Overview

Epicor Kinetic is a cloud ERP built for manufacturers, particularly businesses running discrete or make-to-order production. It brings manufacturing, planning, supply chain, and financial operations into one platform, with hybrid deployment and concurrent licensing as options. Its breadth suits manufacturers seeking connected operations; businesses looking for a narrowly focused tool may find it more than they need.

Key features

Kinetic covers production, scheduling, purchasing, supply chain, accounts payable and receivable, and general ledger, alongside inventory, order, and multi-entity management. Forecasting, material requirements planning, advanced planning and scheduling, and sourcing connect production needs with supply decisions. That scope is useful when teams need operational and financial processes in the same ERP, rather than separate point tools.

Production data collection and IoT-enabled MES capabilities support monitoring of equipment, efficiency, and quality metrics. Application Studio adds no-code and low-code configuration for interfaces and workflows, giving teams room to adapt processes without making customization the entire implementation strategy.

REST services following OData v4, EDI and B2B integrations, and partner connections using JSON and XML give Kinetic several routes to exchange data. REST connections can also link with Excel and Power BI. The breadth is valuable for manufacturers with established systems and trading partners, though it still calls for integration planning.

The mobile, browser-based interface is responsive across devices. Epicor also describes cloud security measures including multi-factor authentication, regional disaster recovery, backups, monitoring, audits, data masking, and encryption. These are relevant safeguards for cloud operations, not a substitute for assessing security and deployment requirements for a particular business.

Pricing

Kinetic uses paid, custom pricing. The plan is structured around a platform core, cloud package, concurrent user licenses, and industry bundles, so organizations can ask Epicor for a configuration aligned with their operational needs. Concurrent licenses are not tied to a named person or device, which can suit teams where access shifts across users or workstations.

The Select cloud package includes daily backups retained for 30 days, in-region disaster recovery, monthly updates, and a historic 99.98% SLA. It also includes the Essential Support Plan. Those service commitments make Select a concrete option to discuss for cloud deployments, but the package does not have a published price; buyers should clarify how the selected core, bundle, licensing, and support affect their quote.

Platforms

Epicor identifies Android, iOS, web, Windows, API, and self-hosted platforms, with hybrid deployment. That combination can accommodate mobile access and integration work alongside organizations that need a hybrid approach.

Who it's for

Kinetic is best suited to manufacturers with discrete or make-to-order operations that need production planning, shop-floor monitoring, supply chain processes, and financial management together. Its multi-entity support, integration options, and configurable workflows also make it relevant where operations span entities or require connections to business systems. A company seeking only accounting, analytics, or one specialized workflow should compare focused products before taking on a broad ERP.

Pros and cons

Pro: Manufacturing, planning, purchasing, supply chain, and finance share one ERP scope, reducing the need to assemble those core functions from separate products.
Pro: IoT-enabled MES and production data collection support equipment, efficiency, and quality monitoring alongside planning.
Pro: Concurrent user licensing is not bound to a named user or device, offering flexibility for shared access patterns.
Con: Custom pricing means buyers need a quote to judge cost against their required cores, bundles, deployment, and user needs.
Con: Kinetic's wide ERP remit may be excessive for organizations that only need a single financial or operational function.

Alternatives

For a narrower intercompany accounting focus, compare Intercompany Accounting Software options, including Translucent Intercompany, which has a free plan. For distribution-centered needs, explore Distribution Management Software. Businesses prioritizing manufacturing finance can consider Manufacturing Accounting Software or Cost Accounting Software.

For quoting workflows, compare Configure Price Quote Software and CPQ Software rather than choosing a full manufacturing ERP for that need alone. Acumatica Field Service is a paid alternative with Android, iOS, API, and web platforms and custom pricing based on applications, expected usage, resources, and deployment preferences. EntriesOne is a paid option on Android, iOS, and web; Nominal is paid and web-based; Flexi is paid and supports API, self-hosted, and web platforms.

OneStream is a paid platform available on Android, API, iOS, self-hosted, web, and Windows, with a demo offered to discuss it. Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP is a paid web option with no free plan. Phocas is paid, available on web and Windows, and uses annual named-user subscriptions with one-off implementation and annual platform fees.

Verdict

Choose Epicor Kinetic if your manufacturing business needs production, planning, supply chain, and finance coordinated in a configurable ERP, especially across discrete or make-to-order operations. Its manufacturing depth and concurrent licensing are strong reasons to shortlist it. Look elsewhere if your need is limited to one function or you cannot assess a custom-priced package before engaging Epicor.
