Overview

The suite covers bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, final accounts, tax, practice management, company secretarial work and CRM. Practices can give clients access to bookkeeping and payroll, while firm-facing tools include a client portal, workflow automation, time tracking, billing, document management and deadline tracking. This breadth is useful when a practice wants client services and internal operations in one suite, but the modular structure makes it important to price the actual combination of tools rather than rely on a low starting figure.

Bookkeeping brings together bank feeds, automated reconciliation, invoicing, online payments, receipt management and VAT submissions. Final Accounts supports direct submissions to HMRC and Companies House, and one-click trial balance imports from Xero, Zoho Books, FreeAgent and QuickBooks. That combination is relevant to practices handling both recurring bookkeeping and year-end work, though firms with narrower needs may not benefit from the full range.

Key features

Users can send receipts through WhatsApp, where AI extracts and organises the details. Nomi's mobile app for Apple and Android devices also supports invoicing clients, tracking payments and capturing receipts. These are practical ways to handle routine client work away from a desk; they complement, rather than replace, the wider practice workflows.

The integrations page names Adsum, Companies House, FreeAgent, GoCardless, Nest, Pension Sync, QuickBooks, SignEasy, Stripe, UNIPaaS, Xero and Zapier. The range spans accounting, payments and other services, while the Final Accounts imports offer a direct route for trial balances from four accounting platforms. Nomi says its data is stored exclusively on UK servers, with servers in London and backups in multiple locations. Its data processing addendum says it does not knowingly collect or process sensitive personal data. Support is advertised Monday to Friday, including help with migration and setup.

Pricing

Nomi has no free plan, but offers a 30-day trial with no credit card required and access to all premium services. Prices below are billed plus VAT where stated; modules have different units, so these amounts are not directly comparable.

Self Assessments: 4.00 GBP per month for MTD readiness, HMRC submissions, client and practice workflows, and document storage. It suits firms needing self-assessment work and workflow tools without buying the wider suite.
Bookkeeping & VAT: 4.00 GBP per month for expense and receipt management, VAT submissions, bank feeds and reconciliation, invoicing and online payments. This is the focused option for bookkeeping and VAT, rather than a full practice-management package.
Payroll, Pension & CIS: 2.00 GBP per month, covering up to 10 employees, then 40p for each additional employee. The employee cap matters for growing payrolls.
Final Accounts: 4.00 GBP per month for corporation tax and statutory accounts submissions, accounts production, automated adjustments and journals, and direct HMRC and Companies House filing.
Practice Management: 10.00 GBP per client/month for automated KYC and onboarding, task and deadline management, and a client portal. Its per-client basis can make the total rise with a firm's client base.
Company Secretarial: 0.30 GBP per Business/month for confirmation statements, company incorporations and a Companies House connection.

Practice-specific billing differs. Payroll, Pension & CIS (practice) costs 2.00 GBP per client/month for up to 10 employees, then 40p per additional employee, with HMRC/RTI compliance. Final Accounts (practice) costs 4.00 GBP per submission and includes CT600 and statutory accounts submissions, FRS105/FRS102 templates and one-click trial balance import. Self Assessments (practice) costs 4.00 GBP per submission for MTDITSA readiness, HMRC submission, e-signatures and data collection, and document storage. Bookkeeping & VAT (practice) costs 4.00 GBP per client/month, with unlimited bank feeds, invoicing and online payments, VAT submissions and UK server storage.

Business-owner options are billed monthly: Payroll (business owners) costs 10.00 GBP per month for payroll, pension auto-enrolment, CIS management and HMRC/RTI compliance; Bookkeeping (business owners) costs 15.00 GBP per month for bookkeeping, VAT submissions, bank feeds, invoicing and online payments. The practice and business-owner plans make Nomi usable across different service models, but buyers should account for whether a charge is per client, business, submission or month before comparing costs.

Platforms

Nomi is available on Android, iOS and the web. Its mobile app supports client invoicing, payment tracking and receipt capture; the broader platform covers the suite's practice and accounting workflows.

Who it's for

Nomi is primarily for accounting and bookkeeping practices that provide clients with bookkeeping or payroll access and want related compliance and practice workflows in the same suite. Its per-client and per-submission options may suit firms matching tools to individual engagements. It is less compelling for buyers who need one flat, all-in price or only a single narrowly defined practice function.

Pros and cons

Pros: Broad coverage across bookkeeping, payroll, final accounts and practice operations can reduce the need to split those tasks across separate tools.
Pros: WhatsApp receipt capture with AI extraction, plus mobile invoicing and payment tracking, addresses routine work that often happens away from a desk.
Pros: Direct filing to HMRC and Companies House and trial-balance imports from four accounting platforms support compliance and year-end workflows.
Cons: Different monthly, per-client, per-business and per-submission charges make a practice's total harder to estimate from any single plan price.
Cons: Payroll plans cover up to 10 employees before an added 40p charge per employee, so larger payrolls need to account for the overage.
Cons: There is no free plan, so ongoing use requires a paid module or combination of modules after the trial.

Alternatives

TaxDome is another paid option, with Android, iOS, macOS, web and Windows platforms; choose it if those platform options better fit your firm's setup. Canopy has a free plan and supports Android, iOS and web, making it worth considering if a freemium starting point matters. CCH Axcess Practice is a paid Android, iOS and web alternative with quote-based pricing. KashFlow is a paid accounting option with a free trial and Android, API, iOS and web platforms; its Starter plan is 13.50 GBP per month and includes 10 invoices and 25 bank transactions, so it may suit a buyer comparing a defined entry plan rather than Nomi's module-based charges. IRIS Practice Engine is a paid alternative available on web and API. Karbon is paid and offers Android, API, iOS and web access; its Team plan is 59.00 USD per month per user when paid annually, or $79/month per user when paid monthly, with monthly subscriptions only for teams of four or more. CCH iFirm is a paid web and API alternative with a Client Portal plan at 730.00 USD per year, including one user, training and support, with setup and additional-user charges. Financial Cents is a paid web-only alternative with a free trial; its Solo plan is 19.00 USD per month when billed annually under a 12-month agreement for single-user firms.

Verdict

Nomi is a strong fit for accounting and bookkeeping practices that want client-facing bookkeeping or payroll alongside filing and practice-management workflows, and can choose modules around their service mix. Its modular breadth is the main reason to choose it; look elsewhere if predictable, all-in pricing matters more than selecting tools by client, business or submission.
