organizations that require hosted SMS or voice alerts, formal ISO 27001 or SOC 2 certification, or have no appetite for self-hosting but still need phone alerts.

Pros and cons

Pros: Forty check types and intervals as short as 10 seconds cover a wide range of services and monitoring needs.
Pros: On-call schedules and escalation policies are included on Free, not held back for paid plans.
Pros: Self-hosting offers unlimited monitors, check rate, agents, and status-page domains, plus the option to use personal SMS or voice provider credentials.
Cons: Hosted SMS, voice, and WhatsApp alerts are excluded, limiting phone-based escalation unless the team self-hosts.
Cons: Free hosted use is capped at 100 monitors, 10 executions per minute, and one private-location agent; branded custom-domain pages require Starter or higher.
Cons: The hosted service does not hold ISO 27001 or SOC 2 certification, a drawback for buyers with those compliance requirements.

Alternatives

Choose Checkmate if an entirely free, self-hosted option with no monitor limit is more important than SolidPing's stated breadth of checks and built-in on-call features; its free plan includes all features, unlimited monitors, and 12 alert channels.

Uptimia is a web-based alternative with a Basic plan at 9.00 USD per month, billed annually, for small websites; that tier includes 10 checks at one-minute intervals, one advanced check, one server, and one status page. Consider it if that defined small-site bundle suits you better.

UptimeRobot is another freemium alternative, with Android and iOS platforms and a Free plan offering 50 monitors and five-minute monitoring. It may suit readers who prefer a mobile-platform option and can work within that lower monitor cap and slower interval.

HetrixTools offers a free plan with 15 uptime monitors, 15 server monitors, one-minute checks, and four locations. It is worth considering when those limits meet the need and SolidPing's broader check coverage is unnecessary.

Hyperping has a Free plan capped at one seat and 20 monitors, with five-minute checks, one server agent, one basic status page, and HTTP, port, ping, and keyword monitoring. Choose it if that narrower free setup fits a small monitoring workload.

openstatus is a freemium alternative with a free Hobby plan limited to one monitor, one status page, three components, and 10-minute minimum checks. Its free tier is much smaller than SolidPing's, so it is best considered when that small scope is sufficient.

Dotcom-Monitor offers a Free plan for up to 25 targets, checks as frequent as every five minutes, two locations, and email alerts. It may be a fit if those target and frequency limits cover the requirement.

Kuvasz Uptime is a free, open-source, self-hosted alternative with unlimited monitors, status pages, and multiple notification channels.

Verdict

Choose SolidPing if you want broad, fast checks plus on-call and status-page features, especially if the free hosted tier is enough or you can self-host. Its strongest case is the combination of varied monitoring and included escalation workflows; look elsewhere if hosted phone alerts or recognized ISO 27001 or SOC 2 certification are essential.
