Overview

SpotOn serves restaurants ranging from cafes and bakeries to fine dining, breweries, quick service and fast casual. Its POS and management dashboard bring together service workflows and operational tools, which can simplify a restaurant’s software stack. That convenience comes with less freedom to choose devices and software than an open platform would offer.

Key features

The POS covers table layouts, menu management, ordering, payments, reporting and employee tools. Reservation booking, table management and staff scheduling are supported, giving operators tools for both front-of-house coordination and routine staff administration.

SpotOn Order offers commission-free online ordering connected to the POS and GoTo Place app. Direct DoorDash and Uber Eats integrations, plus support for other delivery platforms through Deliverect, give restaurants ways to connect delivery operations. Third-party software fees still apply, and customers who opt out of the Core Bundle pay a small monthly marketplace access fee.

The dashboard adds an AI menu assistant, dynamic reporting, marketing campaigns, remote management, multi-location tools and employee tools. Offline mode is a practical safeguard: stations and devices stay connected and orders can continue to the kitchen during an internet outage; offline payments sync when connectivity returns.

SpotOn has integrations across ordering, delivery, labor, inventory, kitchen display systems, kiosks, reservations, accounting and payroll, including DoorDash, Uber Eats, 7shifts, MarginEdge and OpenTable. But it has no open API, so operators must work within its selected software-provider integrations. Restaurant customers also cannot bring their own POS hardware or tablets.

Pricing

SpotOn’s entry point is $55/mo, but the plans package costs differently, and processing and implementation charges can materially affect the total.

All-In Plan: $0.00 per free, with POS software and hardware, ordering, payments, table layouts, menu management and reporting. Processing minimums apply and the plan requires a two-year minimum term, so the zero-dollar software price is not a no-cost commitment.
Core Bundle: $50.00 per month per location, plus $50/month and 20 basis points of gross payment volume, capped at $200. It includes Profit Assist, SpotOn Order, the GoTo Place app, Marketing Assist and software integrations. It fits operators seeking those add-ons, but the volume-based charge and location pricing need to be factored into the budget.
POS Essentials: $55.00 per month per station, billed at $55 per station monthly. Station 15 hardware costs $750 each and handhelds $297 each; implementation costs also apply. Card-present processing is 2.45% + $0.15, except Amex at 3.19% + $0.15; keyed transactions are 3.45% + $0.15. This is the straightforward per-station option, but hardware, implementation and payment fees sit alongside the subscription.
Build Your Own: custom pricing for multi-unit, enterprise and other high-volume operations, with custom processing rates and implementation costs. It is aimed at larger operators who need a tailored package rather than a published price.

Platforms

SpotOn supports Android, iOS and web access. The restaurant dashboard works in any browser on any device and is described as mobile-friendly. Device flexibility for dashboard access does not extend to POS hardware: restaurant POS use requires SpotOn’s proprietary equipment.

Who it's for

SpotOn is a strong fit for restaurants that want POS, ordering, reservations and management tools connected, especially those using its supported integrations and willing to adopt its hardware. Operators prioritizing device choice, an open API or a tightly predictable total cost should weigh those constraints carefully.

Pros and cons

Pros: Offline ordering can keep tickets moving to the kitchen during internet outages, with payments syncing afterward.
Pros: Commission-free SpotOn Order connects to the POS and GoTo Place app, with direct DoorDash and Uber Eats integrations.
Pros: 24/7/365 technical support from real people is included at no extra cost.
Cons: Proprietary POS hardware prevents restaurants from using their own POS devices or tablets.
Cons: No open API limits integrations to selected providers, while third-party software fees and, in some cases, marketplace access fees add cost.
Cons: Processing charges and implementation costs make the advertised monthly rate only part of the budget calculation.

Alternatives

For a restaurant-specific comparison, browse Restaurant POS Software, Restaurant Management Software and Restaurant Table Management Software. Operators focused on menu performance can also compare Restaurant Menu Engineering Software, while food-truck operators can explore Food Truck POS Software.

Qashier is worth considering for operators seeking a free-plan option: its Essential plan is $5.00 USD per month, billed RM5/day, and supports up to nine stores and 1,000 products, with prices excluding SST. Cuppacard is a loyalty-focused alternative with a free plan and a $10.00 GBP monthly plan that includes a custom loyalty scheme, customer insights and custom offers.

Verdict

Choose SpotOn Restaurant if you want connected restaurant operations, offline continuity and ordering linked to your POS, and are comfortable with its hardware and payment model. Look elsewhere if bringing your own equipment, using an open API or keeping processing and implementation costs out of the equation is essential.
