Overview

Socure is an identity, fraud, risk, and compliance platform for organizations handling digital onboarding and other identity-dependent workflows. It is best suited to businesses and government agencies that need configurable identity decisions at scale; its self-serve Launch option gives startups and developers a narrower way in. The central trade-off is breadth and customization against per-evaluation costs and the work of integrating a business-focused platform.

RiskOS brings decisioning and orchestration together across consumer and business onboarding, trust and safety, login and authentication, bank account verification, workforce verification, and age assurance. Socure says it serves more than 3,000 customers in financial services, government, gaming, marketplaces, healthcare, telecom, and e-commerce. Founded in 2012 and headquartered in New York City, it positions its products for enterprises and government agencies, not as a general-purpose consumer app.

Socure supports Android, iOS, web, and API. The platform offers API access and dashboard-and-API integration, while Launch supports either a direct API or hosted UI. Compare the Identity Verification Software and KYC Software categories if you are weighing other approaches.

Key features

Identity and fraud decisions

RiskOS combines identity, fraud, risk, and compliance decisioning with orchestration. Socure’s Sigma products target identity fraud, synthetic identity fraud, and first-party fraud, making them relevant to organizations that need to assess several forms of identity-related risk within digital workflows.

Document checks and onboarding

Predictive DocV verifies identity documents and biometrics, including liveness detection. DocV plans cover government ID scans and selfies, with IDs from 195+ countries; the higher-priced KYC and prefill options add identity and fraud checks, sanctions screening, or name and phone prefill. That range lets buyers match checks to a workflow, but makes it important to compare each evaluation price against the steps they actually need.

Launch and integrations

Socure Launch provides production-ready workflows, four pre-built solutions, and $1,000 in monthly credits. It is aimed at startups and developers with limited customization needs, rather than buyers seeking the full tailoring of Enterprise. Launch supports direct API and hosted UI integration, and includes API documentation, integration guides, in-app chat, and ticketed support. The pricing page also lists DocV and Digital Intelligence SDK and MCP Server support.

Enterprise, partners, and assurance

Enterprise adds tailored solutions, case management, custom dashboards, configurable workflows, dedicated solution and data science support, customer success, and implementation assistance. It is the more suitable route when pre-built workflows are too restrictive, though the usage-based pricing and volume discounts require a custom quote.

RiskOS names Equifax, FIS, Kyckr, Mastercard, Middesk, Markaaz, OpenCorporates, Vouched, and Baselayer as ecosystem partners. Socure’s Trust Center lists SOC 2 Type 2, ISO/IEC 27001:2022, ISO/IEC 27017:2015, and FedRAMP Moderate among its compliance items. These are relevant considerations for organizations evaluating assurance and integrations, rather than a substitute for checking their own requirements.

Pricing

Socure has a free plan and paid evaluations from $0.80. Launch includes $1,000 in monthly credits, offering a self-serve way to begin with its four pre-built solutions. That is most compelling for early-stage teams or developers with limited customization needs; the credits are monthly, and Enterprise is the route for tailored workflows and dedicated assistance.

Document Verification (DocV): $0.80 per evaluation for a government ID scan and selfie, with IDs from 195+ countries. A straightforward fit when document and selfie checks are sufficient.
Document Verification (DocV) + Watchlist: $0.90 per evaluation for a government ID scan, selfie, and sanctions check, with IDs from 195+ countries. The extra $0.10 buys screening alongside document verification.
KYC + Fraud + Watchlist, DocV Step up: $1.00 per evaluation for identity checks, fraud detection, sanctions screening, and document verification step-up. It suits workflows that need more than a document check alone.
Prefill, KYC + Fraud + Watchlist, DocV Step up: $1.30 per evaluation, adding name and phone prefill to identity and fraud checks, sanctions screening, and document verification step-up. It costs $0.30 more than the preceding bundle and is intended for workflows that use prefilled contact details as well.
Socure Enterprise: custom pricing, billed on usage with volume discounts. It includes fully customizable solutions, dedicated support, and solution consultants.

The published self-serve prices are per evaluation, so recurring volume should be assessed against the checks included in each workflow. Enterprise shifts the conversation to usage and volume; Launch credits offer an entry route, but the published terms do not define a seat allowance or a trial period.

Platforms

Socure is available on Android, iOS, web, and API. It offers dashboard-and-API integration, and Launch can be connected through a direct API or hosted UI. These options suit organizations embedding verification into digital processes; buyers should choose based on whether they need an interface or a direct integration.

Who it's for

Socure is a strong fit for businesses and government agencies that need identity, fraud, and compliance decisioning across onboarding, authentication, verification, or age assurance. Startups and developers who can work within four pre-built solutions can start with Launch and its monthly credits. Organizations requiring configurable workflows, case management, custom dashboards, and dedicated implementation support are better matched to Enterprise.

It is less suitable for individuals looking for a standalone identity app, or teams whose needs are limited to a narrow check and who do not need broader orchestration. Its per-evaluation structure also calls for careful cost comparison as evaluation volume and workflow complexity grow.

Pros and cons

Pros

Broad workflow coverage: RiskOS spans consumer and business onboarding, authentication, trust and safety, and other identity-dependent uses, which can bring varied decisioning needs under one platform.
Several evaluation bundles: per-evaluation pricing ranges from document verification to combinations that include fraud checks and sanctions screening, letting buyers compare costs against the workflow they need.
A self-serve starting point: Launch combines four pre-built solutions with $1,000 in monthly credits and API or hosted UI integration for teams with limited customization needs.
Deeper Enterprise support: configurable workflows, case management, dedicated customer success, and implementation assistance address requirements that Launch is not built to cover.

Cons

Launch customization is limited: four pre-built solutions make it a constrained option for teams that need workflows tailored to their processes.
Costs depend on evaluations and checks: the per-evaluation price rises from $0.80 to $1.30 across the listed self-serve bundles, so additional workflow steps affect unit cost.
Enterprise requires a custom quote: usage-based pricing and volume discounts mean buyers cannot compare its final cost from a fixed price alone.

Alternatives

Didit is worth comparing if a free monthly allowance is the priority: its free plan includes 500 full KYC verifications every month, with no card required.

Shufti may suit teams seeking a free entry point capped at 10 verifications per month, or a service with a free trial.

AU10TIX Identity Document Verification Suite may suit buyers who prefer a fixed monthly minimum: its Basic KYC plan is $500.00 USD per month.

iDenfy is an alternative to assess if a trial matters; its pay-as-you-go subscription is $1.35 USD per month with a $135 minimum monthly bill.

Sumsub is another paid alternative with a free trial; its Basic plan is $1.35 USD per month with a $149 minimum monthly commitment.

Veriff is an alternative for readers comparing identity verification providers.

Alloy Embedded is another option to consider.

Verdict

Choose Socure if your organization needs identity, fraud, and compliance decisioning across multiple digital workflows and values a choice between self-serve entry and a customizable Enterprise offering. Its breadth, per-evaluation bundles, and Enterprise support are the core reasons to shortlist it. Look elsewhere if you need a simpler, narrowly scoped check or a clear fixed Enterprise price: Launch has limited customization, while Enterprise is usage-priced by quote.
