Overview

Upload a photo and PicWish automatically colorizes it for download. The maker says its AI algorithms and deep learning are designed to add natural, realistic colors.

Processing takes place in the cloud. PicWish says uploads are encrypted in transit with SSL/TLS, used for the requested processing, and automatically deleted one hour after the user last edits or closes the processing page. It also says it is ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 27701 certified and GDPR compliant. Support includes 24/7 live chat and tickets.

Key features

Automatic colorization: The upload-to-download workflow is useful for users who want a quick result without special editing skills.
Batch editing: Online bulk editing supports up to 30 images; the desktop version can batch edit up to 10,000. The larger capacity is suited to sizable archives, while occasional users can stay within the online option.
API: Developers can add bulk colorization to apps, websites, platforms, or automated business workflows using PicWish's API documentation. The default rate limit is two requests per second; support can be contacted about higher concurrency.
File compatibility: Upload formats include JPG, JPEG, BMP, PNG, WEBP, TIFF, TIF, BITMAP, RAW, RGB, JFIF, and LZW; downloads are JPEG, JPG, PNG, or WEBP.

Pricing

PicWish uses a freemium model and offers two free options. Photo Colorizer online costs 0.00 USD per free and includes free colorization and downloads, with bulk editing for up to 30 images. It is the more direct choice for users focused on coloring photos.

The broader Free Plan also costs 0.00 USD per free and includes free previews for most features and access to free tools, but limits non-HD downloads per day. That cap matters if you need regular full-quality output; the online colorizer's stated free offer is more suitable for a batch of colorized images. Commercial use is personal only.

Platforms

PicWish lists Android, iOS, macOS, web, and Windows, as well as an API. Cloud processing means the online workflow depends on sending images to the service rather than keeping the process local.

Who it's for

PicWish is a sensible fit for personal photo restoration, especially when speed or batch volume matters more than manual control. Developers can consider the API for integrating colorization, subject to its default request rate. Businesses needing commercial use should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pro: Free online colorization and downloads make it accessible for personal restoration without a stated charge.
Pro: Batch capacity scales from 30 online images to 10,000 on desktop, useful for both small sets and large archives.
Pro: An API supports integration into apps and automated workflows.
Con: Use is limited to personal purposes, ruling it out for commercial image work.
Con: The broader free plan limits non-HD downloads per day, which can constrain repeated high-quality output.
Con: Cloud processing may not suit users who need local image handling.

Verdict

PicWish Photo Colorizer is best for personal users who want automatic coloring, free online use, and batch capacity that can scale to large collections on desktop. The API also gives developers a route to integrate colorization. Its personal-use restriction is the clearest reason to choose another service for commercial work.
