Overview

Marvel brings wireframing, mockups and prototypes for websites and apps into a browser workspace, with no coding required to create interactive presentations. Teams can group work in folders, set up separate teams and collect comments and annotations in context. That makes it useful for moving from an early screen concept to review and handoff without splitting those tasks across separate tools.

Handoff generates downloadable assets and CSS, Swift and Android XML, with outputs kept in sync as designs change. A GraphQL API covers project data, prototypes, interactions, designs, collaborators, comments and beta user testing. Integrations include Sketch, Jira, Confluence, Dropbox Paper, Microsoft Teams, YouTube, Niice, Smartmockups and Zeroheight. Those connections broaden its role, though the platform is not a desktop app.

Key features

Prototyping and collaboration

Interactive prototypes let teams present realistic flows without coding, while comments and annotations keep feedback attached to project work. Mobile apps support creating, playing and sharing prototypes, offline viewing and Sketch syncing. Together, these tools suit teams that need to share concepts across web and mobile; the free plan’s single-project cap may quickly constrain ongoing work.

Handoff and enterprise controls

Designers can deliver downloadable assets and code for CSS, Swift and Android, and keep those materials synchronized with design changes. Enterprise adds SSO, IP restrictions, access logs, user permissions and project-level password protection. Marvel says its infrastructure is EU hosted and GDPR compliant, with SOC 1, SOC 2, SOC 3 and ISO27001-certified data centers; it also says traffic uses 256-bit SSL/TLS 1.2 encryption and data is encrypted at rest. The company advertises a 99.98% uptime SLA and 24/7 global support coverage.

Pricing

Marvel is freemium, with a 7-day trial and paid plans priced per month on annual billing. Consider both the seat count and active user-test quota when comparing tiers.

Free: 0.00 USD per free, for 1 user and 1 project. It is a tight fit for trying the workflow or a small, single-project effort, not a growing portfolio. Downgrading to Free leaves only one project active and makes other projects inactive.
Pro: 12.00 USD per month (billed billed yearly), for 1 user, unlimited projects, 3 active user tests, prototype and design downloads, and removal of Marvel branding. It suits a solo designer who needs multiple projects and unbranded downloads, but the single seat does not cover a team.
Team: 42.00 USD per month (billed billed yearly), starting at 3 users. It includes unlimited projects, 10 active user tests, downloads, removal of branding and premium support. This is the more practical fit for a small team; its higher entry price buys additional seats and a larger test quota.
Enterprise: Custom pricing for unlimited users and projects, advanced security settings, SSO and custom billing. It is aimed at organizations that need centralized access controls and enterprise terms rather than a fixed seat tier.

Platforms

Marvel supports Android, iOS, web and an API, but has no desktop app. Design systems, real-time collaboration and interactive prototyping are supported. Browser-based design and mobile prototype apps give it a broad device footprint without a dedicated desktop client.

Who it's for

Marvel is a good fit for individuals and teams that want to connect wireframing, interactive review and developer handoff, from a solo Pro user to an organization needing Enterprise security controls. It is less compelling for a small group that needs several seats at the lowest tier, or for anyone who requires a desktop app. Schools, startups and large companies are among the audiences Marvel says it serves.

Pros and cons

Pro: Prototypes, feedback and handoff share one platform, reducing the need to move work between separate stages.
Pro: Handoff outputs include CSS, Swift and Android XML and stay synchronized with design changes, helping keep implementation materials current.
Pro: Enterprise combines SSO and access controls with stated encryption, compliance and uptime commitments.
Con: Free is limited to one user and one project; downgrading also makes other projects inactive.
Con: Pro is for one user, while Team starts at 3 users and costs 42.00 USD per month on annual billing, making team access a substantial step up from solo pricing.
Con: Pro and Team cap active user tests at 3 and 10 respectively, so teams with heavier testing needs should weigh those quotas.

Alternatives

Consider Zeplin Flows if a free flow-mapping option matters: its Free plan includes one project, 100 screens and unlimited members, but no Flow Boards. Choose FlowSnap if you want a free mobile app with up to three projects and core canvas features, accepting PNG exports with a watermark.

Rheo is another freemium option for Android and iOS; its Indie plan starts free with one app, one seat and 400 MAU included. Figr may fit web or API workflows: its Free plan offers 10 monthly refreshing credits, three canvases and Figma export, while Starter is 39.00 USD per month. Sketchflow.ai is a freemium Android, iOS and web alternative.

For site planning, Slickplan offers a Basic plan at 10.79 USD per month billed annually for one user, three active projects and 1 GB storage; Wireflow is free, open-source and self-hostable, with no sign-up needed. Software Ideas Modeler is a Windows alternative with a Standard option free for non-commercial use and basic UML and diagrams.

Explore User Flow Software, Web Design Software, Prototyping Software, UI design tools, Developer Handoff Software or Game UI Design Software to compare category options.

Verdict

Marvel is best for designers and product teams that want prototyping, feedback and developer handoff in one workflow, with Enterprise controls available for larger organizations. Choose it when that connected process matters more than a generous free tier; look elsewhere if you need multiple free projects, low-cost team seats or a desktop app.
