Overview

Logi Options+ is Logitech’s free companion software for configuring its supported peripherals and shaping how they behave in individual apps. It is best for people building a workflow around Logitech hardware, especially those who use more than one computer; its strongest tools are useful, but some are tied to specific MX devices.

For a compatible setup, it combines fine-grained input controls with automation and cross-computer features at no software cost. It is not the right pick for people who need a hardware-agnostic utility or a feature their device does not support.

Key features

Device and app customization

Options+ can adjust pointer speed, scrolling speed and direction, sensitivity, and polling rate, while gesture assignments on mice and touchpads handle navigation and media controls. Macro support and per-app profiles add flexibility for users who want different behavior in different contexts. App presets or custom actions cover Chrome, Edge, Safari, Zoom, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, and Teams, making the software more useful for repeated work in those apps than for unsupported workflows.

For presentations, Spotlight Effects provide Highlight, Magnify, and Digital Laser pointing effects. Smart Actions bundle multiple tasks behind a click or keystroke, a practical way to cut repetitive steps. The Actions Ring is a customizable on-screen overlay that places tools near the cursor, and the Marketplace adds plugins, profiles, and icon packs. Both Actions Ring and Marketplace are limited to MX devices other than MX Webcam and MX Ink, so they should not drive a purchase before checking device compatibility.

Multi-computer and device-specific tools

Flow lets users control multiple computers and operating systems and transfer text, images, and files between them, which is the clearest reason to consider Options+ for a multi-computer desk. Supported keyboards can use Easy-Switch to move among up to three devices with one key press. Haptic feedback for specific actions is currently limited to MX Master 4.

Business management and privacy

Administrators can deploy Options+ silently and remotely, including through SCCM, Intune, and Jamf, and configure analytics, Flow, SSO, and automatic updates. Features can also be disabled with command-line parameters. Logitech describes its security approach as enterprise-grade, guided by NIST 800-53 and ISO/IEC 27001:2013; data in transit uses HTTPS with TLS 1.2 or above, and local and AWS S3 server data are encrypted. With consent, the app may collect usage and diagnostic data, but not the data entered with mice, keyboards, or touchpads.

Pricing

Logi Options+ is free: the Logi Options+ plan is free and covers supported Logitech devices. There is no paid tier to weigh against a cheaper plan, so the meaningful limit is compatibility rather than a feature quota or seat cap. Check the specific device requirements before relying on Actions Ring, Marketplace, or haptic feedback.

Platforms

Options+ supports Windows 10 or later and macOS 14 or later. It is designed for supported Logitech mice, keyboards, lights, webcams, touchpads, presentation remotes, and MX Creative Console; these platform requirements make it unsuitable for older operating systems or other desktop platforms.

Who it's for

Choose Options+ if you own supported Logitech hardware and want to tune pointer behavior, create app-specific actions, automate repeated tasks, or move work between computers. It also makes sense for organizations that need remote deployment and configuration controls. If you need features available across unrelated brands, or depend on MX-only functions without owning the relevant device, look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pros: Free access to broad device controls, macros, per-app profiles, and Smart Actions makes it a capable companion for supported Logitech gear.
Pros: Flow transfers text, images, and files across computers, while supported keyboards can switch among up to three devices.
Pros: Remote deployment and configurable enterprise settings suit managed environments.
Cons: Windows 10 or later and macOS 14 or later requirements exclude older systems and other platforms.
Cons: Actions Ring and Marketplace exclude MX Webcam and MX Ink, and haptic feedback is currently limited to MX Master 4.
Cons: Its value depends on owning supported Logitech devices; it is not a general-purpose customization app for mixed-brand hardware.

Alternatives

Keyboard and Mouse Customization Software is the place to compare options across the category. Consider Rebind instead if you want a free software mode with Luau scripting, no account requirement, and support for Linux as well as macOS and Windows. Logitech G HUB is another free Logitech option, centered on LIGHTSYNC RGB customization, device configuration and presets, and game profiles.

Razer Synapse is a free alternative for supported macOS, Windows, and web use. Glorious CORE is the more relevant pick for configuring Glorious products; cloud profile saving requires a Glorious ID. MonsGeek Driver suits users looking for keyboard driver and configuration downloads, with supported models varying by driver.

ROCCAT Swarm II is a free configuration option for compatible Turtle Beach devices on Windows, Android, and iOS. Rapoo A HUB is a free option on macOS, web, and Windows. ASUS Armoury Crate is a free Windows alternative.

Verdict

Logi Options+ is an easy recommendation for Logitech owners who want deeper device controls, per-app customization, and especially cross-computer Flow without paying for the software. Its main reason to look elsewhere is the hardware and operating-system boundary: verify both before counting on the MX-specific features or installing it on an older system.
