Overview

ilert connects alert delivery with the work that follows: scheduling responders, escalating incidents, assigning command, and communicating service status. Alerts can arrive by push, SMS, voice call, or messengers; a responder can acknowledge with one click and no login. That low-friction acknowledgment is useful when the person on call needs to act quickly, while the range of delivery channels gives teams options for reaching people.

Teams can set follow-the-sun rotations, swap shifts, and manage overrides in the mobile app. Incident handling includes severity settings, parallel escalations, and incident commander assignment. Public, private, and audience-specific status pages let teams tailor updates to different readers. Post-incident reviews, stakeholder updates, and ChatOps incident actions extend the offering beyond the initial alert.

Key features

Alerting and integrations

Prebuilt integrations cover monitoring, ticketing, chat, and collaboration tools. Email, SMS, heartbeat monitoring, and a custom Event API provide additional ways to feed events into the platform. The breadth is a practical advantage for teams coordinating across existing operational tools; the value depends on whether their current stack fits those integration categories.

AI SRE and incident response

AI SRE examines logs, metrics, traces, and change data to produce a root-cause hypothesis, supporting evidence, and a proposed action for human review. That makes it a potential aid during investigation, not a substitute for a responder’s judgment. Monthly AI credits vary by plan, so teams should consider expected usage alongside the responder seat cost.

Security and hosting

ilert states that it is ISO 27001 certified and GDPR compliant, encrypts data in transit and at rest, conducts external penetration testing, and makes automatic offsite backups. Its European cloud hosting uses Frankfurt as the primary location and Dublin for disaster recovery. These provisions will matter to organizations weighing security controls and European hosting in a vendor decision.

Pricing

ilert uses a freemium model and offers a 14-day trial. The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free, supports up to 5 users and 1 status page, and includes 100 SMS/voice notifications per month. Only one Free plan is allowed per company. The notification allowance is a hard cap: once it is reached, notifications stop until the quota resets unless the account moves to a paid plan. That makes Free suitable for evaluation or low-volume use, but a poor fit for teams that cannot risk a pause in phone or SMS alerts.

Pro costs 39.00 USD per month, billed per user per month, with a minimum of 3 users; yearly plans cost 20% less. It adds unlimited SMS/voice notifications, SSO, unlimited viewer users, and 250 AI credits per month. The minimum means even a three-person team starts at 117.00 USD per month before any yearly-plan reduction, while teams that mainly need to remove the free notification cap get a clear upgrade path.

Scale is also priced at 39.00 USD per month per user, requires at least 3 users, and is a limited-time offer for new users; yearly plans cost 20% less. It includes all Pro features plus team-based organization, event intelligence and workflows, major incident management, and 1,000 AI credits per month. Its matching listed rate makes those additional capabilities compelling for eligible new customers, but the offer’s limited-time status makes it less dependable as a long-term pricing assumption.

Enterprise starts from 49.00 USD per month per user, billed annually. It includes all Scale features, up to a 99.99% uptime SLA, a dedicated Customer Success Manager, and 5,000 AI credits per month. The annual billing and per-user starting price suit organizations seeking the higher service commitment and support, rather than small teams shopping for the lowest entry cost.

Platforms

ilert supports Android, iOS, web, and API access. Mobile coverage is especially relevant for responders managing shifts or receiving alerts away from a desk; web access supports broader team coordination.

Who it's for

ilert is aimed at organizations of different sizes and industries, including retail, financial services, telecommunications, transport, public services, utilities, and technology. Its combination of on-call scheduling, escalation policies, incident coordination, and advanced status pages best fits teams that need a shared operational process rather than alert delivery alone. The free tier can serve a small team with modest notification volume, while the three-user paid minimum and capped free notifications make it less attractive for a solo operator or a very small team with sustained SMS or voice needs.

Pros and cons

Pros: Multiple alert channels and no-login acknowledgment reduce friction in reaching and mobilizing responders.
Pros: Mobile shift swaps and overrides, follow-the-sun rotations, and parallel escalations support distributed coverage.
Pros: Public, private, and audience-specific status pages sit alongside incident reviews, stakeholder updates, and ChatOps actions.
Pros: AI SRE offers evidence and a proposed action for human review, with larger credit allowances on higher plans.
Cons: The Free plan stops SMS and voice notifications at 100 per month, so it cannot be relied on as an uncapped alerting tier.
Cons: Paid plans require at least three users, raising the entry cost for small teams.
Cons: Scale’s listed price is a limited-time offer for new users, while Enterprise bills annually.

Alternatives

AlertOps is worth considering when a five-user free tier with basic alert routing, three escalation policies, and more than 200 integrations is a closer fit. PagerDuty may suit teams that want a free incident-management plan with one on-call schedule and one escalation policy for five users. Better Stack is an option for personal projects seeking a free plan combining monitors and heartbeats, a status page, exceptions, session replays, and retained logs and traces. OpsKnight offers a free, self-hosted Community edition under AGPL-3.0-only, including one status page per install.

FireHydrant may fit teams focused on runbooks and chatbot-based incident response, with a free plan for up to 10 responders and one public status page. xMatters is another freemium choice, with a free plan for up to five users and a Starter plan for teams of up to 25. incident.io is worth comparing for native Slack or Microsoft Teams incident response, single-team on-call, a status page, and essential automation on its free Basic plan. Rootly is a paid alternative with a 20.00 USD per month Incident Response Essentials plan.

Verdict

ilert is a strong fit for teams that need alerting, on-call coordination, incident response, and audience-aware status updates in one platform. Its broad responder workflows and AI-assisted investigation are the main reasons to choose it; the hard free SMS/voice cap and three-user paid minimum are the reasons to look elsewhere if usage is small or budgets are tight.
