Overview

Unimus combines configuration backup, change management, auditing, compliance, and automation. Its stated support for more than 400 device types from over 150 vendors makes it a credible option for networks spanning multiple manufacturers. Because it is deployed on-premises and configuration data stays in the customer’s network, it is a better fit for organizations that need local control than for those seeking a cloud-hosted service.

Security controls include application-layer encryption for sensitive database data and AES-128-CBC encryption for device credentials and API tokens, using a user-defined key. Unimus also lists role-based access control, LDAP and RADIUS support, multi-factor authentication, and system access history. Its stated coverage includes ISO 9001:2015, ISO 22301:2019, ISO/IEC 27001:2022, and PCI DSS Merchant Compliance.

Key features

Backups and history: Automatic backups and versioned configuration history give administrators a record to consult when reviewing or managing device configurations.
Change tracking: Graphical configuration diffs make changes easier to inspect, while the REST API supports integration with other tools and workflows.
Notifications: Email, Pushover, and Slack notifications can alert teams to configuration changes, useful when changes need prompt review.
Automation: Scheduled, zero-touch network-wide configuration deployment reduces the need to apply changes device by device. Scheduled or triggered pulls of configuration and runtime data add flexibility for recurring or event-driven collection.
Monitoring-system integrations: Inventory synchronization and integrations including LibreNMS, Nautobot, NetBox, NetXMS, Observium, PRTG, and Zabbix help connect configuration management with existing network monitoring workflows.
Air-gapped use: Offline Mode is limited to Unlimited licenses and is not supported on Per-Device plans, a meaningful constraint for isolated networks.

Pricing

Unimus has a free plan and paid per-device and Unlimited tiers. The paid plans use custom pricing; the per-device tiers are billed yearly, and the Unlimited tiers use annual pricing.

Plan	Price and terms	What it includes
Free	Free; no time limitations; up to 10 device licences	All features except Compliance and SAML/OIDC; Community support
Standard	Custom pricing; billed yearly; per device; up to 1,000 devices	Email support; excludes Compliance and SAML/OIDC
Advanced	Custom pricing; billed yearly; per device; up to 1,000 devices	8/5 phone support; includes Compliance and SAML/OpenID/OIDC
Unlimited Standard	Custom pricing; annual pricing; unlimited devices	8/5 phone support; Offline Mode; excludes Compliance and SAML/OIDC
Unlimited Advanced	Custom pricing; annual pricing; unlimited devices	24/7 phone support; Compliance; SAML/OpenID/OIDC; Enterprise Contract

The Free tier has no time limit, but its 10-device ceiling and missing Compliance and SAML/OIDC make it a starter option rather than a complete fit for larger or compliance-focused deployments. Standard raises the cap to 1,000 devices and adds email support, while giving up Compliance and SAML/OIDC. Advanced keeps the same device ceiling but adds those capabilities and 8/5 phone support. For networks beyond 1,000 devices or requiring Offline Mode, Unlimited Standard offers an unlimited device allowance and Offline Mode, but still excludes Compliance and SAML/OIDC. Unlimited Advanced adds both, along with 24/7 phone support and an Enterprise Contract. Offline Mode is only available on Unlimited licenses.

Platforms

Unimus supports API, Linux, self-hosted, web, and Windows. Its on-premises deployment model keeps configuration data within the customer’s network.

Who it's for

Unimus is best suited to network teams managing configurations across varied device types that need versioned backups, change visibility, and scheduled deployment in one on-premises product. The Free plan can serve small environments of up to 10 devices; teams needing Compliance or SAML/OIDC must move to Advanced or Unlimited Advanced. It is not the right fit for an air-gapped deployment on a Per-Device license, or for organizations that want cloud-hosted management.

Pros and cons

Pro — Broad stated device coverage: Support for more than 400 device types from over 150 vendors is useful for mixed-vendor networks.
Pro — Local data control: On-premises deployment keeps configuration data in the customer’s network, backed by listed encryption and access controls.
Pro — Multiple ways to act on changes: Graphical diffs, notifications, a REST API, and scheduled deployment support review as well as automation.
Con — Small free allowance: The free plan stops at 10 device licences and omits Compliance and SAML/OIDC.
Con — Air-gapped use requires Unlimited: Offline Mode is unavailable on Per-Device licenses, so isolated environments cannot use the cheaper license structure.
Con — Paid pricing is custom: Buyers cannot compare a published per-device or annual price before contacting Unimus.

Alternatives

Network Configuration Management Software is a broader category guide for comparing products in this field.

ManageEngine Network Configuration Manager is worth considering if its free trial or broader platform support, including Android and iOS, matters; its Free Edition covers two devices, versus Unimus’s 10.
Oxidized is a free, self-hosted alternative for readers who prefer Apache-2.0 licensed software and do not need Unimus’s paid-tier structure.
rConfig offers a no-device-limit, MIT-licensed Core plan that runs on your hardware; consider it if an unlimited free allowance is the priority.
Arista NG Firewall is another freemium option for readers seeking a web-based product with a free plan.
Netpicker may suit readers who want an unlimited-device free Foundation plan, which allows one user and includes Professional features for 10 devices.
NetKeep is a free, self-hosted alternative for Linux on amd64 or arm64 servers, licensed under AGPL-3.0.
Infoblox Cloud Network Automation uses token-based licensing with custom pricing.
Motadata ObserveOps Log Monitoring is a paid alternative with annual subscription and perpetual license plans.

Verdict

Choose Unimus if your network team wants on-premises configuration backups, change visibility, and deployment automation across a broad mix of devices. Its local deployment and feature range are the main reasons to choose it; the 10-device free cap, custom paid pricing, and Unlimited-only Offline Mode are reasons to look elsewhere if you need larger-scale use, upfront cost clarity, or air-gapped operation on a per-device budget.
