Overview

Fadr combines song-stem separation with remixing and text-driven tools for making instruments and drum kits. It is best suited to DJs, producers, and musicians who want to move from isolating parts of a track to reshaping or building musical material in one service. Its free tier makes core separation and remixing unusually accessible, though WAV exports, longer tracks, plugins, and API use sit behind a paid plan.

Key features

Separate tracks and remix

Basic separates vocals, melodies, drums, and bass, and includes Remix Maker, unlimited stems, remixes, and DJ sets. That is a useful starting point for people working with ordinary song-length material, but the free plan caps uploads at 10 minutes and exports only MP3. Plus expands separation to 18 stem types, including lead and background vocals, kick and snare, piano, guitar, strings, and wind. The additional detail is more useful when a mix needs finer parts than a broad vocal-and-rhythm split.

Plus raises the maximum track length to one hour; Fadr also sets a 200 MB maximum upload size. WAV downloads are reserved for Plus, which matters for workflows where MP3 is not an adequate delivery format.

Make instruments and drum kits

Siren turns words into playable instruments and offers ADSR controls plus low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, and notch filters. Those controls give sound designers ways to shape generated material rather than treating each result as a finished preset. Siren is available online, as an iPhone and iPad app, and as a plugin compatible with major DAWs.

DrumGPT generates 16-element drum kits from text prompts, with controls for pitch, volume, and amplitude envelope. It is a focused option for sketching a kit from a prompt, though the stated feature set does not position it as a full drum-production environment.

Plugins and API

The Stems Plugin works with major DAWs and VST3-compatible software, with VST3 support on Windows and VST3/AU on Mac. That makes Plus more practical for users who want stem separation within an existing production setup instead of moving files between tools.

The API separates tracks into vocals, drums, bass, melodies, and instrumental, and can return MIDI, chord progression, key, and tempo detection. It requires Plus, and its Create Stem Task endpoint costs US$0.05 per minute of audio, so API use adds usage-based expense beyond the subscription. Fadr says API files pass through secure cloud storage using temporary presigned upload and download URLs. Its terms say the site is hosted in the United States and is not tailored to industry-specific rules such as HIPAA or FISMA, making it unsuitable for workflows that require those protections.

Pricing

Fadr Basic: 0.00 USD per free. It includes vocals, melodies, drums, and bass separation, MP3 downloads, MIDI detection, Remix Maker, and unlimited stems, remixes, and DJ sets. The 10-minute track cap and MP3-only exports are the main trade-offs; Basic fits casual remixing and shorter-source work without a subscription.

Fadr Plus: 10.00 USD per month, billed $10/mo. It adds 18 stem types, one-hour uploads, WAV downloads, plugins, API access, and unlimited storage. It is the more appropriate plan for longer tracks, detailed separation, DAW integration, or WAV delivery. API processing still carries the separate US$0.05-per-minute endpoint charge.

Platforms

Fadr is available on web, iOS, and macOS, with Windows and API support also listed. Siren specifically offers iPhone and iPad apps as well as online access and DAW plugins. The Stems Plugin supports VST3 on Windows and VST3/AU on Mac. Support is directed through Fadr's contact form, contact@fadr.com, or Instagram.

Who it's for

Fadr is a strong fit for independent producers, DJs, and musicians who need inexpensive stem access and want remixing, instrument generation, or drum-kit creation nearby. Basic is enough for short tracks and MP3-based experimentation; Plus earns its place when users need longer uploads, more granular stems, WAV files, or plugin and API access. It is a weaker choice for anyone who needs regulated-industry compliance or wants API processing without per-minute charges.

Pros and cons

Pro: Basic allows unlimited stems, remixes, and DJ sets, so experimentation is not rationed by a monthly usage quota.
Pro: Plus offers 18 stem types and a one-hour track limit, extending the tool beyond broad vocal-and-instrument separation.
Pro: Siren and DrumGPT add text-driven instrument and kit creation alongside stem and remix tools.
Con: Basic stops at 10-minute uploads and MP3 downloads, limiting its usefulness for longer tracks or WAV-dependent delivery.
Con: API access requires Plus and adds a US$0.05-per-minute processing fee.
Con: Fadr says its service is not tailored to requirements such as HIPAA and FISMA, ruling it out for some regulated workflows.

Verdict

Choose Fadr if you want a practical path from separating a song into parts to remixing it, with AI instrument and drum-kit creation in the same toolkit. Its free Basic plan is the clearest reason to start: unlimited core separation and remix use without a subscription. Look elsewhere if 10-minute uploads and MP3 exports are too restrictive, or if Plus's subscription plus API processing charge does not suit your budget.
