Overview

Famnest brings shared calendars, meal planning, recipes, health tracking, lists, and to-dos into one organizer. That breadth is its clearest advantage: families can use it to manage several recurring household needs rather than install a separate app for each. The trade-off is that Google Calendar syncing and expanded limits require a monthly subscription.

Previously loaded content remains viewable offline, but syncing, AI, and most real-time updates require internet access. Famnest is therefore a weaker fit for households that need an offline-first organizer.

Key features

Schedules and household tasks

The shared family calendar, to-dos, chores, routines, reminders, and shopping lists cover day-to-day coordination. Google Calendar sync is a Premium feature, so households relying on that integration should budget for the paid plan. Free includes the calendar and shared to-dos, while Premium removes limits on chores.

Meals and family information

Both plans include meal planning and recipes, with Premium offering unlimited meal plans and recipes. Famnest’s meal planner describes AI recipe generation based on available ingredients and preferences, which may help households deciding what to cook from what they have. Premium also includes unlimited health records and documents; those caps make the free plan less suitable for families who expect to build a substantial record library.

Famnest AI and privacy

Mary, Famnest’s AI assistant, answers questions using family data, and Premium subscribers receive unlimited questions. Famnest says certain AI features use Anthropic Claude and xAI Grok, with limited information sent to those providers to process requests. Families should weigh that processing against the convenience of asking questions in the context of their household data.

Famnest says data is stored on EU-based servers, encrypted in transit and at rest, and access is restricted and monitored. Account data may be retained for up to three months after closure, with some records kept longer when legally required. Stair Path AB, based in Saltsjöbaden, Sweden, is the data controller. The service is intended for adults aged 18 or older; adults or legal guardians may manage child-related data.

Pricing

Famnest uses a freemium model, with a free plan and Premium at 6.99 USD per month. A 7-day trial is offered. One Premium subscription covers the whole family, with no stated member limit, making the paid plan more practical for larger households than a per-person subscription would be.

Plan	Price	What it includes
Free	0.00 USD per free; billed $0 forever	Shared to-dos, family calendar, chores and routines, meal planning basics, and recipes
Premium	6.99 USD per month; billed $6.99 / month	Google Calendar sync, Weekly Digest with Famnest AI, unlimited health records, documents, chores, meal plans, and recipes; one subscription covers the family

Free is a meaningful starting point for basic household coordination, but it gives up Google Calendar sync and the unlimited records, chores, and meal-planning capacity. Premium is the better fit for families who need those integrations or expect to use the organizer heavily. The trial lasts seven days; the monthly plan renews at the stated monthly price.

Platforms

Famnest is available on Android, iOS, macOS, and the web, giving households a choice of phone, computer, and browser access. Its offline access is limited to content already loaded, so this platform breadth does not remove the need for an internet connection for syncing and most live features.

Who it's for

Famnest is best for families who want household schedules, meals, tasks, and family information together, and who are comfortable paying to unlock calendar syncing and unlimited use. The free tier suits households trying the core organizer or keeping their needs modest. It is less compelling for people who need extensive offline access, only want a simple calendar, or prefer not to send limited AI request information to third-party providers.

Pros and cons

Pros: Broad household coverage combines calendars, tasks, chores, meals, recipes, and health records in one app.
Pros: One Premium subscription covers the family with no stated member cap.
Pros: Available across Android, iOS, macOS, and web; the free plan includes a calendar, to-dos, basic meal planning, and recipes.
Cons: Google Calendar sync is paid, limiting the free plan for households that depend on that integration.
Cons: Free users do not get unlimited records, chores, or meal plans and recipes.
Cons: Offline viewing is limited to previously loaded content, while syncing, AI, and most real-time updates need internet.
Cons: Certain AI requests involve limited information being processed by Anthropic Claude or xAI Grok.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison, browse Family Calendar Apps.

OpenFamily is worth considering if self-hosting and keeping data on your own setup are priorities; its self-hosted plan is free.
Ahenora may fit households seeking a two-adult free plan with tasks, calendar, shared lists, family chat, and reminders; its free period lasts 14 days before that plan applies.
Fami is an option for households wanting a shared calendar, chores, shopping list, budget, and family places, with Premium at 4.99 USD per month.
Equal House may suit families who prioritize a fairness engine and auto-balancing, provided a three-day planning horizon is enough.
Famnly is an iOS-only alternative for families whose needs fit its free plan for one managed member.
Cozi is another freemium choice, with a shared family calendar, notifications, grocery and to-do lists, and a recipe library on its free plan.
FamCal is an alternative available on Android, iOS, macOS, and web.
FamilyDash may suit households seeking a low-cost paid plan; its Pro plan is 2.92 USD per month, billed annually at $34.99/yr.

Verdict

Choose Famnest if your household wants one cross-platform home for schedules, chores, meals, and family records, and Premium’s unlimited features justify 6.99 USD per month for the whole family. Its strongest reason to look elsewhere is the combination of paid Google Calendar syncing and limited offline functionality; households wanting a simpler or offline-first organizer should compare alternatives.
