Overview

Founded in 2013 and headquartered in Paris, Ornikar operates as a state-approved driving school under approval number E16 044 00090. Its scope stretches beyond driving education to car and home insurance, making it a broader choice than a code-study app alone.

Theory preparation includes more than 1,700 questions aligned with the official 2026 exam, course sheets, live sessions and mock exams. For practical lessons, learners can choose a time, instructor and meeting location. Ornikar says it has more than 1,800 certified instructors.

Its car insurance includes assistance from 0 km, replacement vehicles and permission to lend the car to another driver. Crédit Agricole Assurances and Mondial Assistance are named as insurance partners.

Key features

Exam preparation

Code de la route plans include course sheets, practice sessions, mock exams, a progress path, error series and survival mode. Code Boost adds three personalized training modes. That makes Boost the more fitting option for learners who want additional structure; the base plan covers the core study tools without those modes.

Lessons and support

Flexible selection of the lesson time, instructor and meeting location gives learners control over practical scheduling. The service also includes school administration. Its help center provides instant answers 24/7, with agent contact through account help and contact tools or a contact form.

Privacy and payments

Ornikar says personal data is mainly stored on servers in the European Union and that its technical and organizational measures align with GDPR Articles 32 to 34 and French data-protection law. It says it does not hold users' banking information and uses current payment-security standards.

Pricing

Ornikar has a free plan, alongside paid code subscriptions and driving-hour packages. The monthly code plans are Code de la route at 299.00 EUR per month and Code Boost at 399.00 EUR per month, both billed monthly. The former includes the core study tools; Boost adds three personalized training modes.

Longer-term options are Code de la route 3 mois at 799.00 EUR per month, billed 3 months, and Code Boost 3 mois at 1099.00 EUR per month, billed 3 months. Six-month options are Code de la route 6 mois at 1499.00 EUR per month, billed 6 months, and Code Boost 6 mois at 2099.00 EUR per month, billed 6 months. The three- and six-month versions retain the same distinction: Boost adds three personalized training modes to the core features. The quoted per-month prices and billing terms should be weighed carefully when comparing commitments.

Driving lessons can be bought individually or in packs: Heure de conduite à la carte costs 4299.00 EUR per once, billed per driving hour; Pack 5 heures de conduite costs 25499.00 EUR per once, billed as a one-time package; Pack 10 heures de conduite costs 49499.00 EUR per once; and Pack 20 heures de conduite costs 87999.00 EUR per once. Packs suit learners planning several lessons, while the single-hour option avoids buying a package upfront.

Platforms

Ornikar is available on the web and through iOS and Android apps for phones and tablets. That range suits learners who want to study or manage lessons across mobile devices as well as a browser.

Who it's for

Ornikar is strongest for learners seeking both road-code preparation and driving lessons through one approved school, with flexible lesson booking. Its insurance offerings may also appeal to people who want education and coverage from the same provider. It is less compelling for someone seeking only free theory practice or a standalone driving-school management tool.

Pros and cons

Pros: Exam-aligned questions, live sessions and mock exams give theory learners a varied preparation set.
Pros: Learners can choose a lesson time, instructor and meeting point, which allows practical scheduling control.
Pros: Code Boost adds personalized training modes, and longer-duration plans provide alternatives to monthly billing.
Cons: The code-plan prices are substantial as quoted, and the longer plans still state a per-month price alongside multi-month billing terms.

Alternatives

Verdict

Choose Ornikar if you want an approved driving school that brings substantial code preparation, configurable lesson booking and insurance offerings together. Its breadth is the main reason to pick it; the main reason to look elsewhere is the quoted subscription cost, particularly if all you need is free theory practice.
