Overview

Eklavvya is a managed assessment service for organizations running exams and other remote evaluations. Its broad mix of question formats, exam controls, proctoring, and integrations suits institutions and enterprises with varied assessment needs. The trade-off is a fixed SaaS delivery model and a free tier capped by exam credits.

Key features

Question design and exam controls

Question banks support image, audio, objective, and subjective questions. Administrators can set passing marks, organize questions by topic, apply negative marking, and choose difficulty levels. That range supports assessments with different formats and scoring rules, though the exam itself is delivered through a browser.

Proctoring and auditability

Remote proctoring is designed to authenticate and authorize candidates and control online exams. Image capture, video, AI proctoring, and screen sharing are supported on Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS devices. Administrators can review activity logs for both candidates and administrators, which helps organizations track exam activity alongside results.

Results and integrations

Results include rankings, individual and batch question-attempt analysis, and score and group-performance analysis. Eklavvya integrates with ERP, LMS, CRM, and custom applications through options including SSO and REST APIs. Its APIs cover candidate and exam workflows, scheduling, results, face verification, proctoring image analysis, and code grading, making it a stronger fit for organizations that want assessments connected to existing systems.

Eklavvya states that it is CERT-IN certified for software security and ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certified for information security management. The application is managed SaaS and cannot be hosted on a customer's own server, so it is not the right choice for organizations that require self-hosting.

Pricing

Eklavvya uses a freemium model. The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and includes 25 exams and 1 GB of storage. Usage is counted in exam credits based on candidate exam instances, so the exam cap is best judged against the number of candidates taking assessments, not just the number of exam designs. Free-plan technical support is by email only.

Standard has custom pricing and includes 500 exams and 5 GB of storage. Professional also has custom pricing, with 500 exams and 10 GB of storage. Enterprise has custom pricing and 20 GB of storage; it includes an account manager for technical support. The published plan facts do not give an Enterprise exam quota, so organizations should confirm that allowance before choosing it. The paid tiers offer higher storage than Free, but their exam quotas and prices make direct budget comparison difficult.

Platforms

Eklavvya supports Android, iOS, macOS, Windows, web, and API. Exams are delivered through a browser; supported desktop and mobile devices are used for proctoring modes such as image capture, video, AI proctoring, and screen sharing.

Who it's for

Eklavvya is suited to institutions and enterprises that run remote assessments and need a combination of exam authoring, proctoring, results analysis, and integration options. Its API coverage and range of question formats are particularly useful when assessments must fit into existing workflows. It is less suitable for small teams needing a generous free allowance or for buyers who require software hosted on their own servers.

Pros and cons

Pros: Broad question formats and exam controls support varied assessment designs.
Pros: Proctoring, identity verification, and audit logs cover monitoring and exam activity review.
Pros: Detailed result analysis and API coverage can support larger, connected assessment operations.
Cons: Free use is limited to 25 exams, with usage measured by candidate exam instances.
Cons: Managed SaaS cannot meet a requirement to host the application on a customer-owned server.

Alternatives

ClassMarker is another freemium option with a free plan and free trial; consider it if a monthly-credit plan with AI exam proctoring and custom certificates is a better fit. SpeedExam has a free plan with 25 exam attempts per month, 2,000 questions, and 100 MB of storage, and a Professional plan priced at 20.00 USD per year; it is worth comparing if those stated quotas and price suit your needs.

ThinkExam offers a free plan and trial, as well as a Standard plan at 3125.00 USD per month billed annually for 100 users and unlimited quizzes; consider it if those terms match your scale. Wheebox is a paid alternative. FastTest has a paid plan starting at 6750.00 USD per year, with pricing dependent on organization qualification; its free plan and free trial may also merit comparison.

OpenEMIS Admissions is free, open-source software with no licensing fees and self-hosted web delivery, making it a possible choice when self-hosting is important. Numbas is a free alternative. Synap is paid, has no free plan, and offers a free trial; its Standard plan costs 1200.00 GBP per year and includes the platform plus the first 500 credits for unproctored exams.

Verdict

Choose Eklavvya if your institution or enterprise needs a managed remote-assessment platform that combines configurable exams, multiple proctoring modes, result analysis, and integration APIs. Look elsewhere if you need self-hosting, or if a small free allowance and custom-priced paid plans make budgeting or scale hard to establish.
