Overview

FF Logs is an encounter-reporting and analysis service for Final Fantasy XIV. It is best suited to players and groups who want to review fights, track rankings, or work with combat data through an API. Its focus is unusually specific: strong tools for analyzing FFXIV performance, but little reason to choose it if you need a general-purpose game tracker.

Key features

Reports, rankings, and deaths

Players can record combats, upload reports, and analyze encounters in real time. Raid progress, speed, execution, and job-balance statistics give individuals and teams several ways to assess performance. Match history, player profiles, team statistics, live statistics, and leaderboards make it useful both for reviewing a single fight and following results over time.

Death statistics add a practical diagnostic angle: they show how often players die, which mechanics cause deaths, and the amount of overkill. That can help a group pinpoint recurring execution problems, though the service remains centered on combat reports rather than a broader suite of MMO tools.

App and API

A downloadable app is linked from the homepage, and ad-free viewing also applies within uploader applications for subscribers. Developers can use the public GraphQL v2 API with OAuth 2.0 client-credentials authentication. A private API supports private reports, but requires user permission. The API makes FF Logs relevant to technical users as well as players, although higher rate limits require a paid tier.

Pricing

FF Logs has a free plan and four paid monthly tiers. The paid plans chiefly add convenience, archived data, presentation options, and API capacity; the free option is the natural starting point if those extras are not essential.

Free: The free plan is available, but no specific free-plan caps are stated. It suits players who want to use the service without a subscription.
Silver — 2.00 USD per month (billed $2 / month): Ad-free viewing, faster report processing, and a Silver Discord role. It is the least expensive upgrade for users who want fewer ads or quicker processing; it does not include the older-report access or API limits listed for higher tiers.
Gold — 5.00 USD per month (billed $5 / month): All Silver benefits, estimated percentile during encounters, a custom character banner, reports over two years old, and an API limit of 9,000 points per hour. This tier makes sense for players who need archived reports or more API capacity.
Platinum — 10.00 USD per month (billed $10 / month): All Gold benefits, an API limit of 18,000 points per hour, custom FC and Static banners, Multiple Report Analysis, faster FC and Static report processing, and archived FC and Static reports. It is aimed at teams and API users who need those additional tools and throughput.
Archon Alchemical Society — 25.00 USD per month (billed $25 / month): All Platinum benefits, early access to future product releases and Report Components, and a special Discord role and channels. This is for committed supporters who value early access and the exclusive community access, not simply a higher API limit.

Platforms

FF Logs supports web, Windows, macOS, Linux, and API use. The range suits players using different desktop systems as well as developers building around its data.

Who it's for

Choose FF Logs if you play Final Fantasy XIV and want encounter reports, rankings, death analysis, or team statistics in one game-focused service. It is also a good fit for API users who can make use of its public data or, with permission, private reports. Players who only need a basic combat tool, or who do not play FFXIV, are unlikely to benefit as much from its specialized feature set.

Pros and cons

Pros: Combines encounter reporting with raid, speed, execution, and job-balance rankings, giving players several useful views of performance.
Pros: Death statistics identify mechanics associated with deaths and quantify overkill, which can make team review more actionable.
Pros: Public and permission-based private APIs serve both general integrations and private-report use cases.
Cons: The service is limited to Final Fantasy XIV, so it is not a fit for players seeking cross-game tracking.
Cons: Archived reports over two years old and higher API quotas require Gold or Platinum, respectively, making the most relevant limits tier-dependent.

Alternatives

For another freemium logs service with a similar platform range and matching Silver and Gold prices, consider Warcraft Logs. Choose Elite Insights instead if you want free, MIT-licensed software for Linux, macOS, Windows, or self-hosting. Advanced Combat Tracker is a free Windows desktop download; BlueMeter is a free Windows option. For an option with no purchase, account, or sign-in requirement and no locked features, consider EQ Zera. eqdps is free on Linux and Windows, with optional EQLDB uploads. AwowLab Overlay is a free Windows option with no paid tier required for its core job, while PQ Companion is a free Windows 10/11 tool for Project Quarm. Browse Game Damage Meters or Game Stat Trackers for category alternatives.

Verdict

FF Logs is the right choice for FFXIV players and teams who want to turn combat reports into rankings, death analysis, and useful performance comparisons. Its focused analysis and API are the main reasons to choose it; look elsewhere if you need a tool for another game or do not need this depth of report-based review.
