Overview

Positionly is an SEO monitoring and reporting service for businesses and agencies tracking search visibility across several sites. It suits teams that want daily rankings alongside competitor, backlink, and audit tools, though keyword and seat caps make plan choice important.

Founded in 2012 and based in Warsaw, Positionly pairs recurring rank checks with tools for investigating competitors and reporting results. Its free tier offers a small way to start; paid tiers add capacity and, at higher levels, API access and white-label options.

Key features

Rank tracking and competitor research

Positionly checks all keywords every 24 hours, with results generally ready around noon in the user's time zone. Local and global search engines are supported, and ranking history helps show movement rather than just a current snapshot. Competitor comparisons cover rankings, their history, and overlapping keywords, which makes the service more useful for planning against rivals than a rank list alone.

Backlinks, audits, and reporting

The backlink section, powered by Majestic, supports keyword-level searches, competitor backlink analysis, and link-quality review. Website audits check crawlability and flag missing keywords. These tools provide useful diagnostic context, although the supplied scope is specific: it does not establish a broader technical audit suite.

Reports can be branded and customized, scheduled or generated manually, and exported as CSV or PDF. That flexibility suits recurring client updates. Users can invite colleagues or clients with read or write access across one or more sites, but the number of users depends on the paid tier.

Integrations and mobile access

Positionly lists Google Analytics integration and says add-ons can sync with Google Spreadsheets. Its mobile app is available for iOS and Android; the service also lists web and API platforms, though API access is confined to higher paid plans.

Pricing

Positionly is freemium. The free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and permits 5 keywords across 1 website. It is a narrow option for a small, occasional check rather than broad monitoring.

Basic: 15.00 USD per month, billed 12 months (20% off); 100 keywords, 10 websites, 10 competitors, 2,500 backlinks, and 1 user. It is the entry paid tier, but its one-user limit rules it out for shared workflows.
Medium: 39.00 USD per month, billed 12 months (20% off); 500 keywords, 20 websites, 20 competitors, 10,000 backlinks, and 5 users. The added seats and tracking capacity fit a small team managing several properties.
Standard: 79.00 USD per month, billed 12 months (20% off); 2,000 keywords, 50 websites, 50 competitors, 20,000 backlinks, 10 users, and API access. This is the first tier with API, useful for teams that need that access without white labeling.
Agency: 159.00 USD per month, billed 12 months (20% off); 5,000 keywords, 100 websites, 100 competitors, 50,000 backlinks, 20 users, API, and white label. Its custom domain, company branding, and removal of Positionly branding make it the natural fit for client-facing agency work.
Platinum: 399.00 USD per month, billed 12 months (20% off); 12,000 keywords, 500 websites, 500 competitors, 150,000 backlinks, 100 users, API, and white label. It is aimed at substantially larger portfolios and teams.

All paid prices are tied to 12-month billing, so the quoted monthly rate comes with an annual commitment. Positionly offers a 14-day trial with no obligation and no credit card required to start. Email contact is offered, with phone numbers for configuring a custom plan.

Platforms

Positionly supports web, API, iOS, and Android. Mobile apps extend access to phone and tablet users, while API availability depends on plan; Standard, Agency, and Platinum include it.

Who it's for

Positionly is best for businesses or agencies that need daily rank checks, competitor context, backlink review, and reusable reports in one service. The Basic tier is constrained to one user, while Medium and above accommodate shared work. Small site owners monitoring only a handful of terms may find the free plan sufficient; organizations with larger keyword portfolios need to budget for higher annual-billed tiers. Agencies requiring their own branding should start at Agency.

Pros and cons

Pros: Daily checks cover local and global search, with historical rankings and competitor overlap for context.
Pros: Backlink review, crawlability and missing-keyword checks, plus exportable recurring reports bring several SEO tasks together.
Pros: Higher plans add multiple users, API access, and white-label controls for client-facing delivery.
Cons: The free allowance is only 5 keywords and 1 website, so it is a trial-sized monitoring option.
Cons: Basic allows just one user, and meaningful team collaboration requires a more expensive tier.
Cons: Paid prices are based on 12-month billing, and white labeling starts at Agency.

Alternatives

Consider Geogrid if you need a free option with 200 credits and one weekly scheduled rescan, rather than Positionly's 5-keyword, 1-site allowance. Choose Raven Tools if its Small Biz plan's 2 domains or campaigns, 2 users, and 1,500 position checks suit your needs; its quoted price is 39.00 USD per year, billed $468/Yearly Prepaid.

Topvisor is worth comparing for its free XS plan with unlimited projects and keywords. Zutrix may suit readers seeking a Starter tier with unlimited projects, 250 keywords, weekly SERP checks, five Content Editor credits, and two team members for 19.00 USD per month.

FreeSERP offers a free plan with 100 credits and 10 keywords per project. Marketing Miner is another alternative, with a free Minee tier covering one website plus competitors, 10 keywords, 50 profilers, and 500 credits.

SerpRobot starts at 4.99 USD per month for 75 keyword updates per 24 hours, making it a narrower low-cost option for update volume. For local-business profile monitoring, Grid My Business has a free Starter tier with two business profiles, unlimited keywords, five competitors, and 250 scan credits.

Verdict

Positionly is a sound choice for teams and agencies that want daily rank tracking backed by competitor, backlink, audit, and reporting tools, especially when higher tiers' user and white-label controls match their workflow. Look elsewhere if you need a generous free allowance, a multi-user entry plan, or paid pricing without an annual billing commitment.
