Overview

Formbricks is a feedback platform for teams that want to collect survey responses across websites, apps, and email. It suits organizations that need more than a basic questionnaire, especially those that value respondent segmentation or the option to host the software themselves. Its strongest case is the combination of flexible survey targeting and deployment choice; the trade-off is that useful cloud capacity costs money, while self-hosting brings real operational work.

It supports both types of NPS surveys as well as broader survey use, and offers website, email, and in-app channels. For category comparisons, see Net Promoter Score Software, Survey API Software, and Survey Software.

Key features

Flexible surveys and segmentation

Hobby supports link-based and in-product surveys, all question types, conditional logic, hidden fields, partial responses, file uploads, and single-use links. That is a capable foundation for teams that need to tailor questions or control how a survey link is used, but its 250-response monthly cloud cap makes it better suited to small-scale feedback than sustained, high-volume collection.

Pro adds respondent identification, contact and segment management, and attribute-based segmentation. These tools make the upgrade relevant when a team needs to organize feedback around respondent attributes rather than treat every response as interchangeable. Pro also adds email follow-ups, custom webhooks, integrations, iOS and Android SDKs, and AI translations, giving teams more ways to connect survey activity to follow-up and other systems.

Integrations, security, and deployment

Third-party integrations include Airtable, Google Sheets, Notion, Slack, n8n, Zapier, and ActivePieces. Formbricks says it encrypts data in transit with HTTPS/TLS 1.3 and at rest with AES-256, and lists GDPR, CCPA, SOC 2 Type II, and ISO 27001 compliance. It also says it runs annual independent penetration tests and makes daily encrypted backups for Formbricks Cloud.

Self-hosting is available through one-click setup, Docker, or Kubernetes. The documented v6 baseline runs eight long-lived services; its single-server evaluation setup calls for 2 vCPU, 4 GB memory, and 20 GB SSD. Those options give technical organizations deployment control, but the service count and maintenance make self-hosting a poor fit for teams seeking a low-operations survey tool.

Pricing

Formbricks is freemium and offers a 14-day trial. Cloud Hobby has no stated price, includes one workspace, and caps responses at 250 per month. It is the sensible starting point for a small project, but the response ceiling is restrictive for a team running surveys continuously.

Pro costs 89.00 USD per month, billed monthly. It includes three workspaces, 2,000 responses per month, and unlimited seats. The higher allowance and segmentation, automation, and SDK features suit teams that need to act on feedback across customer groups; the monthly price is a substantial step up from a small-team starter plan.

Scale costs 390.00 USD per month, billed monthly, and includes five workspaces and 5,000 responses per month. It is aimed at organizations with greater response volume or several survey programs, though the price makes it difficult to justify unless those extra limits matter. The stated paid-from pricing is $74/mo (annual); compare the billing terms carefully with the monthly Pro and Scale prices.

Self-Hosting Free is 0.00 USD per free and covers DIY setup and maintenance, community support, moderate customization and control, and most advanced features. Self-Hosting EE License has custom pricing, fixed per month, with DIY setup and maintenance, prioritized support and updates, all advanced features, and full customization and control. The free edition avoids a cloud subscription but shifts infrastructure and upkeep to the customer; the EE license is for teams that need its additional control and support.

Platforms

Formbricks lists web, API, Android, iOS, and self-hosted platforms. Its Pro plan includes iOS and Android SDKs, making the mobile options more relevant to teams building surveys into apps than to those only collecting responses through links or websites.

Who it's for

Formbricks is a good fit for organizations that want feedback across customer touchpoints and need to segment respondents, automate follow-ups, or connect surveys to other tools. Its intended use spans financial services, healthcare, e-commerce, nonprofits, government, market research, and retail. Teams with limited technical capacity should favor its cloud plans; teams prioritizing deployment control should be ready to operate a multi-service installation.

Pros and cons

Pros: Broad survey controls, including conditional logic, hidden fields, partial responses, uploads, and single-use links, support more tailored collection than a basic form.
Pros: Pro combines segmentation with follow-ups, webhooks, integrations, SDKs, and translations, making it useful for teams that need to route feedback into ongoing work.
Pros: Cloud and self-hosted deployment choices give organizations a way to balance managed service against customization and control.
Cons: Hobby's 250 monthly responses may be exhausted quickly by active feedback programs.
Cons: Pro and Scale cost 89.00 USD and 390.00 USD per month respectively, so the higher-volume cloud tiers require a clear need for their response allowances and features.
Cons: Self-hosting requires operating eight long-running services in the documented v6 baseline, a meaningful burden for small teams.

Alternatives

Choose Fynzo Survey if unlimited responses on a free plan matter more than Formbricks' stated segmentation and self-hosting options; its free plan also includes unlimited surveys and questions.

Refiner is another freemium option, with a free plan capped at 25 survey responses per month. SatisMeter also starts with 25 responses per month on its free plan and offers a paid Growth plan at 199.00 US.

Consider Mapster for a web-based option with a free 50-response monthly plan and a stated $19/mo Starter tier. Thermostat has a free plan capped at one user and one survey, with 200 surveys administered per month; its Pro plan is 49.00 USD per month.

Survicate has a free plan with 25 responses per month, three teammates, and 300 responses across active surveys. Wootric is a paid option without a free plan, with a Professional plan offering one journey point, one metric, and up to five seats. Customer Thermometer is another paid alternative, with plans including At the Beach at 9.00 USD per month and Jumper at 49.00 USD per month.

Verdict

Choose Formbricks if your organization needs surveys across several channels, meaningful respondent segmentation, and the choice between cloud and self-hosting. Its combination of targeting and integration options is the main reason to pick it; look elsewhere if you need generous free cloud volume or want to avoid the operating burden of a self-hosted deployment.
